[Machine] I heard Mansur say, "We were in the room of Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, and Ibrahim al-Taymi was with us. We mentioned wiping over the two socks. Ibrahim al-Taymi then said, 'Amr ibn Maymun narrated to us from Abu Abdullah al-Jadali from Khuzaymah ibn Thabit who said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made it permissible for us to wipe over the two socks three times. And if we had asked for more, he would have granted it to us,' meaning wiping over the two socks for the traveler.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to wipe over the socks for a day and night when we are settled, and for three days when we are traveling. By Allah, even if the person asked for more, he would still make it five. This was narrated by Yahya ibn Sa'id from Thawri, who said in the narration: "And if I had asked for more, he would have given us more." And it was narrated by Al-Hasan ibn Ubaidullah from Ibrahim Al-Taymi, except for wiping over the shoes.
[Machine] A Bedouin man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about wiping over the two socks. He replied, "Three days and their nights." He said, "And we have seen that if he were to increase it, he would increase it." And likewise.
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The traveler wipes over (his socks) for three days.' Shu'bah said, 'I think he said, 'and their nights.' Ath-Thawri narrated it from Salamah, and Shu'bah differed in its chain."
[Machine] From Ibrahim Al-Taymi, he disagreed with all of them.
I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about kalalah and he said: “The verse that was revealed in summer is sufficient for you.ʿ He said: Had I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, that would have been dearer to me than having red camels. (Using translation from Aḥmad 262)
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said regarding wiping over the two socks for a resident for one day and night, and for a traveler three days and nights, and likewise.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in his home. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I wipe over my socks?" He replied, "Yes." I asked, "For how long?" He said, "For one day." I asked, "And two days?" He said, "Yes, two days." I asked, "And three?" He said, "Yes." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, this is Ya'qub ibn 'Ubayy ibn 'Amarah al-Ansari, also known as ibn 'Amara with a kasrah on the 'ayn." The sheikh said and he mentioned.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in the house of Umara Al-Kablatayn and he said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I wipe over both socks?" He said, "Yes." He asked, "For a day?" He said, "Yes." He asked, "And for two days?" He said, "And for two days." He asked, "And for three days, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Yes, until seven [days], then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes, that is what appears to you in our narration." It was also narrated from Ibn Abi Maryam in this chain of narration, from Abdul Rahman ibn Yazid, and it was also said in this chain of narration that Abu Ali Ruzbary informed us, "I am Abu Bakr bin Dasaah" and Abu Dawud As-Sijistani said, "There is disagreement in its chain of narration and it is not strong." Abu Bakr bin Al-Harith Al-Faqih informed us, "I am Ali bin Umar Al-Hafidh." He said, "This is a chain of narration that is not reliable and there is much disagreement concerning Yahya bin Ayyub, Abdul Rahman, Muhammad bin Yazid, and Ayub bin Qatan, all of whom are unknown, and Allah knows best."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When one of you performs ablution and puts on his socks, then he should pray while wearing them and wipe over them. He should not take them off unless he is in a state of major impurity.'"
[Machine] I heard Umar say, "When one of you performs ablution and puts on his socks, he should wipe over them and pray in them. He should not remove them unless he is in a state of major impurity." 1331. Wahb ibn Jarir said, "Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us from Abdullah ibn Abu Bakr and Thabit from Anas from the Prophet ﷺ with a similar narration." Ibn Sa'id said, "I did not know anyone who brought a narration about it except Asad ibn Musa." The Sheikh said, "Abdul Ghaffar ibn Dawud al-Harrani also narrated it in Al-Musnad, but it is not known in Basra from Hammad and it is not famous. And Allah knows best. As for Umar bin Al-Khattab, the narration from him regarding this is famous."
Ata' ibn AbuRabah said: Ibn az-Zubayr led us in the 'Id prayer on Friday early in the morning. When we went to offer the Friday, he did not come out to us. So we prayed ourselves alone. At that time Ibn Abbas was present in at-Ta'if. When he came to us, we mentioned this (incident) to him. He said: He followed the sunnah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1071)
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ regarding timing, it is better for him to say what coincides with the well-known Sunnah. It has been narrated from Ibn Umar that he did not time his actions.
[Machine] Abu Ali Al-Za'farani returned, and Abu Abdullah Al-Shafi'i returned to the timing of wiping among us in Baghdad before he left it.
