1. Purification
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman with extremely tangled hair or she said, 'I have head lice.' Should I undo my hair for Janabah (major ritual impurity) or menstruation?" He replied, "No, it is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water on your head, then you have become purified."
[Machine] A woman from the Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was with him and said, "Verily, I am a woman with very tight curly hair. How should I wash myself after sexual impurity (janabah)?" He said, "Pour three handfuls of water over your head, then press out the remnants of each handful, and then pour water over your body." Usamah bin Zaid narrated that in the narration of Ibn Wahb, it was said that Sa`id heard it from Umm Salamah, and that was because of her tight hair.
[Machine] He heard Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, say, "A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman with tightly braided hair, so what should I do when I want to perform ghusl?' He said, 'Unbraid your hair on your head three times, then pour water over it with each handful. Then, run your fingers through your hair after each handful of water. This will be sufficient for you.' The narration of Ayub ibn Musa is more authentic than the narration of Usamah ibn Zaid, and in its chain of narration is what is not in the chain of narration of Usamah ibn Zaid."
[Machine] That they should shave their heads. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah and I used to perform ablution from the same vessel, and I would pour water over my head three times.
we took a bath while having an adhesive substance over us (our head) in both states, namely, when wearing a robe for Hajj (ihram) and when wearing ordinary clothes (not meant for Hajj). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 254)
[Machine] Um Salama and the other woman used to be women who comb their hair frequently. When she would wash her body, it wouldn't invalidate her ablution. However, she would pour three handfuls of water over her head. Then, when she would see wetness on the roots of her hair, she would rub it and then pour water over the rest of her body.
[Machine] I performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage and he mentioned menstruation in relation to Umrah. So, she said, "O Messenger of Allah, today is the Day of Arafah and I have not purified myself yet. I only intended to perform Umrah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told her, "Wash your head and make yourself ritually pure, and join the Hajj with your family, abstaining from performing Umrah." She said, "So, I did as he told me, and the hadith was recorded in Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. It states that she performed ghusl (ritual purification) for menstruation during Hajj, and her ghusl was the prescribed ghusl. She was commanded to wash her head and comb her hair, and it appears that she was commanded to do so in a recommended manner, similar to how Asma bint 'Umays was commanded to perform ghusl for menstruation during 'Iddah (waiting period after divorce)."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When a woman completes her menstrual period, she should comb her hair and wash herself with the khitmiyy (a type of plant) and al-ushnaan (a type of soap). And when she takes a ritual bath after sexual impurity (janabah), she does not have to comb her hair or wash herself with khitmiyy and al-ushnaan."
