"Messenger of Allah would sleep while he was Junub, and without touching water (performing Ghusl)." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 118)
[Machine] About the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? So she said, "He used to sleep at the beginning of the night and wake up at the end of it. If he had any need for his family, he would fulfill it, then he would sleep before touching water. When the first call to prayer was made, she said, 'He would immediately get up and, by Allah, he never said 'No'. He would take water and, by Allah, he never said 'No'. He would perform ablution and I know what he intended. If he had no need, he would perform the ablution of a man for prayer and then he would pray the two units (rak'ahs)."
[Machine] She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ablution when he was in a state of sexual impurity before going to sleep or eating."
[Machine] I asked Aisha how the Prophet ﷺ would perform ablution if he wanted to sleep while in a state of impurity (junub). She said that he would perform ablution for prayer and then go to sleep. The sheikh said that the narration of Abu Ishaq As-Sabiiy is correct from the perspective of narration. Abu Ishaq clarified that he heard it from Al-Aswad who narrated it from Zuhair ibn Muawiya. As for Al-Mudallis, when he clarifies his hearing from someone and is reliable, there is no reason to reject his narration. The reconciliation between the two narrations is possible, and Abu Al-Abbas Ibn Shuraih has reconciled them well according to what we have been informed by Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz. He said, "I asked Abu Al-Waleed Al-Faqih and said, 'Which narration is correct: that of Thawri from Abu Ishaq from Al-Aswad from Aisha, that the Prophet ﷺ would sleep in a state of impurity without touching water, or the narration of Nafi' and Abdullah Ibn Dinar from Ibn Umar that Umar asked the Prophet ﷺ , 'Can we sleep while in a state of impurity?' and he answered, 'Yes, if you perform ablution.' Abu Al-Waleed said, "The ruling is both of them. As for the narration of Aisha, she meant that the Prophet ﷺ would not touch water for bath, and as for the narration of Umar, it is explained that ablution was mentioned, and that is what we take."
