[Machine] The man complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that something occurs to him during prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not break your prayer until you hear a sound or smell an odor." Ash-Shafi'i said in the narration of Abu Sa'id, "When the Sunnah proved that the man should leave the prayer due to a smell, the smell was from the path of excrement, and there was more of it."
[Machine] Bala Jarir then performed ablution and wiped over his socks. He was asked, "Why are you doing this even though you have already reached maturity?" He replied, "Yes, I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do the same, he performed ablution and wiped over his socks." Ibrahim said, "This narration amazed them because the Islam of Jarir came after the revelation of the verse of wiping over the socks."
[Machine] I went to Safwan bin Assal and I said to him: "You were one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and it has been bothering me that I have traces of urine and feces on my socks. Please tell me anything you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding this." He replied: "He used to command us, when we were traveling or on a journey, not to remove our socks for three days and nights except in a state of major impurity, but it is permissible to remove them for urination, defecation, or sleep."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted us to wipe over the two socks three times for a traveler, except when in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). However, it is permissible to wipe over the socks in the case of minor impurities such as excrement, urine, or wind. Abu al-Walid said, "He did not mention wind other than the wind of Mis'ar." And Abu Bakr al-Harithi informed us that Ali ibn Umar al-Hafiz narrated to us, who narrated from Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Mubashir, and Abu Abdullah Ahmad ibn Amr ibn Uthman al-Wasit narrated from them, who narrated from Ahmad ibn Sinan, who narrated from Ali. And Abu al-Tayyib Yazid ibn al-Hasan ibn Yazid al-Bazzaz narrated from Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Hassani, who said, "Waqi' informed us, who narrated from Mis'ar," and he mentioned it with similar wording. Ali said, "He did not mention in this hadith 'other than wind' from anyone other than Waqi'."
