1. Purification
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about water and what it carries from impurities and animals. He said, "If water is two qullas (a unit of measurement) or less, it does not carry impurities, and likewise..."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When water is in small quantities, it does not carry impurity, and likewise."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about water and what can carry impurities, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If water is two Qullah, it does not carry impurities." Abu Abdur-Rahman and Abu Bakr narrated to us, they said: "Ali son of Sa'dan narrated to me, Shu'ayb bin Ayyub narrated to me, Abu Usamah narrated to me from Al-Walid bin Kathir from Muhammad bin Abbad bin Ja'far from Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Umar from his father from the Prophet ﷺ a similar narration." Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz narrated to us, Abu Ali Muhammad bin Ali Al-Isfara'ini from the origin of his book, and I asked him about Ali bin Abdullah bin Mubashir Al-Wasiti. Shu'ayb bin Ayyub narrated to me, Abu Usamah narrated to me, and Al-Walid bin Kathir narrated to me from Muhammad bin Ja'far bin Zubair and Muhammad bin Abbad bin Ja'far from Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Umar from his father, he said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about water and he mentioned it in a similar manner. It was also narrated in one of the two narrations from Uthman bin Abi Shaybah from Abu Usamah as such."
[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ being asked about the water that is found in the valleys and the animals that drink from it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "If the water is equal to two qullats (a unit of measure), it does not carry any impurities." This is the wording of the Hadith narrated by Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz. And likewise...
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about water that is in a ditch and is approached by wild animals and dogs. He replied, 'If the water is two Qullahs (a measurement) and does not carry impurities, then the same is said by dogs and wild animals.' This narration is considered strange and was also reported by Musa ibn Ismail from Hammad ibn Salamah. Ismail ibn Ayyash also reported it from Muhammad ibn Ishaq. Dogs and wild animals are exempted from this rule, except that there is a difference of opinion regarding the chain of narration. This hadith was reported by Hammad ibn Salamah from Asim ibn Mundhir ibn Zubair ibn Al-Awam from Ubaidullah ibn Abdullah ibn Umar from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ . In this narration, the narration of Ibn Ishaq is considered strong."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the water is in small quantity, it does not become impure, and likewise."
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ: When the water reaches the quantity of two or three qullat (a unit of measure), nothing will make it impure. Similarly, Yazid ibn Harun and Kamal ibn Talhah also reported the same, as narrated by a group of individuals who had no doubts.
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said: "If water is two quantities, nothing makes it impure." Ali reported that this was narrated by Muhammad bin Kathir from Za'idah, and Mu'awiyah bin Amr narrated it from Za'idah as well, as a statement and it is the correct opinion. 1246 Ahmad informed us: Ali narrated to us, who said: Al-Qadi Husayn bin Ismail narrated to us, who said: Ja'far bin Muhammad al-Sa'igh narrated to us, who said: Mu'awiyah bin Amr narrated to us, who said: Za'idah narrated to us, from Layth, from Mujahid, from Ibn Umar, like it as a statement.
[Machine] The passage "عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ كَذَلِكَ مَوْقُوفًا" translates to "From Ibn Abbas, thus narrated/stated."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the water reaches a quantity of forty, it does not carry impurities." This hadith was uniquely reported by Al-Qasim Al-Umari, but he made a mistake in it and he was weak in hadith. It was criticized by Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Yahya ibn Ma'in, Al-Bukhari, and others from the scholars. Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us, saying, "I heard Abu Ali Al-Hafiz saying, the hadith of Muhammad ibn Al-Munkadir from Jabir from the Prophet ﷺ , 'When the water reaches a quantity of forty, it is a mistake.' The correct one is from Muhammad ibn Al-Munkadir from Abdullah ibn Umar, and its meaning was said to me by Abu Bakr ibn Al-Harith Al-Faqih from Abu Al-Hasan Ad-Daraqutni Al-Hafiz, who said that Al-Qasim had doubts about it, and he was weak and made many mistakes."
[Machine] If the water is equal to forty (liters) or less, it does not carry impurity, and it is opposed by no one. Al-Faraa said: forty Ghabs (a unit of measurement) of water, and some of them said: forty buckets. Abu Bakr ibn al-Harith narrated it to me from Abu Hassan al-Daraqutni al-Hafidh. The Sheikh narrated it, and Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Zuhli narrated it from Amr ibn Khalid, from Ibn Lahita, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Amr ibn Hurayth, from Abu Hurayrah who said: Forty buckets of water do not cause impurity, even if a junub (ritually impure) person performs ghusl (ritual purification) in it and another person follows him. This is more reliable and Ibn Lahita is not a strong authority on this matter. And the saying of anyone who agrees with the saying of the companions is more reliable than the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in this regard. And with Allah is the ability to succeed.
