1. Purification (8/28)
A Bedouin came to the Prophet and asked him about ablution. He showed him how to perform it washing each part of the body three times. Then he said: 'This is the ablution, and whoever does more than this, has done evil, transgressed the limits and wronged himself.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 422)
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him: Messenger of Allah, how is the ablution (to performed)? He (the Prophet) then called for water in a vessel and washed his hands up to the wrists three times, then washed his face three times, and washed his forearms three times. He then wiped his head and inserted both his index fingers in his ear-holes; he wiped the back of his ears with his thumbs and the front of his ears with the index fingers. He then washed his feet three times. Then he said: This is how ablution should be performed. If anyone does more or less than this, he has done wrong and transgressed, or (said) transgressed and done wrong. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 135)
1.86 [Machine] Performing ablution twice twice
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed ablution two times, two times.
The Prophet (my peace be upon him) washed the limbs in ablution twice. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 136)

1.87 [Machine] The Wudu (Ablution) Multiple Times
[Machine] Shall I not inform you about the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? He called for a vessel with water and then he began scooping water with his hand, pouring it on each body part separately.
1.88 [Machine] Wudu' (ablution) of some organs three times, and some organs twice, and some organs once.
My father saw ʿAmr bin Abi Hasan asking ʿAbdullah bin Zaid about the ablution of the Prophet. ʿAbdullah bin Zaid asked for earthenware pot containing water and in front of them performed ablution like that of the Prophet ﷺ . He poured water from the pot over his hand and washed his hands thrice and then he put his hands in the pot and rinsed his mouth and washed his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out with three handfuls of water. Again he put his hand in the water and washed his face thrice and washed his forearms up to the elbows twice; and then put his hands in the water and then passed them over his head by bringing them to the front and then to the rear of the head once, and then he washed his feet up to the ankles. (Using translation from Bukhārī 186)
1.89 [Machine] The Virtue of Repetition in Wudu
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed ablution once, then he said, "This is the ablution for one whose prayer is not accepted except with it." Then he performed ablution twice, then he said, "This is the ablution that doubles the reward for him twice." Then he performed ablution three times, then he said, "This is my ablution and the ablution of the messengers before me." This is the wording of the hadith of Abu Arubah, and in the hadith of Abdullah ibn Sulayman it is mentioned that Allah does not accept his prayer except with it, and Allah multiplies the reward for him. This hadith is mentioned by Musayyab bin Wadih in a unique way and it is not strong, and it is narrated from another way by Ibn Umar.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ called for water and performed ablution once, saying, "This ablution is not accepted by Allah for prayer except with it." Then he called for water and performed ablution twice, saying, "This is my ablution, and the ablution of the Prophets before me, and this is narrated from Abdur-Rahim bin Zaid Al-Ami from his father, and they opposed others in narrating this, but they are not strong in the narration. And Allah knows best.
1.90 [Machine] The virtue of ablution
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When a bondsman-a Muslim or a believer-washes his face (in course of ablution), every sin he contemplated with his eyes, will be washed away from his face along with water, or with the last drop of water; when he washes his hands, every sin they wrought will be effaced from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of water; and when he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet have walked will be washed away with the water or with the last drop of water with the result that he comes out pure from all sins. (Using translation from Muslim 244)
[Machine] Amr ibn Abasa al-Sulami said, "I mentioned a long story about his [the Prophet's] arrival in Mecca and his arrival in Medina. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is ablution? Tell me about it.' He said, 'When any one of you approaches his ablution, and then gargles and sniffs water up his nose and expels it, his sins and his impurities come out with the water. Then, when he washes his face as Allah has commanded him, his sins and the impurities of his face come out from the ends of his beard with the water. Then he washes his hands up to the elbows, and his sins and the impurities of his hands come out from his fingertips with the water. Then he wipes his head, and his sins and the impurities of his head come out from the ends of his hair with the water. Then he washes his feet up to the ankles, and his sins and the impurities of his feet come out from his toes with the water. If he stands and prays and praises and glorifies Allah, who is worthy of praise and glorification, and devotes his heart solely to Allah, then he will depart from his sin in the same state as when his mother gave birth to him.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When a servant performs ablution and rinses his mouth, his sins come out with the water from his mouth. And when he blows his nose, his sins come out with the water from his nose. And when he washes his face, his sins come out of his face, even from under the corners of his eyes. And when he washes his hands, his sins come out from his hands, even from under his nails. And when he wipes his head, his sins come out from his head, even from his ears. And when he washes his feet, his sins come out from his feet, even from under his toenails. Then when he walks to the mosque and prays his voluntary prayer, I have been informed by Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz that he said: I heard Abu Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub say: I heard Al-Abbas ibn Muhammad Al-Duri say: I heard Yahya ibn Ma'in say: 'Ata ibn Yassar narrated from Abdullah Al-Sunabihi, also known as Abu Abdullah Al-Sanabehi, that he was a companion of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, and Al-Sunabehi was a companion of Qais ibn Abi Hazim, also known as Al-Sunabehi ibn Al-Asar. This is what Yahya ibn Ma'in said, and Al-Bukhari claimed that Malik ibn Anas is mistaken in this matter, and it is indeed Abu Abdullah Abdur-Rahman ibn Usayla Al-Sunabehi who narrated from Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. And Al-Sunabehi ibn Al-Asar is a companion of the Prophet ﷺ . Imam Ahmad also said, and this hadith is mursal."

He who performed ablution for prayer and performed it properly and then went (to observe) obligatory prayer and offered it along with people or with the congregation or in the mosque, Allah would pardon his sins. (Using translation from Muslim 232b)
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: "Shall I not inform you of what Allah erases sins with and elevates ranks with? Performing ablution in difficult situations, frequenting the mosques despite the difficulty, and waiting for prayer after prayer. That is Al-Ribaat, that is Al-Ribaat, that is Al-Ribaat." Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz narrated to us, who is Abu Al-Fadl Ibn Ibrahim, who was informed by Ahmad Ibn Salamah, who was informed by Ishaq Ibn Musa Al-Ansari and Abdul Rahman Ibn Bishr Al-Abdi, who both said, narrating from Ma'n Ibn Isa, that it was mentioned to him in a similar manner. And Muslim Ibn Al-Hajjaj narrated it in Sahih from Ishaq Ibn Musa.

[Machine] While I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night, he descended and fulfilled his need, then he came and I poured some water from the container that I had with me on his hands, so he performed ablution and wiped over his socks.
1.93 [Machine] Differentiation of ablution
The Prophet ﷺ saw a person offering prayer, and on the back of his foot a small part equal to the space of a dirham remained unwashed; the water did not reach it. The Prophet ﷺ commanded him to repeat the ablution and prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 175)
[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ having performed ablution, but he left a small area on his foot unwashed. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told him to go back and perfect his ablution. Abu Dawood said: "This hadith is not well-known and it has not been narrated from Jarir ibn Hazim except by Ibn Wahb, and with this chain it means the same as the hadith of Qatadah, and this (narration) is Mursal." Abu Dawood said that Musa ibn Ismail narrated to him from Hammad, from Yunus and Humaid, from Al Hasan, from the Prophet ﷺ with a similar meaning to the hadith of Qatadah, and this is a Mursal hadith. Abu Dawood added.
[Machine] Narrated from the Prophet, ﷺ , that he said, "Go back and perfect your ablution." So he went back and then prayed. The sheikh informed us, Abu Nasr ibn Qatadah narrated to us, Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Zakariya informed us, Abu al-Fadl Ahmad ibn Salamah al-Bazzar informed us, and Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn A'yan informed us, Maqil mentioned its wording.
[Machine] "That his command for ablution was within the realm of recommendation and indeed, the obligatory act is only the washing of that shining spot."
[Machine] O Commander of the Faithful, the cold is intense and I do not have anything to warm me. He made him upset and then said to him, "Wash what you left from your feet and repeat the prayer." And he ordered him a cloak.
[Machine] Narrated from Qutaibah with this wording, "And Ata' used to say that there is no harm in dividing the ablution into parts," and this is the saying of Al-Hasan and Al-Nakha'i, and the most correct saying of Al-Shafi'i.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a group of people sitting on their heels, with the water not reaching the place of a dirham or the size of a fingernail. He said, "Woe to the heels from the Fire." And one of them was seen repeatedly performing ablution when he saw a spot on his heel that was not washed. This, if authenticated, is something they chose for themselves, and it is possible that he meant only to redo the ablution for that specific spot.

[Machine] He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, when he came out of the mosque and wanted to go to Safa, "We will start with what Allah started with." So he began with Safa. Abu al-Hasan ibn Abdan informed us, Ahmed ibn Ubayd told us, I am Hisham ibn Ali, Abd Allah ibn Abd al-Wahhab al-Hajabi told us, Hatim ibn Ismail narrated it from Ja'far ibn Muhammad, and he mentioned it.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Begin with what Allah began with, 'Indeed, Al-Safa and Al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah.'" [Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 158]
[Machine] Do I start with Safa before Marwah or Marwah before Safa? Do I pray before going around or go around before praying? Do I shave before slaughtering or slaughter before shaving? Ibn Abbas said, "Take that from the Book of Allah, for it is more deserving to be preserved." Allah the Exalted says, "Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah." [Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:158] So Safa comes before Marwah. And Allah the Exalted says, "And do not shave your heads until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter." Slaughtering comes before shaving. And Allah the Exalted says, "Purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who stand [in prayer] and those who bow and prostrate." [Surah Al-Hajj, 22:26] Tawaf comes before prayer.
[Machine] A man gave a sermon to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger is guided, and whoever disobeys them has gone astray." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What a bad speaker you are! Say, 'Whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has gone astray.'" This is a shortened version of the narration of Waki' and the narration of Abu Hudhayfah. He then said, "You are a bad speaker!" and did not mention what followed afterwards.

The Messenger of Allah liked to start on the right when purifying himself, when combing his hair and when putting on his footwear. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 401)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to prefer to do everything on his right side to the best of his ability, including walking, wearing shoes, and performing ablution.
The Prophet ﷺ said: When you put on (a garment) and when you perform ablution, you should begin with your right side. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4141)

[Machine] Ali said, "I don't mind if I start with the left before the right when performing ablution." And it was narrated by Awf from Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Hind who said, Ali said, "I don't mind which part of my body I begin with when completing my ablution." It is possible that his intention was in line with what was mentioned in the narration of Hafs ibn Ghiyath. And Allah knows best, although it is weakly transmitted. Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated it from Al-Ansari from Awf from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Hind. This hadith was then mentioned, and Awf said that he did not hear it from Ali.
[Machine] About the man who performed ablution and started with his left side before his right side, Abu Abdullah heard Waki saying that Abu Bahr Al-Hilali, whose name is Ahnaf, said, "The Sheikh (i.e., Abdullah ibn Masud) narrated that if he wished, he would start with his left side in ablution." Abu Al-Obaidain narrated from Abdullah ibn Masud that he was asked about a man who performed ablution and started with his left side, and he said, "There is no harm." Sulaiman ibn Musa narrated from Mujahid who said, "Abdullah said, 'There is no harm in starting with your feet before your hands.'" Ad-Daraqutni said, "This is a Mursal (a type of Hadith where the successor narrates directly from the Prophet without an intervening companion) and is not established because Mujahid did not meet Abdullah ibn Masud."

[Machine] It was in the book of the Prophet ﷺ to Amr ibn Hazm, "Do not touch the Quran except while you are in a state of purification."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ wrote a letter to the people of Yemen containing the laws, traditions, and penalties, and sent it with Amr ibn Hazm, who mentioned the hadith in it and stated that nothing should touch the Quran except those who are pure.

[Machine] Umar came out carrying his sword, and he mentioned the conversation. It was said to him, "Indeed, your sister and cousin have converted and abandoned the religion that you are upon." Umar walked until he reached them, and there was a man from the Emigrants with them, known as Khabbab. They used to recite Surah Ta-Ha. So Umar said, "Give me the book that you have with you so that I may read." He (Khabbab) said, "But Umar was considered impure, and it is only touched by the purified." Umar stood up and performed ablution, then he took the book and recited Surah Ta-Ha. And due to this incident, there are many pieces of evidence, and it is the statement of the seven jurists from the people of Madinah.

[Machine] He asked about both of your religions and then entered the restroom to relieve himself. Then he came out and took a handful of water and wiped with it. After that, he began reciting the Quran. It seemed as though he realized that we found this strange, so he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would relieve himself and recite the Quran and eat meat with us without being veiled, and perhaps he meant that something other than janabah prevents one from reciting the Quran."

Ibn Wahb said, and Malik ibn Anas and Layth ibn Sa'd said something similar to this. The scholar (may Allah have mercy on him) said, and al-Waqidi narrated it from Abdullah ibn Sulayman in this way.
[Machine] "From Umar, and he is the correct (authentic/reliable) one."
[Machine] In the south, it is said that the Quran should not be recited while in a state of impurity, even a single letter. Abu Ishaq reported from Al-Harith from Ali who said, "Recite the Quran in every situation except when you are in a state of impurity." This is the statement of Al-Hasan, Al-Nakhai, Al-Zuhri, and Qatadah. It is also mentioned that Ibn Abbas said, "There is no harm in reciting a verse or similar while in a state of impurity." It is also reported from him that he said, "A verse, or two verses, or whoever disagrees with this more, and among them are two imams and with them is the apparent meaning of the narration."

1.99 [Machine] Interpretation: Mentioning the Hadith that mentioned the prohibition of menstruating women from reciting the Quran and its conditions
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah said, "Neither the junub (a person in a state of impurity after sexual intercourse) nor a menstruating woman should recite anything from the Quran." Muhammad ibn Isma'il Al-Bukhari reported from Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash, who heard it from Musa ibn 'Uqbah, and I (Muhammad ibn Isma'il Al-Bukhari) do not know it from any other hadith narrator. Isma'il is considered to be unreliable in hadith according to the people of Hijaz and Iraq. The Sheikh (scholar) said, this hadith has also been narrated from others besides Musa ibn 'Uqbah, but it is not authentic. It has also been narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah regarding the junub, menstruating woman, and the woman experiencing post-childbirth bleeding, but it is not strong.

1.100 [Machine] Reading the Quran after the ritual impurity.
[Machine] I lay on the width of the pillow, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his family laid on its length. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept until the middle of the night or a little before or after it. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up and wiped the sleep off his face with his hand. Then, he recited the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran. After that, he stood up and performed ablution from a hanging water skin, and he performed his ablution excellently. Then, he stood up and prayed, and mentioned the rest of the narration.
[Machine] There was a man who had not performed ablution, O Commander of the Faithful, while you were reciting. Umar asked, "Who gave you this fatwa on this matter?" It was narrated by Hisham from Ibn Sirin from Abu Maryam Iyas ibn Subayh, who said, "I was with Umar, and he mentioned the meaning of it, and Al-Bukhari mentioned it in his book Al-Tareekh."
[Machine] We were with Salman on a journey, and he went and fulfilled his need. Then he came back and we said to him, "O Abu Abdullah, perform ablution perhaps we may ask you about a verse from the Quran." He replied, "Ask, for I do not touch it unless I am in a state of ritual purity." And indeed it is not touched except by the purified ones. So we asked him, and he recited to us before performing ablution.
[Machine] It is okay to read the Quran without ablution. As for when you are in a state of major ritual impurity, then not a single letter should be uttered.
