[Machine] A man gave a sermon to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger is guided, and whoever disobeys them has gone astray." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What a bad speaker you are! Say, 'Whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has gone astray.'" This is a shortened version of the narration of Waki' and the narration of Abu Hudhayfah. He then said, "You are a bad speaker!" and did not mention what followed afterwards.  

البيهقي:٤٠٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ نا تَمْتَامٌ نا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ نا سُفْيَانُ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحِ بْنُ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْقَاضِي نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أنا وَكِيعُ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ نا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ

خَطَبَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ مَنْ يُطِعِ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ رَشَدَ وَمَنْ يَعْصِهِمَا فَقَدْ غَوَى فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِئْسَ الْخَطِيبُ أَنْتَ قُلْ وَمَنْ يعْصِ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ غَوَى هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ وَكِيعٍ وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ مُخْتَصَرٌ فَقَالَ قُمْ بِئْسَ الْخَطِيبُ أَنْتَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ مَا بَعْدَهُ

Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What a bad speaker you are; say: He who disobeys Allah and His Apostle. Ibn Numair added: He in fact went astray.

[Machine] A man delivered a speech in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said, "Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger is on the right path, and whoever disobeys them has gone astray." Upon hearing this, the Prophet ﷺ said, "What a terrible speaker you are! Say, whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has gone astray." This is the wording of a narration by Waki' but Al-'Adani did not mention that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Say, whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has gone astray."
