19. Chapter of ʿAyn (Male) (1/147)
[Machine] While we were around the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, if he mentioned Fitnah or it was mentioned in his presence, he would say, "When you see people breaking their covenant and trust becoming weak, and they act in this way." He would intertwine his fingers and say, "Then rise and take care of your affairs. Control your tongue and take what you know and leave what you do not. And be concerned with your own matters and leave the matters of the public."
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "How will you be in a time or a time will come when people will be sifted and the dregs of people will remain, as if their covenants and trusts have melted away and they have disagreed and become like this." And he interlaced his fingers. They said, "What will be our condition, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "You will take what you know and leave what you reject, and you will attend to your specific matters and disregard the general affairs."
[Machine] He informed him that the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "How will it be for you when a time comes where people are sifted like sifters, and you will remain in the rubbish of people, their covenants have been violated, and they have abandoned their trusts and returned like this?" And he put his fingers together and said, "What should we do, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "You should take what you know and reject what you deny, and rely on your distinguished ones and leave your common people."

He replied, "Hold on to what you know and reject what you deny, and be concerned with your own self and beware of the general masses."

Then he interlaced his fingers. I said, "How should I be, O Messenger of Allah?" [Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever drinks wine, flog him, then if he drinks again, flog him, then if he drinks again, flog him, then if he drinks it for the fourth time, kill him.' Abdullah bin Amr used to say, 'Bring me a man who has drunk wine three times, for I will surely strike his neck.'"

[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us holding two books in his hand and said, "Do you know what these two books are?" We said, "No, unless you inform us, O messenger of Allah." He said, "This is the book of the Lord of the worlds, it contains the names of the people of Paradise, their fathers' names, and their tribes. Then it will be perfected with the names of their last ones, and nothing will be added to or subtracted from them ever. And this is the book of the people of Hell, with their names, their fathers' names, and their tribes. Then it will be perfected with the names of their last ones, and nothing will be added to or subtracted from them ever." The companions of the messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "What is the use of any deeds if this matter has already been decided?" The messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Rather, do good deeds and strive, for the deeds of the people of Paradise will be sealed for them with the deeds of Paradise, even if they had performed any other deed, and the deeds of the people of Hell will be sealed for them with the deeds of the people of Hell, even if they had performed any other deed. Your Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, has concluded their matter." Then the messenger of Allah, ﷺ , threw the two books with his hands and said, "Your Lord has concluded the matter of His creation: a group will be in Paradise and a group will be in the Blaze."

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever is prevented by birds from fulfilling his need, then he has committed an act of shirk (associating partners with Allah).' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is the expiation for that?' He said, 'You say, O Allah, there is no bird except Your bird, and there is no good except Your good, and there is no deity except You.'"
[Machine] A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, the Mu'adhdhins are given preference over us." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Say what the Mu'adhdhin says, then when you finish, ask for what you need."
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The world is a provision, and the best provision in it is a righteous spouse.'"
"The companion who is the best to Allah is the one who is best to his companion. And the neighbor that is the best to Allah is the one that is best to his neighbor." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1944)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, the poor among the emigrants will precede the wealthy on the Day of Judgment by forty autumns."
[Machine] He heard Abdullah ibn Amr saying, "The good deed that I do today is more beloved to me than two like it with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , because when we were with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , the Hereafter was our main concern, and the world did not concern us. But today, the world has overwhelmed us."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Success has been bestowed upon the one whom Allah has provided with sufficiency and contentment with what He has given him."
[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to a man's grave, and when we returned and approached his house, we saw a woman whom we did not think he recognized. He said, "O Fatimah, where did you come from?" She said, "I came from the family of this deceased. I showed them condolences and comforted them." He said, "Perhaps you have reached the graves with them?" She said, "May Allah forbid me from reaching the graves with them. But I heard you mention from them what you mentioned." He said, "If you had reached the graves with them, you would not have seen paradise until your grandfather sees it." And the graves are the cemeteries.
[Machine] A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, should we stand up for the funeral of a non-believer?" He replied, "Yes, stand up for it, for you are not standing up for the deceased, but rather for the angels who are with them."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not wish to meet the enemy and ask Allah for well-being. But if you meet them, stand firm. If they retreat and shout, then remain silent."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This world is a provision, and the best provision in it is a righteous woman."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Do not wish to meet the enemy, but ask Allah for safety. However, if you meet them, then be firm and remember Allah abundantly. And if they provoke and shout at you, then remain silent."
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ asked a man from the Ansar, 'What do you say when you sleep?' He replied, 'I say: O Allah, I have placed my side, so forgive me.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Allah has forgiven you.'"
[Machine] Shall I teach you the words that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach Abu Bakr when he wanted to sleep? We said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You are the Lord of everything and its King. I bear witness that there is no deity except You alone, with no partner, and the angels bear witness too. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the devil and his associates. I seek refuge in You from causing harm to myself or causing harm to a Muslim."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever sacrifices himself for the sake of Allah, Allah will forgive him all his previous sins."
[Machine] When the Prophet ﷺ commanded the digging of the trench around the city, they said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have found a hill that we are unable to dig." So the Prophet ﷺ stood up and we stood up with him. When he reached for the pickaxe, he struck it with a blow and shouted "Al-Faris has been conquered!" Then he struck another and shouted "The Romans have been conquered!" Then he struck another and shouted "Allah has brought the donkey as helpers and supporters!"
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever loves a person for the sake of Allah, then Allah will also love him, and they both will enter Paradise together. The one who loves for the sake of Allah will have a higher status than the one who loves for other reasons.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah supports Islam with men who are not from its people."
