4. Book of Jumuʿah
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever performs ghusl (ritual bath) and purifies themselves on the day of Jumu'ah (Friday), then hastens to the mosque early and attends the Friday prayer without engaging in any distraction, they will receive the reward of a whole year's worth of fasting and praying for every step they take." This hadith has been authenticated through these chains of narrators according to the conditions set by the two leading scholars (Bukhari and Muslim). They did not exclude it, and I believe this narration is weak and cannot be justified with such chains." This is a narration with a flawed chain.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever performs ghusl on the day of Jumu'ah (Friday), then performs wudu' (ablution), then goes close to the Imam, listens attentively, and remains silent, for every step he takes, he will receive the reward equivalent to a year of fasting and standing (in prayer)." This does not justify the established authentic narrations for several reasons. Firstly, Hassan ibn Atiyya has mentioned the hearing of Aws ibn Aws from the Prophet ﷺ. Secondly, Thor ibn Yazid is not included in those who can be cited as evidence against them. And thirdly, Othman Ash-Shaibani is considered unknown.
[Machine] My father entered while I was bathing on Friday, and he asked, "Is it a bath due to impurity or for Friday?" I replied, "It's for impurity." He said, "Prepare another bath because I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever bathes on the day of Friday will remain in a state of purity until the next Friday.'"
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever performs ghusl (ritual bath) on the day of Jumu'ah (Friday), puts on his best clothes, applies perfume if he has it, then goes to Jumu'ah prayer and does not engage in any wrongdoing or cross the lines of others, and then prays whatever Allah wishes him to pray, and remains silent when the Imam comes out, then this is an expiation (kaffarah) for all sins until the next Jumu'ah.'"
[Machine] We heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever takes a bath on the day of Jumu'ah, purifies himself, uses some perfume if he has it, wears his best clothes, then goes to the mosque without causing harm to others, and prays as many voluntary prayers as Allah enables him to, then remains silent until the Imam finishes the prayer, his acts will serve as an expiation for the sins committed between that Jumu'ah and the previous one." Abu Hurairah said: "And three more days are considered extra rewards, as Allah has made the reward of a good deed ten times its value." (Isma'il ibn 'Ulayyah narrated this hadith, and both he and Abu Hurairah agreed on its authenticity.)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to, when he would go out on the day of Friday, sit on the pulpit and Bilal would call the prayer.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ ascended the pulpit on Friday and said to the people, "Sit down." Ibn Mas'ood heard it while he was at the door of the mosque, so he sat down. The Prophet ﷺ then said to him, "Come, O Ibn Mas'ood."
Ibn ‘Abbas said to his mu’adhdhin on a rainy day: “when you utter the words ‘ I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,” do not say,” Come to prayer” but say “Pray at your homes,” By this (announcement) the people were surprised. He said: One who was better than me has done it. The Friday prayer is an obligatory duty. But I disliked to put you to hardship so that you might walk in mud and rain. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1066)
[Machine] "I did not memorize it except from what I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, reciting it every Friday." She said, "And it used to be our light, and the light of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was one."
[Machine] "I read Surah Al-Quran Al-Majeed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He used to recite it every Friday when addressing the people." Yahya bin Abdullah is the son of Abdul Rahman bin Asad bin Zurarah.
[Machine] He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us one day and recited Surah "Sad". When he reached the prostration in the recitation, he descended and prostrated, and we also prostrated. He recited it again and when he reached the prostration, he informed us about the prostration. When he saw us, he said, "Indeed, it is the repentance of a Prophet, but I see that you have already prepared for the prostration." So he descended and prostrated, and we also prostrated."

[Machine] "When I approached the city of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , I dismounted my ride and removed my traveling clothes. I adorned my best clothes and entered while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering a sermon. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ greeted me and the people stared at me. I said to my companion, 'O Abdullah, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention anything about me?' He replied, 'Yes, he mentioned you in the best possible way.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Indeed, he will enter upon you through this door or through this gap, bringing good tidings from the right side, and on his face will be the mark of an angel.' So I thanked Allah for what had been made clear to me."
[Machine] "I would not leave it after seeing it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then, a man mentioned it who came on Friday while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was giving the sermon. Then, another Friday came and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was giving the sermon, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded the people to give charity. The man then threw one of his garments, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed and then reproached him, saying, 'Take your garment.' Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'This entered into a reprehensible form, so I commanded the people to give charity.' So, he threw this garment, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to pray two Rak'ahs."
"Abu Rifa'ah said: 'I came to the Messenger of Allah [SAW] while he was delivering a Khutbah, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, a stranger has come to ask about his religion, for he does not know what his religion is." The Messenger of Allah [SAW] stopped delivering his Khutbah and turned to me. A chair was brought, and I think its legs were of iron. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] sat down on it and started to teach me what Allah has taught him, then he went and completed his Khutbah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5377)
[Machine] When the Prophet ﷺ ascended the pulpit, he said, "Sit down." Ibn Masud heard this and sat at the entrance of the mosque. The Prophet ﷺ saw him and said, "Come here, O Abdullah ibn Masud."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver his sermons while sitting on the pulpit. Someone denied this, but I bear witness that I saw him delivering his sermon while standing, then he would sit, then stand again and deliver another sermon. I asked, "How was his sermon?" He said, "He would speak words that would admonish the people and recite verses from the Book of Allah. Then he would descend. His sermon was concise, and his prayer was towards the sun when it had passed its zenith, towards the sky, and towards the morning and evening stars, except for the Fajr (dawn) prayer and the Dhuhr (noon) prayer. Bilal would call the prayer when the sun declined. If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived, he would stand up, and if not, he would remain silent until he came out. As for the Asr (afternoon) prayer, it was performed similar to how you perform it, and the Maghrib (evening) prayer was performed similar to how you perform it. He would delay the Isha (night) prayer a little for your sake."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, giving a sermon, saying, "I have warned you of the Fire, I have warned you of the Fire." Even if a man was in the market, he would have heard it from my place until a garment that was on his shoulders fell down to his ankles.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to deliver a sermon. Al-Hasan and Al-Husain (peace be upon them) came wearing two red shirts, stumbling and walking. He welcomed them and took them in front of him. Then he said, "Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth: Verily, your wealth and your children are but a trial." [Surah Al-Taghabun, verse 15] I saw these two children of mine and could not bear it until I came down and took them. Then he continued with his sermon. This is an authentic hadith according to the conditions of Muslim, and it has not been excluded. It is the basis for interrupting the sermon and descending from the pulpit when necessary.
[Machine] I entered the mosque and the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon, so I sat close to Ubayy ibn Ka'b. The Prophet ﷺ recited Surah Bara'ah, so I asked Ubayy, "When was this Surah revealed?" "The narration goes that it was revealed..."
[Machine] He talked to us until the Imam left, and then a man came who was taller than everyone else, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was giving a sermon. The Messenger said to him, "Sit down, for you have caused harm and disturbance."
The Prophet ﷺ said: The Friday prayer in congregation is a necessary duty for every Muslim, with four exceptions; a slave, a woman, a boy, and a sick person. Abu Dawud said: Tariq b. Shihab had seen the Prophet ﷺ but not heard anything from him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1067)
Ilyas ibn AbuRamlah ash-Shami said: I witnessed Mu'awiyah ibn AbuSufyan asking Zayd ibn Arqam: Did you offer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the Friday and 'Id prayers synchronised on the same day? He said: Yes. He asked: How did he do? He replied: He offered the 'Id prayer, then granted concession to offer the Friday prayer, and said: If anyone wants to offer it, he may offer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1070)
The Prophet ﷺ said: Two festivals ('Id and Friday) have synchronised on this day. If anyone does not want to offer the Friday prayer, the 'Id prayer is sufficient for him. But we shall offer the Friday prayer. This tradition has been narrated by 'Umar from Shu'bah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1073)
A speaker gave sermon before the prophet (May peace be upon him). He said : he who obeys Allah and his Prophet will follow the right course, and he who disobeys them. He (The prophet) said: get up; he said: go away, a bad speaker you are. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4981)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to shorten the speeches. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1106)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not lengthen the sermon on Friday. He would say a few words. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1107)
[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "Seek out the remembrance (of Allah) and come close to the Imam, for a person will continue to separate (from Allah) until he is left behind in Paradise, even if he enters it."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited to sit on hips by erecting feet, sticking them to the stomach and holding them with hands on Friday while the imam is delivering the sermon. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1110)
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ descending from the pulpit, and a man came to him with a need. He stood with him until he fulfilled his need."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered the prayer in his apartment and people were following him behind apartment. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1126)
When Ibn 'Umar offered the Friday prayer in Mecca he would go forward and pray two rak'ahs, he would then go forward and pray four rak'ahs; but when he was in Medina, he offered the Friday prayer, then returned to his house and prayed two rak'ahs, not praying them in the mosque. Someone mentioned this to him and he replied that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1130)
Ibn Jurayj said: Ata' told me that he saw Ibn Umar pray after the Friday prayer. He moved a little from the place where he offered the Friday prayer. Then he would pray two rak'ahs. He then walked far away from that place and would offer four rak'ahs. I asked Ata': How many times did you see Ibn Umar do that? He replied: Many times. AbuDawud said: This has been narrated by AbdulMalik ibn AbuSulayman, but did not narrate it completely. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1133)
“Whoever takes a bath on a Friday and does it well, and purifies himself and does it well, and puts on his best clothes, and puts on whatever Allah decrees for him of the perfume of his family, then comes to the mosque and does not engage in idle talk or separate (pushing between) two people; he will be forgiven for (his sins) between that day and the previous Friday.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1097)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any of you dozes off on Friday in his gathering, then he should move from that gathering."
[Machine] "We used to pray the Friday prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and we would rush towards the soft-ground. There would only be as much space as the length of one or two feet."
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever catches up with a rak'ah of Jumu'ah prayer has caught up with it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1425)
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira with another chain of transmitters. (Using translation from Muslim 1716b)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever catches a rak'ah (unit of prayer) of Jumu'ah (Friday prayer), let him pray another rak'ah with it." All of these three chains of narration are authentic according to the conditions of the two sheikhs (referring to Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not exclude it with this wording. Rather, they agreed upon the hadith of Az-Zuhri from Abu Salamah from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever catches a rak'ah of the prayer, and whoever catches a rak'ah of Asr prayer." And Muslim included it with the addition, so whoever catches all of them, has indeed caught them all.
I intend that I should command a person to lead people in prayer, and then burn those persons who absent themselves from Jumu'a prayer in their houses. (Using translation from Muslim 652)
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever abandons Friday (prayer) three times, for no necessary reason, Allah will place a seal over his heart.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1126)
[Machine] About Abu Al-Jaad Al-Dimri, "I verified it according to the conditions of Muslim, and this is a reliable witness. I found it later, and it has another witness from the hadith of Muhammad ibn Ajlan, which is also authentic according to the conditions of Muslim, and they did not exclude it." Authentic.
[Machine] The Prophet (pbuh) said, "Indeed, can one of you imagine taking a rope from a sheep's wool, which is a mile or two miles long, and then finding it difficult to loosen it from his neck, causing him to be elevated until Friday comes, and he does not attend it until it is engraved on his heart." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about this in his concise summary.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When it rains heavily, pray in your tents." Naseeh bin Al-Ala' Basri, who is trustworthy, narrated that [...] Indeed, the one who criticized this hadith is Naseeh Abu Abdullah Al-Muhalimi Al-Kufi, as it was reported by Samaak bin Harb. Al-Nasa'i considered him weak. This means that Naseeh bin Al-Ala' is trustworthy. Al-Bukhari said that he is a denier of hadith.

Then the Prophet, peace be upon him, commanded them to pray in their places of encampment. This is a hadith with a sound chain of narration. The two sheikhs have cited its narrators as evidence, and it is of the kind for which they requested a continuous chain of transmission from the Successor to the Companions, and they did not exclude it." This is authentic.
