The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not lengthen the sermon on Friday. He would say a few words. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1107)  

الحاكم:١٠٦٧ – حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ أَخْبَرَنِي شَيْبَانُ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا يُطِيلُ الْمَوْعِظَةَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ إِنَّمَا هُنَّ كَلِمَاتٌ يَسِيرَاتٌ»
