1. Purification (13/28)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever touches his private parts or his female private parts or any other private part, then he should perform ablution." And in the narration of Attusi or Rufghay, then he should perform ablution, and his ablution is for prayer. Ali ibn Umar Al-Hafidh said, "This is how it is."
[Machine] She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution." 'Urwah said, "When he touches his two limbs or his genitals, male or female, he should perform ablution."
[Machine] My father used to say that if his penis, testicles, or anus touched something, he wouldn't pray until he performed ablution. This is narrated from Hisham ibn Urwah from another perspective, which is unreliable. The correct narration is from Urwah himself. The analogy is that there is no requirement for ablution if the touch is during sexual intercourse, but we still follow the Sunnah in affirming ablution for touching the genitals, and it is not obligatory for anything else.
1.153 [Machine] In the armpit.
[Machine] We performed Tayammum (dry ablution) with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Al-Manakib. Sufyan said, "I accompanied Ismail ibn Umayyah, who went to Al-Zuhri and said, 'O Abu Bakr, people criticize you for two hadiths.' He asked, 'What are they?' Ismail said, 'We performed Tayammum with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Al-Manakib.' Al-Zuhri said, 'Ubaidullah ibn Abdullah informed me about it, who heard it from his father, who heard it from Ammar. We performed Tayammum with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Al-Manakib.' Ismail said, 'And the hadith of Ubaidullah about wiping the armpits, as if Al-Zuhri disliked it or criticized it.' So I went to Amr ibn Dinar and informed him, even though I heard him narrating it from Al-Zuhri. Amr said, 'Rather, Al-Zuhri narrated to me from Ubaidullah that Umar commanded a man to perform Wudu (ablution) by washing his hands completely clean.' The Shaykh said, 'The hadith about wiping the armpits is Mursal (a type of narration), narrated by Ubaidullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah, but Umar ibn Al-Khattab did not hear it, and Al-Zuhri criticized it after narrating it. It is also possible that it refers to cleaning the hands, and Allah knows best.' It was also narrated from Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas, and one of them disagreed with his companion regarding this matter."

[Machine] Narrated by Ibn 'Umar, what agrees with Ibn 'Abbas.
[Machine] I saw Ibn Umar insert his hand into his armpit while he was praying, and then he continued his prayer.
[Machine] The Sheikh, which is the saying of Al-Hasan Al-Basri and Al-Harith Al-Ukli from the followers, and it is the saying of Al-Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy upon him and them.
1.154 [Machine] In the damp touch of impurity.
[Machine] I heard my grandmother Asmaa say, "I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about menstrual blood staining garments. He said: 'Rub it with water, then sprinkle it with water, and then pray in it.' Abu Sa'eed added in his narration: Al-Shafi'i said: 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that menstrual blood be washed off with the hand, but did not command to perform ablution if one touches it, and blood is impure, then everything that is touched by impurity is considered impure unless there is a clear indication that it is not, therefore it is more appropriate for it not to necessitate ablution except for what the news specifically mentions.'"
1.155 [Machine] In the midst of the dry filth
that Allah's Apostle ( ﷺ) happened to walk through the bazar coming from the side of 'Aliya and the people were on both his sides. There he found a dead lamb with very short ears. He took hold of his ear and said: Who amongst you would like to have this for a dirham? They said: We do not like to have it even for less than that as it is of no use to us. He said: Do you wish to have it (free of any cost)? They said: By Allah, even if it were alive (we would not have liked to possess that), for there is defect in it as its ear is very short; now it is dead also.
Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: By Allah, this world is more insignificant in the eye of Allah than it (this dead lamb) is in your eye. (Using translation from Muslim 2957a)
[Machine] We used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ without performing ablution from a stepping place and likewise.
1.156 [Machine] Leaving ablution due to blood exiting from other than the exit of impurity.
[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition of Thaat ar-Riqa' from a date grove. A Muslim man accidentally struck the wife of a man from the polytheists. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his army's preparations and left, he went to her husband who was absent. When he heard the news, he swore not to stop until he shed the blood of the companions of Muhammad. He went out to follow the trace of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who stopped in a place and said, "Who will protect us tonight?" One man from the Muhajireen and another from the Ansar responded, saying, "We will, O Messenger of Allah." He instructed them to stay near the mouth of the valley. When they reached the mouth of the valley, the Ansari asked the Muhajir, "Which part of the night do you prefer for me to protect you, the beginning or the end?" The Muhajir replied, "No, you should protect me first." So the Muhajir laid down to sleep, while the Ansari began praying. The husband of the woman came, and when he saw the man, he recognized him as the leader of his people, so he shot an arrow at him, which hit him. He pulled it out and put it back, remaining standing to continue his prayer. Then the man shot another arrow at him, which hit him. He pulled it out and put it back, remaining standing to continue his prayer. Then the man shot a third arrow at him, which hit him. He pulled it out and put it back, and then he bowed and prostrated. His companion said to him, "Sit down, you have been affirmed." He leaped up, and when the man saw him, he realized that they had made a solemn vow concerning him, so he fled. When the Muhajir saw the Ansari covered in blood, he said, "Glory be to Allah! Why didn't you wake me up when he shot at you the first time?" The Ansari replied, "I was reciting a surah that I did not want to cut off until I completed it. When he shot at me the second time, I bowed. I was following the orders of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to be cautious, otherwise I would have killed myself before he killed me or completed his task."
[Machine] Narrated by Jabir, he mentioned it briefly and towards the end of it, when Al-Muhajir saw the blood on Al-Ansari, he said, "Glory be to Allah! Did not you warn me from the very beginning when I threw you the first arrow?" He said, "I was reciting a surah and I did not want to interrupt it."
[Machine] He used to wash his face when he woke up. Al-Shafi'i narrated this from an unnamed man from Layth from Tawus from Ibn Abbas who said, "Wash the traces of sleep from your faces." It was also narrated from Anas bin Malik from the Prophet, except that there is weakness in its chain.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the prayer without ablution and did not exceed washing his private parts.
[Machine] And according to Qasim ibn Muhammad, the one who shaves his head does not need to perform ablution.
[Machine] He said, "Wudu (ablution) is not from nosebleeds, vomiting, touching the penis, or what the fire touches with obligation." So it was said to him, "Indeed, some people say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Perform ablution from what the fire touches.'" He said, "Indeed, a group heard but did not comprehend. We used to call washing the hands and mouth ablution, but it is not obligatory. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ only commanded the believers to wash their hands and mouths from what the fire touches, and it is not obligatory. Mu'tarrif bin Mazen spoke about it, and Allah knows best."
[Machine] "Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he said: 'If any one of you yawns in his prayer or feels drowsy or belches, then he should perform ablution (wudu) and repeat what remains of his prayer, as long as he did not speak.' Abu Ahmad said: 'This is the hadith.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you passes wind or emits urine or finds traces of semen while in prayer, let him withdraw, perform ablution, and return to his prayer without speaking." Abu Hassan narrated that Abu Bakr said, "I heard Muhammad ibn Yahya say that this is the correct narration from Ibn Juraij, who is a reliable narrator. However, the narration of Ibn Juraij from Ibn Abi Mulaykah from Aisha, which Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrates, is not valid." Imam Al-Shafi'i said about the narration of Ibn Juraij from his father, "This narration is not confirmed from the Prophet ﷺ , and he supports it with what has been narrated from Ibn 'Umar and others regarding washing some parts of the body." The Sheikh said that it is
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ vomited and broke his fast. I met Thawban in the mosque of Damascus and mentioned this incident to him. he said, "I poured water for him to perform ablution and the chain of narration for this hadith is disputed and they have strongly disagreed about it, and Allah knows best. It is mentioned along with other narrations in this chapter on the topic of disagreements."

[Machine] If a person laughs during prayer, they should repeat the prayer but do not need to repeat the ablution.

[Machine] "He used to pray with the people, then they saw something and some of those who were with him laughed. Abu Musa said, 'Whoever laughed among you should repeat the prayer and the same applies.'"
[Machine] A blind man came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was praying and stumbled into a well. Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ laughed. So the Prophet ﷺ ordered the one who laughed to repeat the ablution and the prayer. This hadith is mursal and the chains of narrators of Abu Al-Ala's hadith are not complete. Muhammad ibn Sirin said: "He doesn't care about those who take his hadith." It was also narrated from Al-Hasan Al-Basri, Ibrahim An-Nakha'i, and Az-Zuhri, as mursal.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to lead the people in prayer. One day, a blind man entered and stumbled into a well that was in the mosque. Those who were behind the Prophet ﷺ in their prayers laughed. After the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer, he ordered the person who had laughed to redo his ablution and prayer, even though they had just finished.
[Machine] A blind man came and the Prophet ﷺ was in prayer. The blind man stumbled and fell into a well, so they all laughed. Then the Prophet ﷺ commanded whoever laughed to repeat their ablution and prayer.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded a man who laughed during prayer to repeat his ablution and prayer. Al-Shafi'i said, "We did not accept this because it is a mursal narration." Al-Shafi'i then informed us that Al-Thaqafi reported from Ma'mar, from Ibn Shihab, from Sulaiman ibn Arqam, from Al-Hasan, from the Prophet ﷺ with this narration. The Sheikh said, "All of these narrations trace back to Abu Al-A'la Al-Riyahi, and what indicates that is what Abu Saad Al-Malini informed us." I am Abu Ahmad bin Addi Al-Hafiz, Ibn Sa'id said, Ismail bin Ishaq narrated to me, he said, "I heard Ali bin Al-Madinah saying, 'Abd Al-Rahman bin Mahdi told me about the hadith of laughing in prayer, that the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to repeat his ablution and prayer.' It keeps going back to Abu Al-A'la." Ali said, "So I said, 'Indeed, this hadith is widely known among us.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever swears an oath and mentions Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, let him say, 'There is no god but Allah.' And whoever says to his companion, 'Come, let us gamble,' let him give in charity."
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Whoever swears by Al-Lat and Al-Uzza should say, 'There is no deity but Allah.'" Ibn Shihab said, "And I have not been informed that ablution is mentioned in this regard."
1.159 [Machine] The Sunnah in taking from the nails, mustache, and what is mentioned with them, and not performing ablution for any of that. Allah Almighty said, "{And [mention] when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them}" [Al-Baqarah: 124]
[Machine] In His saying ﷻ "{And [mention] when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them}" [Al-Baqarah 124], it is said that Allah ﷻ tested him with five acts of purification on the head and five on the body. On the head, it is trimming the mustache, gargling with water, inhaling water into the nose, using a tooth stick, and parting the hair. On the body, it is trimming the nails, shaving the pubic hair, circumcision, shaving the armpits, and washing the private parts after relieving oneself and urinating with water. Ibn Zubayr reported in this book from Aisha, from the Prophet's ﷺ narration, ten acts of fitrah were mentioned except for mentioning the exemption of the beard, washing the joints, and circumcision.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Fitrah (natural disposition) consists of five things: circumcision, trimming the pubic hair, plucking the armpit hair, cutting the nails, and shaving the mustache."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Among the traditions is trimming the moustache, removing underarm hair, and cutting nails."
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "Leave the beard and trim the mustache."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Differ from the polytheists, spare the beard, and trim the mustache."
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Trim the mustaches and let the beard grow, and differ from the Magians.’ This hadith is recorded in Sahih Muslim, narrated by Muhammad ibn Ja’far and Al-Ala’."
A time limit has been prescribed for us for clipping the moustache, cutting the nails, plucking hair under the armpits, shaving the pubes, that it should not be neglected far more than forty nights. (Using translation from Muslim 258)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fixed forty days to shave the pubes, paring the nails, clipping the moustaches, and plucking the hair under the armpit. Abu Dawud said: Ja'far b. Sulaiman transmitted it from Abu 'Imran on the authority of Anas. In this version he did not mention the Prophet ﷺ. He said: Forty days were fixed for us. This is a more correct version. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4200)
[Machine] Why do I perform ablution? Because you are more intelligent and cautious than those who have named you intelligent. It has been narrated to us from Sha'bi that he said about a man who cuts his nails after ablution, his ablution is still valid. And from Al-Hasan, there is no ablution in it. And from 'Ata', he wiped the water off himself. And from Ibrahim, it is the same. And from Az-Zuhri, if he wanted, he wiped over it with water, and if he wanted, he left it.

[Machine] About al-Zuhri, regarding someone who trims his nails or cuts his mustache or shaves his hair, he said: If he wishes, he may wipe over it with water, and if he wishes, he may leave it.

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah saw a man with a long mustache, so he called for a tooth stick and a knife, and he placed the tooth stick under the mustache and trimmed it for him.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the Magi and said, "They grow their beards long and shave their mustaches. So, oppose them." Ibn Umar used to trim his mustache in such a way that it was as short as a sheep's or a camel's cut.
[Machine] About Uthman ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abi Rafi and it is said that he is the son of Rafi.
[Machine] I saw five companions of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) who were trimming their mustaches, leaving their beards, and dyeing their mustaches. Abu Umamah al-Bahili, Abdullah ibn Busr, Uthbah ibn Abdus-Salam, Al-Hajjaj ibn Amr ath-Thumali, and Al-Miqdad ibn Ma'dikarib al-Kindi were among them, and they used to trim their mustaches along the line of the lip.
[Machine] Malik ibn Anas mentioned that some people pluck their mustaches, so he said that those who do so should be reprimanded, as there is no tradition of the Prophet ﷺ regarding plucking the mustache. Rather, it displays the shape of the lips and mouth. Malik ibn Anas said that shaving the mustache is an innovation that has appeared among the people.
[Machine] Narrated Qutaybah, and in the hadith of Al-Qa'nabiyy: The Prophet ﷺ commanded the trimming of the mustaches and leaving the beards.
