[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ vomited and broke his fast. I met Thawban in the mosque of Damascus and mentioned this incident to him. he said, "I poured water for him to perform ablution and the chain of narration for this hadith is disputed and they have strongly disagreed about it, and Allah knows best. It is mentioned along with other narrations in this chapter on the topic of disagreements."  

البيهقي:٦٧١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ الْعَدْلُ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ثنا أَبِي عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الْمُعَلِّمِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ يَعِيشَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَعْدَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ فَلَقِيتُ ثَوْبَانَ فِي مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ أَنَا صَبَبْتُ لَهُ وَضُوءَهُ وَإِسْنَادُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ مُضْطَرِبٌ وَاخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ اخْتِلَافًا شَدِيدًا وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ وَهُوَ مَذْكُورٌ مَعَ سَائِرِ مَا رُوِيَ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ فِي الْخِلَافِيَّاتِ

"Messenger of Allah vomited [so he broke fast] so he performed Wudu." So I met Thawban in a Masjid in Damascus, and I mentioned that to him. He said: 'He told the truth, I poured the water for his Wudu." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 87)   

الحاكم:١٥٥٣ – أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْآدَمِيُّ الْمُقْرِئُ بِبَغْدَادَ وَبَكْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ بِمَرْوَ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو قِلَابَةَ الرَّقَاشِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى الْعَنَزِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ وَهُوَ الْمُعَلِّمُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ أَنَّ أَبَا عَمْرٍو الْأَوْزَاعِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ يَعِيشَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ مَعْدَانَ بْنَ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ حَدَّثَهُ

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ» فَلَقِيتُ ثَوْبَانَ فِي مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ أَنَا صَبَبْتُ لَهُ وَضُوءَهُ  

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ لِخِلَافٍ بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ فِيهِ قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَنْ يَعِيشَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مَعْدَانَ وَهَذَا وَهْمٌ عَنْ قَائِلِهِ فَقَدْ رَوَاهُ حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ وَهِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَلَى الِاسْتِقَامَةِ
