1. Purification (4/28)
[Machine] And he said, "Indeed, when the servant stands to pray, the angel comes to him and stands behind him, listening to the recitation of the Quran, and draws near until his mouth is close to his ear. He continues to listen and draw near until he places his mouth upon it, and he does not recite a verse except that it is in the heart of the angel."
1.33 [Machine] Confirmation of using miswak upon waking up from sleep
[Machine] The translation is as follows: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to clean his mouth with the Siwak (tooth-stick) when he woke up at night. The narration is by Ibn Mahdi."
[Machine] In the hadith, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to cleanse his mouth with Siwak when he stood up to pray. Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us, and Abu al-Walid al-Faqih informed me that Al-Hasan ibn Sufyan narrated to me, and Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Hushaym mentioned it.
[Machine] We used to prepare the Messenger of Allah ﷺ his Siwak (tooth stick) and water for purification. Then Allah would send him as He wished him to be sent during the night, so he would use the Siwak and perform ablution, then he would pray.
[Machine] In the hadith, it is mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ would perform wudu (ritual ablution) and use his miswak (toothstick) before standing for the night prayer. Abu Ali al-Rudhbary informed us that Abu Bakr ibn Dasa narrated to us that Abu Dawood narrated to us that Musa ibn Ismail narrated to us that Hammad narrated to us from Bahz ibn Hakim, who mentioned it.
The Prophet ﷺ did not get up after sleeping by night or by day without using the tooth-stick before performing ablution. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 57)
1.34 [Machine] Confirmation of Using Siwak During Crises
[Machine] Two men came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the same need. One of them spoke and found that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had something different in mind, so he asked him, "Do you have any dates (to give)?" He replied, "Yes, but I have not eaten from three dates." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered one of his companions to give him some dates, and he fulfilled his need. This is the wording of the hadith of Ibn 'Abdan.
1.35 [Machine] Washing the Siwak
"The Prophet of Allah ﷺ would clean his teeth with the Siwak, then he would give me the Siwak in order to wash it. So I would first use it myself, then wash it and return it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 52)
1.36 [Machine] Using a Miswak that is not yours
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned his story during his illness, in which Aisha said, "Abdul Rahman ibn Abu Bakr entered with a siwak and he used it to clean his teeth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at him and I said to him, 'Give me this siwak, O Abdul Rahman.' So he gave it to me and I chewed it and made it soft, then I gave it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he used it while leaning against my chest." And in the narration of Abu Zakariyya from Aisha, she said, "Abdul Rahman ibn Abu Bakr entered and mentioned it."
1.37 [Machine] Payment of the siwak to the eldest.
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said: "I intended to use the siwak (tooth stick), then two men came to me, one of them older than the other. I handed the smaller siwak to one of them. I was then told to give it to the older one, so I gave it to him."
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform the supplication and he gave it to the eldest person among us. Then he said, "Indeed, Gabriel commanded me to give it (the supplication) to Bukhari with this narration."
1.38 [Machine] What was discussed in the meeting?
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was like this in this narration 174, and Al-Hakim Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us that I am Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Muhammad bin Uqbah Al-Shaybani in Al-Kufa, reporting from Ja'far bin Muhammad bin Al-Hasan Al-Razi, reporting from Umar bin Ali bin Abi Bakr Al-Kindi, reporting from Ali bin Rabiah Al-Qurashi Al-Madani, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Saeed bin Al-Musayyib, from Rabiah bin Aktham, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform Istawqa (inhaling) three times and say: "It is more delightful and more beneficial." This is the narration of Ibn Aktham, and there is an addition in the narration of Bahz. He used to inhale three times and say: "It is more delightful and more beneficial." And Bahz is only known by this narration, mentioned by Ibn Mani' and Ibn Mandah. As for Rabiah bin Aktham, he was martyred in Khaybar.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, may peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When you drink, drink in sips, and when you breathe, do so resolutely." Muhammad ibn Muhammad informed us that Abu al-Hasan al-Tustari narrated to us from Abu Ali al-Lului, who narrated from Abu Dawud, who mentioned it.
[Machine] Narrated the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Reward is obtained even from the fingers of a tooth-stick." Abu Saad informed us that Abu Ahmad bin Adi said: "I heard Ibn Hammad saying: 'Al-Bukhari said: 'Abdul Hakam Al-Qasimili Al-Basri narrated from Anas and Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, who denied the narration.'" The Sheikh said: "And it has been

[Machine] Abu al-Dhahak ibn Abi Asim Al-Nabeel narrated to me that Muhammad ibn Musa narrated to us, that Isa ibn Shuayb narrated to us, that Ibn al-Muthanna narrated it from Al-Nadr ibn Anas, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Using the Siwak rewards for every finger." This narration was specifically mentioned by Uqbah ibn Mukram from Isa ibn Shuayb, and he is the only one who transmitted it through both chains of narration.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "The reward for the fingers is like the reward for the Siwak (tooth-stick). This is what I found in the book of 'Isa bin Shu'ayb and it is a preserved narration from Ibn Al-Muthanna."
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, you encouraged us to use the siwak. Is there anything else besides that?" He said, "Your two fingers are a siwak when you perform ablution. Pass them over your teeth. Verily, there is no reward for the one who has no intention and no compensation for the one who has no counting."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The finger makes up for the tooth stick."
1.39 [Machine] Intention in ritual purity ruling
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ʿDeeds are but by intentions and each man will have but that which he intended. If a man's migration was for the sake of Allah, then his migration was for that for which he migrated, but if his migration was to achieve some worldly aim or to take some woman in marriage, his migration was for that for which he migrated.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 168)
[Machine] He ﷺ said: "Verily, actions are judged by intentions."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The prayer of a person who does not perform ablution is not valid, and the ablution of a person who does not mention the name of Allah (in the beginning) is not valid. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 101)
This tradition means that if a person performs ablution and takes a bath but does not have the intention to perform ablution for prayer and purify himself from sexual defilement, his ablution or bath is not valid. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 102)

1.41 [Machine] The obligation of purification and its place in faith
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "Purification is half of faith, praise be to Allah fills the scale, glory be to Allah and praise be to Allah fills what is between the heavens and the earth, and fasting is a shield, and patience is a light, and charity is a proof, and the Quran is an argument for you or against you. All people go out early in the morning and sell themselves, freeing it or destroying it."
[Machine] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Purification is half of faith, and Allah has replaced 'All praise is due to Allah' with 'There is no god but Allah'. And He has replaced 'Fasting is a shield' with 'Prayer is light'."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah does not accept charity from ill-gotten wealth, nor does He accept prayers without purification."
[Machine] I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a house, and I heard him say, "Verily, Allah does not accept prayer without purification, nor charity from ill-gotten wealth."
[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then he went to the latrine. Then he returned and food was brought to him. So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, shouldn't you perform ablution?" He replied, "I did not pray, so I do not need to perform ablution."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out from the privy and was presented to him. They (the people) asked: Should we bring you water for ablution? He replied: I have been commanded to perform ablution when I get up for prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3760)

[Machine] The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked for water and did not find it, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Here it is." I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ place his hand in the vessel containing the water and say, "Perform ablution in the name of Allah." I saw the water overflowing from between his fingers and the people performing ablution until the last of them completed ablution. Thabit said, "I asked Anas, 'How many were they?' He replied, 'They were about seventy men. This is the most accurate in terms of estimation.'"

And whoever does not love the Ansar does not have faith." Abu Thifal Al-Murri said, "His name is Thumamah bin Wael," and it was also said, "Thumamah bin Husein." Jadat Rabah is the name of the daughter of Sa'id bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There is no prayer for one who has no ablution, and there is no ablution for one who does not mention the name of Allah upon it." Abu Saad Ahmad bin Muhammad al-Malini narrated to us that Abu Ahmad bin Adi al-Hafiz narrated to us that Ahmad bin Hafs al-Saadi said: Ahmad bin Hanbal was asked about the ruling regarding mentioning the name of Allah during ablution, while he was present, and he said, "I do not know of any established hadith about it, and the strongest thing I have about it is the hadith of Kathir bin Zaid, on the authority of Rubayih, and Rubayih is not reliable." I was informed by Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ismail al-Bukhari, that he said, "There is no hadith in this chapter that is more sound to me than the hadith of Rabah bin Abdur Rahman." Abu Isa said, "And this hadith is narrated by Hammad bin Salamah, on the authority of Sadaka, the freed slave of Ibn Zubair, on the authority of Abu Thufal, on the authority of Abu Bakr bin Huwaitib, on the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, and it is a Mursal hadith." The sheikh (Abu Isa) said: "And Abu Thufal is not very reliable." Abu Muhammad Ibrahim al-Farisi narrated to us that he is Ibrahim bin Abdullah, and I am Muhammad bin Sulaiman bin Faris, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ismail al-Bukhari, who said: Salamah al-Laythi narrated to me on the authority of Abu Hurairah, regarding mentioning the name (of Allah during ablution). It is not known to Salamah that he heard it from Abu Hurairah, nor to Yahya that he heard it from his father.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever does not mention the name of Allah upon performing ablution, their ablution is invalid. And whoever does not perform ablution, their prayer is invalid." This hadith is known only from the narration of Yahya ibn Abi Kathir from Abu Salamah from this aspect. And Ayyub ibn al-Najjar used to say, "I have only heard one hadith from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, which is the hadith about Adam and Moses meeting, which Yahya ibn Ma'in mentioned in his book.
[Machine] He was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he mentioned the narration about the prayer of a person. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the prayer of one of you is not complete until he performs ablution as Allah has commanded him: he washes his face and hands up to the elbows, wipes his head, and washes his feet up to the ankles." This narration was cited by our companions as evidence for the negation of the obligation of labeling with this narration.

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "When one of you performs ablution, let him mention the name of Allah, for indeed, it purifies his entire body. If one of you does not mention the name of Allah upon his purifying, then only the water that has passed over it will purify it. And when one of you finishes with his purifying, let him testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. Then let him send blessings upon me. When he says that, the doors of mercy will be opened for him." This is a weak hadith, and I am not aware of its authenticity.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever performs ablution and mentions the name of Allah upon his ablution, his body will be purified. And whoever performs ablution and does not mention the name of Allah upon his ablution, his limbs will be purified. And this hadith is also weak, Abu Bakr Ad-Dahiri is not reliable according to the scholars of hadith. And it was also narrated from another weak source from Abu Hurairah in a raised manner."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you wakes up from sleep at night, he should not dip his hand in the vessel until he washes it three times, for he does not know where his hand has spent the night." Abu Mu'awiya reported in this hadith that when one of you wakes up at night, and likewise, Isa bin Yunus narrated from Al-A'mash, except that he said twice or three times and he did not mention in his chain Abu Razin 204. Abu Ali Al-Rudhbari narrated to us, Abu Bakr bin Dasa narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, and Isa bin Yunus mentioned it and Muslim bin Al-Hajjaj transmitted it from Abu Kurayb from Abu Mu'awiya, similar to the narration of the Jamā'ah, when one of you wakes up from sleep, and likewise.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you wakes up from sleep, he should not put his hand in the vessel until he has washed it three times, for he does not know where his hand spent the night or where it wandered." A man said to him, "What if it is a well?" Ibn 'Umar counted its stones and said, "I inform you about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and you ask me if it is a well?" 'Ali bin 'Umar said, "Its chain is Hasan, as the Sheikh said, because Jabir bin Isma'il reported it with Ibn Lahiah in his chain."

[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution, then he spread his hands three times. Shu`bah said, "I asked Nu`man, 'What does it mean to spread one's hands?' He replied, 'It means washing the palms three times.' And Adam ibn Abi Iyas has also narrated it, but there is disagreement regarding Shu`bah's narration."

[Machine] He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he ordered him to perform ablution. He said, "Perform ablution, O Abu Jubeir." So Abu Jubeir began to perform ablution. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Do not begin with your feet, O Abu Jubeir, for verily the disbeliever begins with them." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for water to perform ablution. He washed his hands until he cleaned them, then he rinsed his mouth and nose three times, and he washed his face three times. He washed his right hand up to the elbow three times, and the left hand three times. He wiped his head and washed his feet.

[Machine] The passage translates to: "He prayed the morning prayer, then entered the courtyard. We entered with him and he asked for water for ablution. A young boy brought a container with water and a basin. He took the container with his right hand and poured the water onto his left hand, then he washed his hands. He then took the container with his right hand and poured water onto his left hand, and washed them. He washed his hands three times before placing them in the container. He mentioned the hadith and at the end of it he said, 'Whoever wants to see the ablution of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , this is how his ablution was."
