1. Purification (2/28)
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered to use the hides of dead animals, once they are tanned.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came during the Battle of Tabuk to a house and found a water skin hung up. He asked for water and they said, "O Messenger of Allah, it is dead (i.e., impure)." He replied, "Its water is pure, just like this."
1.15 [Machine] The Interior Purity of Tanning, like the Exterior Purity, and the Permissibility of Benefiting from it in All Fluids.
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Its tanning purifies it."
[Machine] Narrated Sauda, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , said: "One of our sheep died, so we tanned its skin. We continued using it until it became worn out."
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, has Fulanah, meaning the sheep, died?" He replied, "Why did you not take its fat?" She asked, "Should we take the fat of a sheep that has died?" So the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to her, "Indeed, Allah, the Most High, says: 'Say, I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine.' And indeed, you do not feed it; rather, you tan its hide and benefit from it." So I sent for her and she slaughtered the sheep, tanned its hide, and made use of it. She even made a container from its hide until it wore away and became perforated." Abu al-Hasan ibn Abdan narrated to us Ahmad narrated to us Ismail al-Qadi narrated to us Sulaiman ibn Harb and Mussaddad and al-Abbas al-Narsi that Abu Awanah informed them of this with his chain of narration."
1.16 [Machine] The Prohibition of Benefiting from the Skin of Dogs and Pigs as They are Impure and Considered Living Beings
"The Messenger of Allah wrote to us: 'Do not make use of the skins and sinew of dead animals."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4250)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the use of the skins of animals.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If a dog licks the utensil of one of you, let him pour out its contents and then wash it seven times."
[Machine] That the Prophet (PBUH) said: "The price of a dog is impure, and it is impurer than him (referring to the person). Yusuf ibn Khalid, the blacksmith, is the most reliable of them."
1.17 [Machine] The occurrence of tanning with tar or its substitute.
[Machine] "Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated that he once passed by some men from the Quraysh dragging a sheep that looked like a donkey. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, 'If you would take its (dead) hide.' They replied, 'But it is dead!' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Water and dung purify it.' This is the wording of the hadith of Ibn Wahb, except that he said it was narrated by Umm Al-'Ala 63. Abu 'Ali Al-Rudbari informed us, Abu Bakr bin Dasa narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Ahmad bin Salih narrated to us, Ibn Wahb reported to me, that 'Amr bin Al-Harith narrated to him, from Kathir bin Firqad, from Abdullah bin Malik bin Hudhafa, who narrated from his mother, Umm Al-'Ala bint Subay', that she said, 'I had some sheep at Uhud, and death struck among them. I went to Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, and mentioned that to her. She said to me, 'If you would take its hides and benefit from them.' I said, 'Is that permissible?' She said, 'Yes, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by some men (who did the same) and he mentioned what followed with the same ruling.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ passed by a dead sheep and said, "Why didn't you benefit from its hide?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, it is dead." He said, "Its meat is only prohibited due to the contamination of an (animal) that urinates or (an animal) that drinks dirty water."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Is there not in water and gravel that which purifies it? Or is it the tanning agent?"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Enjoy the hide of a dead animal if it is tanned with soil, ash, salt, or anything that improves it or removes any doubt about it." Abu Ahmad said, "This is an unacceptable narration with this chain of narration, and Ma'ruf ibn Hassan As-Samarqandi, also known as Abu Mu'adh, is considered unreliable in hadith."
1.18 [Machine] The condition of tanning in the purity of the skin of non-edible meat even if it is scalded
[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "When leather is tanned, it becomes pure."
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "The purification of every impure substance is its tanning, and all its tanners are trustworthy."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ visited a house and saw a hanging piece of meat. The Prophet ﷺ asked for a drink, and they said it was dead meat. He said that its fat has been purified, so it is like this.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The tanning of the animal skin is its purification, and in the story of the hadith, there is evidence that it is referring to the skin of what is eaten as meat. And in its methods, there is evidence that the intended meaning of tanning is its purity. In the narration of Mu'adh ibn Hisham from his father in this hadith, he called for water from a woman, and she said, 'I only have water in a container for my dead animal.' He said, 'Have you not tanned it?' She said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Then its tanning is its purification.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the use of animal skins as carpets, as we have been informed and narrated by others, from Shu'bah, from Yazid, from Abu al-Malih, as a mursal transmission without mentioning his father.
"Al-Miqdam bi8n Ma di Karib came to visit Mu awiyah and said to him: I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the messenger of Allah forbade wearing the Hides of predators and riding on them? He said: 'yes." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4255)
1.19 [Machine] Purification of the skin of an intelligent animal whose meat is consumed.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ once passed by a boy who was skinning a sheep. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Stop for a moment so that I may show you something." He then placed his hand between the skin and the meat and crushed it until it disappeared beneath his armpit. He then left and performed prayer without performing ablution. Abu Dawood added that 'Amr mentioned in his hadith that the Prophet ﷺ did not touch water. Hilal ibn Maymoon al-Ramli reported from Abu Dawood, and 'Abdul Wahid ibn Ziyad and Abu Muawiyah reported from Hilal, who reported from 'Ata that the Prophet ﷺ sent him saying something on his behalf to Abu Sa'eed.
[Machine] We used to transport water in camel skins during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and this chain of narration is not strong.
1.20 [Machine] The Prevention of Benefiting from the Hair of the Dead
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Do not ride the khazz (a type of camel) or the nimar (a type of saddle-less horse)." Muhammad said, "And whenever Mu'awiya would narrate something like this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he would not be accused."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bury the nails, hair, and blood, for they are dead." Abu Ahmad ibn 'Adiyy al-Hafith 'Abdullah ibn 'Abdulaziz narrated from his father, from Nafi' in reports that no one else followed. He said, "The Sheikh, may Allah exalt him, said, 'This is a weak chain of narration that has been narrated regarding the burying of nails and hair. The chains of its narrators are weak.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: "If a part of the animal is cut off while it is alive, then it is considered dead. This hadith can be cited regarding poetry and animal claws. However, it is specific to a certain context."
"The Prophet ﷺ came to Al-Madinah and they were in the habit of cutting the humps off of the camels and cutting the buttocks from the sheep. He said: 'Whatever is cut from an animal while it is alive, then it is dead flesh.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1480)

[Machine] That the messenger of Allah ﷺ found a dead sheep that was given as a gift to Maymuna from the charity. The messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why don't you benefit from its skin?" They replied, "Because it is dead." He said, "Only its eating is prohibited."
[Machine] "He disliked eating the meat of dead animals, but as for the teeth, hair, and bones, there is no harm in using them," said Yahya Abu Bakr al-Hudhali. The sheikh, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, "They are of no value."
[Machine] About Al-Zuhri with his Isnad, he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the meat of dead animals. As for the skin, hair, and wool, there is no harm in them." Abu Abdul Rahman Al-Sulami reported that Ali ibn Umar Al-Hafiz narrated, who was narrating from Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Ayli, who was narrating from Ahmad ibn Ibrahim Al-Busri, who was narrating from Muhammad ibn Adam, who was narrating from Al-Walid ibn Muslim, who was narrating from his brother Abdul Jabbar ibn Muslim. Then he mentioned him with his Isnad, saying, "Ali ibn Umar, may Allah exalt him, said, 'Abdul Jabbar ibn Muslim is weak.'"

[Machine] I heard Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "There is no harm in using the skin of a dead animal if it is tanned, nor is there any harm in using its wool, hair, or hooves if they are washed with water." Ali Ibn Yusuf al-Safar, the scribe of al-Awza'i, said: "It has been reported that Abdullah Ibn Qais al-Basri heard Ibn Mas'ud saying, 'The only part of a dead animal that is prohibited is its meat and blood.'" Abu Bakr Muhammad Ibn Ibrahim al-Farsi reported to us: "I am Ibrahim Ibn Abdullah. Muhammad Ibn Sulaiman Ibn Farsi reported to us: "Muhammad Ibn Ismail al-Bukhari said that Israel heard it from Humran Ibn Ayin from Abu Harb from Abdullah Ibn Qais, similar to him, and whoever said that the hair on the skin of a dead animal is pure when the skin is tanned has made a valid argument."

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw the pebbles at the Jamrah and sacrificed his animal, he handed over his hair to the barber to shave the right side. Abu Talha took it from him and then he shaved the left side and ordered him to distribute it among the people.
[Machine] His father witnessed the ritual slaughter at the Prophet ﷺ, along with a man from the Ansar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then divided the sacrificial animals among his companions, and neither his father nor his companion received any of them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ shaved his head and gave him his hair, which he divided among some men. He also clipped his nails and gave them to his companion, as they consider it in our community to be dyed with henna and katam. Musa ibn Isma'il narrated from Aban that the dye comes from them so that it does not change. And Allah knows best.

[Machine] On the authority of Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to make his last words in his family to be a person of his family. His last visit before departing would be to Fatimah, and the first person to enter upon her when he arrived was Fatimah. He came once from a battle and found a cloth or curtain hanging on her door. He asked about it and was told, "This was hung to screen her from your sight." So he tore it and broke the two silver hearts (on it) and then entered upon them, both of them were weeping. So he took them and said, "O Thawban, take this to the people of such and such lineage in Madinah, for these are my family and I dislike them to eat from their good things of this worldly life." So Thawban said, "I bought for Fatimah a necklace from beads and two ivory bracelets." Abu Ahmad bin Adi Al-Hafiz Humaid Ash-Shami said, "This Hadith has been disapproved (Munkar) from him, besides this Hadith, I do not know anything else from him." Abu Sa'id Al-Malini informed us, saying: I am Abu Ahmad bin Adi bin Abi Issma Thana, Abu Talib Ahmad bin Hamaidah informed us, saying: I asked Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal about Humaid Ash-Shami. He replied, "I do not know him." Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz and Abu Abdullah Ar-Rahman As-Sulami and Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Ushnani said: I am Abu Al-Husayn Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Abdus. Sami'atu Uthman bin Sa'id Ad-Darimi saying: I asked Yahya bin Mu'in about Humaid Ash-Shami. He replied, "I do not know them." And another disapproved (Munkar) Hadith was reported by him.

[Machine] When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would go to sleep at night, he would place his ritual purification (taharah) and his toothbrush (siwak) and comb (miswak) next to him. When Allah (SWT) would wake him up at night, he would use the toothbrush and perform ablution (wudu) and comb his hair. 'Uthman said, "This is something unknown." The sheikh replied that this narration from unknown sources is weak. Abu Sulayman al-Khattabi said Asma'iyy reported that the word "aaj" refers to the faded ivory, which is also known as the bony back of the sea turtle. As for the ivory that is known to the general public, it refers to the tusks of the elephant and it is a dead substance that is not permissible to be used.

1.23 [Machine] Prohibition of Drinking in Gold and Silver Vessels
[Machine] Um Salama, the wife of the Prophet, narrated that the Messenger of Allah said, "Whoever drinks from silver vessels, is actually swallowing the fire of Hell into his stomach."
[Machine] I heard Al-Bara'a ibn 'Azib saying: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited us from seven things: He prohibited us from wearing a gold ring or gold jewelry, and from wearing silk, and from using istabraq (a type of luxurious fabric), and from wearing decorative shoes, and from using red saddle blankets, and from wearing coarse woolen clothing, and from using silver utensils."
[Machine] Regarding drinking from silver vessels, it is reported that whoever drinks from them in this world will not drink from them in the Hereafter. Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq informed us that Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, that Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab narrated to us, that Ja'far ibn Awn narrated to us, that Abu Ishaq al-Shaybani mentioned it, and they all mentioned it from different angles concerning al-Shaybani.
[Machine] I apologize to you for this. I have already approached it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us and forbade us from drinking from golden and silver utensils and from wearing silk and Dibaj. He said, "They belong to them in this world, and they belong to you in the Hereafter."
1.24 [Machine] Restriction on Eating in Gold and Silver Vessels
[Machine] If I hadn't forbidden him more than once, Abu Nuaim would have said, as if he were saying, "I didn't do this, but I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Do not wear silk or adorn yourselves with gold and silver jewelry, and do not drink from gold and silver vessels, and do not eat in dishes made of gold and silver, for they have them in this world and you have them in the Hereafter."
[Machine] Huzaifa requested for some water, so a servant brought him a silver vessel. He took it and threw it away, saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from drinking in vessels made of gold or silver, and from eating in them, as well as wearing silk and brocade garments, and sitting on them." He said, "These are for them in this world, and for you in the Hereafter."
