1. Purification (17/28)
[Machine] A woman from the Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was with him and said, "Verily, I am a woman with very tight curly hair. How should I wash myself after sexual impurity (janabah)?" He said, "Pour three handfuls of water over your head, then press out the remnants of each handful, and then pour water over your body." Usamah bin Zaid narrated that in the narration of Ibn Wahb, it was said that Sa`id heard it from Umm Salamah, and that was because of her tight hair.
[Machine] He heard Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, say, "A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman with tightly braided hair, so what should I do when I want to perform ghusl?' He said, 'Unbraid your hair on your head three times, then pour water over it with each handful. Then, run your fingers through your hair after each handful of water. This will be sufficient for you.' The narration of Ayub ibn Musa is more authentic than the narration of Usamah ibn Zaid, and in its chain of narration is what is not in the chain of narration of Usamah ibn Zaid."
[Machine] That they should shave their heads. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah and I used to perform ablution from the same vessel, and I would pour water over my head three times.
we took a bath while having an adhesive substance over us (our head) in both states, namely, when wearing a robe for Hajj (ihram) and when wearing ordinary clothes (not meant for Hajj). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 254)
[Machine] Um Salama and the other woman used to be women who comb their hair frequently. When she would wash her body, it wouldn't invalidate her ablution. However, she would pour three handfuls of water over her head. Then, when she would see wetness on the roots of her hair, she would rub it and then pour water over the rest of her body.
[Machine] I performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage and he mentioned menstruation in relation to Umrah. So, she said, "O Messenger of Allah, today is the Day of Arafah and I have not purified myself yet. I only intended to perform Umrah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told her, "Wash your head and make yourself ritually pure, and join the Hajj with your family, abstaining from performing Umrah." She said, "So, I did as he told me, and the hadith was recorded in Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. It states that she performed ghusl (ritual purification) for menstruation during Hajj, and her ghusl was the prescribed ghusl. She was commanded to wash her head and comb her hair, and it appears that she was commanded to do so in a recommended manner, similar to how Asma bint 'Umays was commanded to perform ghusl for menstruation during 'Iddah (waiting period after divorce)."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When a woman completes her menstrual period, she should comb her hair and wash herself with the khitmiyy (a type of plant) and al-ushnaan (a type of soap). And when she takes a ritual bath after sexual impurity (janabah), she does not have to comb her hair or wash herself with khitmiyy and al-ushnaan."
1.197 [Machine] Washing the impurity of the head with Al-Khitami water
[Machine] It was narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he used to wash his head with khitanmi while in a state of junub (sexual impurity), using a small amount of water so it wouldn't pour over him. If this has been confirmed, it is permissible if water was generally available to wash his head with khitanmi. He used to wash his head as part of purifying himself from janabah (sexual impurity), and likewise.
[Machine] Abdullah said, "Whoever washed his head with khitmi while in a state of sexual impurity has performed the proper purification, and he should wash the rest of his body." Abu Awana contradicted him and narrated it from Al-A'mash, from Salim, from Thabit ibn Qutbah Al-Thaqafi, from Ibn Mas'ud. The authentic narration is the one from Shayban in this same manner.
1.198 [Machine] The purity for women during menstruation after washing
[Machine] That a woman asked the Prophet ﷺ about how she should perform her ablution after menstruation. He instructed her to take a piece of musk and purify herself with it. She asked, "How should I purify myself with it?" He said, "Purify yourself with it." She asked again, "How should I purify myself with it?" He said, "Cover yourself with it." Abu Uthman, or Sa'dan, indicated with his four fingers. Sufyan mentioned that he said, "SubhanAllah, purify yourself with it." Aisha said that she pulled her towards her and said, "Follow the trace of blood with it," in the narration of Ibn Bashran and Al-Rozbary, and no one else mentioned the story of Abu Uthman.
‘Umm Athiyah reported the Prophet ﷺ as saying “A woman must not observe mourning for more than three (days) except for four months and ten days in the case of a husband and she must not wear a dyed garment except one of the types made of dyed yarn or apply collyrium or touch perfume except for a little costus or azfar when she has been purified after her menstrual courses. The narrator Ya’qub mentioned the words “except washed clothes” instead of the words “one of the types made of dyed yarn”. Ya’qub also added “She must not apply Henna” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2302)
We were forbidden to observe mourning for the dead beyond three days except in the case of husband (where it is permissible) for four months and ten days, and (that during this period) we should neither use collyrium nor touch perfume, nor wear dyed clothes, but concession was given to a woman when one of us was purified of our courses to make use of a little incense or scent. (Using translation from Muslim 938e)
1.199 [Machine] The Obligation of Sequence in Wudu.
[Machine] "That it was narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that the good fragrance is from the land, the ablution of a Muslim, even if he performed it for ten pilgrimages. So if he finds water, let him touch his skin with water, as that is better."

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to cleanse himself from impurity, he would call for something like a container and take it with his hand. He would begin by pouring water on the right side of his head, then on the left side. Then he would take water with both of his hands and pour it over his head, saying, "With them, I am washing my head."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ablution (washing) in a container of this size and Abu Asim showed us a container the size of the container in his hand, and it was like a cup that holds eight pounds. Then he would pour water on the right side of his head and then pour water on the left side of his head, and then he would cup his hands and pour water over the middle of his head.
1.201 [Machine] The separation of washing
[Machine] A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about a person who performs ghusl (ritual bath) due to major impurity, but some parts of his body are not washed properly. The Prophet ﷺ said that he should wash that specific area, and then he can pray. Aasim ibn Abdullah al-Asha'ri narrated this. Al-Bukhari mentioned in this hadith that there is a discrepancy.
1.202 [Machine] Wiping with a cloth
[Machine] I performed the ritual washing (ghusl) of janabah for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he mentioned a hadith about the Prophet's ghusl. So, I handed him a towel, but he did not take it and instead flicked his hand. Al-A'mash said, "So, I mentioned this to Ibrahim and he said, 'He disliked that out of fear of setting a precedent.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ washed there, so she brought him a towel, and he threw it. Al-A'mash said, so I mentioned it to Ibrahim, and he said, the narration is like this, and there is no harm in wiping with a towel, as it is a customary practice.
Nafi’ said It was Ibn ‘Umar’s habit that whenever he came to Makkah he spent the night at Dhu Tuwa in the morning he would take a bath and enter Makkah in the daytime. He used to say the Prophet ﷺ had done so. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1865)
[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ used to have a piece of cloth with which he would dry himself off after performing ablution. Abu Mu'adh, who is Sulaiman ibn Arqam, narrated this. He is considered unreliable. Abu Bakr ibn al-Harith al-Faqih informed us, who narrated from Abu al-Hassan Ali ibn Umar al-Hafiz. Abu Saad al-Malini narrated from Abu Ahmad ibn Adi al-Hafiz. This hadith has been transmitted through a weak chain of narration.

[Machine] It was narrated that the Prophet ﷺ had a piece of cloth or a small towel, and when he performed ablution, he would wipe his face and hands with it. Abu al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Ma'ruf al-Faqih informed us that Abu Sahl Bashr ibn Ahmad al-Isfarayini narrated to us that Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn Abdul-Jabbār al-Sufi narrated to us that al-Qawarīri narrated to us that Abdul-Warith narrated from Abu Amr ibn al-Ala'a from Iyas ibn Ja'far, and he mentioned this, and this is what is remembered from the narration of Abdul-Warith.

"And Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us, and Abu Al-Walid informed me, and Ibrahim ibn Ali informed me, and Yahya ibn Yahya informed him, and Abu Mu'awiyah narrated from Al-A'mash, who mentioned it with a similar chain of narration, except that he added 'from the mosque,' and he did not say 'so I gave it to him.'"
[Machine] I used to perform ghusl (ritual purification) with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , from the same container, while our hands were immersed in it due to janabah (major impurity).
[Machine] Indeed, nothing makes water impure, but let him begin by washing his hand. I and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ablution from the same vessel.
[Machine] Abdullah ibn Umar used to sweat in his clothes while he was in a state of impurity, and then he would pray in them.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to perform ghusl (ritual purification) after sexual impurity, then he would come to me while I am in a state of janabah (sexual impurity) and seek intimacy with me. This situation was exclusive to Hurayth ibn Abi Matr, and it was narrated from another weak source, from Alqamah, from Aisha, in a summarized manner.

He desired to perform ablution with it, but his wife said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have already used it to cleanse myself from impurity." He responded, "Indeed, water does not become impure."
One of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ took a bath from a large bowl. The Prophet ﷺ wanted to perform ablution or take from the water left over. She said to him: O Prophet of Allah, verily I was sexually defiled. The Prophet said: Water not defiled. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 68)

1.205 [Machine] Menstruation is not in the hand and the believer does not become impure.
[Machine] Abu Hurairah said: While the Prophet ﷺ was in the mosque, he said, "O Aisha, give me the container." She said, "I am menstruating." He said, "That is not in your control." So she passed it to him.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me that I should get him the mat from the mosque. I said: I am menstruating. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do get me that, for menstruation is not in your hand. (Using translation from Muslim 298b)
[Machine] I used to perform ablution together with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from one vessel. Both of us were in a state of sexual impurity. He would put his head out of the mosque while he was observing i'tikaf, and I used to wash his head. He would order me to wrap myself with a waist wrapper, and then he would intimately be with me while I was in a state of menstruation.

0 Abu Huraira, where were you? He said: Messenger of Allah, you met when I was (sexually) defiled and I did not like to sit in your company before taking a bath. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Hallowed be Allah, verily a believer is never defiled. (Using translation from Muslim 371)
