13. Chapter of Sīn (Male) (15/36)
I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising his hands and praying on the pulpit or otherwise. But I saw him saying (doing) this way, and he would point with his forefinger making a circle by joining the middle finger with his thumb. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1105)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day came out to us while we were reciting the Qur’an. He said: Praise be to Allah. The Book of Allah is one, and among you are the red, and among you are the white and among you are the black. Recite it before there appear people who will recite it and straighten it as an arrow is straightened. They will get their reward for it in this world and will not get it in the Hereafter. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 831)
[Machine] Two men disagreed about the covenant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the mosque that was established on righteousness. One of them said it is the mosque of Madinah, and the other said it is the mosque of Quba. So they came to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "This is my mosque."
[Machine] "If I were to give you water from the well of Buza'ah, you would dislike it, and by Allah, I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drink from it with my own hand."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever has a connection in the city, let him hold onto it. And whoever does not have a connection in the city, let him establish one. For there will come a time when the one who does not have a connection will be like a stranger passing through it to another place."
[Machine] While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Suhaib ibn Bayda' was riding with him, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Suhaib ibn Bayda'a!" And he raised his voice two or three times, all of which Suhaib answered. So the people heard the voice of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . They knew that he wanted them, so whoever was in front of him sat down and whoever was behind him followed him until they gathered. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah, Allah has made Paradise obligatory for him."
[Machine] About Ibn Shihab, he said, "Regarding the naming of the one who witnessed the Battle of Badr from the Ansar and then from the Banu Najjar, it was Suhayl ibn Rafi' ibn Abi Amr. He had a mosque near the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Mirbad."
[Machine] I heard al-Hasan saying, "The nobles of Quraysh gathered at the door of 'Umar. Among them were al-Harith bin Hisham, Abu Sufyan bin Harb, Suhail bin Amr, and those slaves and servants who were companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . His permission was granted, and he gave permission to Bilal, Suhaib, and others like them, while leaving the others. Abu Sufyan said, 'I have never seen a day like this when permission is given to these slaves and we are left sitting at his door, not given permission.' Suhail bin Amr, who was a wise man, said, 'O people, by Allah, I see what is in your faces. If you are angry, then be angry with yourselves. The people were called and you were called, so hurry up and you were slow. Or, by Allah, when you rushed ahead of others in virtue, you will suffer a greater loss than if you had missed something from your own door that you competed for.'" Al-Hasan said, "Allah does not make a servant more eager to approach Him than a servant who is slower in doing so."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Whoever says, 'O Allah, indeed I bear witness that You are Allah, there is no deity except You, You alone, there is no partner for You, and I bear witness that Muhammad is Your servant and messenger,' Allah will free a third of him from the Fire. And whoever says it twice, Allah will free two-thirds of him from the Fire. And whoever says it three times, Allah will free him completely from the Fire."
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, every prophet has a successor, so who is your successor?" He remained silent about it. Then, after some time, he saw me and said, "O Salman!" I hurried towards him and said, "Here I am, at your service!" He asked, "Do you know who is the successor of Musa?" I replied, "Yes, it is Yusha bin Nun." He said, "Why?" I said, "Because he was the most knowledgeable among them." He then said, "Indeed, my successor and the one in charge of my secrets and the best one to carry on after me, and to fulfill my obligations and pay off my debts, is Ali ibn Abi Talib." Abu Al-Qasim said, "His statement 'successor' means that he appointed him as a guardian for his family, not in terms of the caliphate. And his statement 'the best one to carry on after me' means from his household." ﷺ

So his father, Sahl, came out wearing a robe and cloak and shouted at Al-Hajjaj, asking him if he does not remember the will of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding us. Al-Hajjaj replied, "And what did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ advise regarding you all?" He said, "He advised to treat the good Ansar kindly and forgive those who harm them." So he sent him.

[Machine] While we were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Suhayl was riding alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on his camel. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Suhayl ibn Bayda!" And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice. Suhayl replied, "Here I am" and he also raised his voice. He did this two or three times. Suhayl said, "The people understood that he wanted to speak to them about something he wanted them to hear. So those who were behind us joined us, and those who were in front of us stopped until they all gathered. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah, Allah will make Paradise obligatory for him and make Hellfire forbidden upon him."

[Machine] That Abu Darda went with Salman al-Farisi to propose to a woman from Banu Layth, and when he entered he mentioned the virtues of Salman and his precedence and his Islam, and he mentioned that he was proposing to their daughter, so they said, "As for Salman, we will not marry him, but we will marry you." So he married her, then he left and said, "Indeed, he was something, and I am hesitant to mention it." Abu Darda informed him of the news, and Salman said, "I am more deserving to be hesitant than you to propose to her, and Allah decreed her for you."

[Machine] That night, he stayed with Salman to observe his diligence. Salman said, "So he stood to pray at the end of the night as if he had not seen what he thought. He mentioned it to him, and Salman replied, 'May Allah have mercy on you, maintain these five prayers, for they are expiations for these wounds as long as they have not reached the level of being fatal. When people pray Isha, they divide into three groups: some have obligations and no debts, some have debts and no obligations, and some have neither debts nor obligations.' There was a man who took advantage of the darkness of the night in people's unawareness and committed sins. He indulged himself in disobedience. That is upon him, and not upon those who have debts or obligations. There was also a man who took advantage of the darkness of the night and people's unawareness, so he stood to pray. That is for him and not upon those who have neither debts nor obligations. There was a man who prayed and then slept. That is neither for him nor upon those who have neither debts nor obligations. Beware of excessive yawning, and be consistent in intent and perseverance."

[Machine] There was a dispute between Salman al-Farsi and a person. Salman said, "O Allah, if he is lying, do not let him die until one of the three witnesses him." When the anger subsided, I asked, "O Abu Abdullah, what did you invoke for regarding this?" He said, "I inform you of the tribulation of the Dajjal and the tribulation of a leader, similar to the tribulation of the Dajjal, and greed, avarice, that will come upon people when a man becomes wealthy, he will not care about what affects others."

[Machine] Salman arrived with twelve or thirteen passengers from the companions of Muhammad ﷺ . When the prayer was about to start, they said, "Go ahead, O Abu Abdullah." He replied, "We do not lead you in prayer nor do we marry your women, for Allah has guided us through you." Then, a man from the people went forward and prayed four units. After he finished, Salman said, "Why did we join in when half of it was enough for us? We are in need of leniency." Abdul Razzaq said, meaning in travel.

[Machine] Salman saw a young girl, so he said to her in Persian, "Pray." She said, "No." He said, "Prostrate once." She said, "No." It was said, "Oh Abu Abdullah, will one prostration not suffice?" He said, "If she prays, let her pray. And there is no one who has a stake in Islam like the one who has no stake."
[Machine] Salman al-Farsi used to say, "When I finish my meal, praise be to Allah who has provided us with sustenance and has bestowed upon us ample provision."
[Machine] Ibn Sireen reported that Abu Darda used to revive the night of Jumu'ah (Friday) and fast during its day. Salman came to him and the Prophet ﷺ had established a brotherly relationship between them, so Salman slept with him. Abu Darda intended to stay awake for the night, but Salman stood up to him and did not leave him until he fell asleep and broke his fast. Abu Darda then went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Salman knows better than you. Do not single out the night of Jumu'ah with prayer or its day with fasting."
[Machine] He said, "Zaid, O Abu Abdullah, why do you do this while you are the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He said, "Indeed, when the soul acquires its provision, it becomes serene and free to dedicate itself to worship, and it becomes immune from whispers."
[Machine] "Yes," they said, "are you the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He said, "I do not know, so they doubted and said, "Perhaps he is not the one we are looking for." He said to them, "I am your companion, the one you are looking for. I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and sat with him. But the one who enters Paradise with him is his true companion. So what is your need?" They said, "We have come to you from your brother in Sham." He said, "Who is he?" They said, "Abu Darda." He asked, "Where is the gift he sent with you?" They said, "He did not send us with any gift." He said, "Fear Allah and fulfill your trust. No one comes from him except that he brings a gift with him." They said, "Do not rush us, for we have wealth. We will compensate you for it." He said, "I do not want your wealth. I only want the gift that he sent with you." They said, "By Allah, he did not send us with anything except that he said, 'Indeed, among you is a man who was the Messenger of Allah's companion. When he is alone with him, no one desires anything but him. So when you come to him, convey my greetings of peace to him.' " He said, "A gift, I wanted something other than this? And what gift is better than peace? A greeting from Allah, blessed and good."
