13. Chapter of Sīn (Male)
[Machine] Sahl ibn Hunayf died in Kufa in the year thirty-eight.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If anyone asks Allah for martyrdom sincerely, Allah will make him reach the ranks of martyrs even if he died on his bed. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1520)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not be harsh on yourselves, for those before you were destroyed by their harshness towards themselves, and you will find remnants of them in monastic cells and homes."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The first thing to be shed from the martyr's blood is the forgiveness of all his sins except debt."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever humiliates a believer when he has the ability to support him, Allah will humiliate him in front of the witnesses on the Day of Resurrection."
[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Umrah and was on the way, he said, "If we look at every fat camel and sacrifice it and eat it, it will show our strength." Then Umar ibn Al-Khattab said, "O Messenger of Allah, rather call for provisions from the people and then pray over them, for surely Allah will bless them." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did that and said, "When you arrive, shave off the first three-quarters of your hair, so that your strength may be visible to the people."
[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed 'Umrah and was on the way, he said, "If we look at every fat camel, we will sacrifice it and eat it until they see our strength." 'Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah, rather, ask for the supplies of the people, and then invoke Allah's blessing in it." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did as 'Umar suggested. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you arrive, camp three days, until they see your strength."
[Machine] "My father, O my son, I saw us on the day of Badr, and indeed one of us was pointing with his sword towards the head of the polytheist, and his head would fall off his body before he could reach him."
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "The slave of a man is his brother and his nephew."
"My father said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever goes out to his Masjid - the Masjid of Quba' and prays therein, that will be equivalent to 'Umrah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 699)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever goes to the Mosque of Quba and prays in it, it will be considered as an 'Umrah."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever performs ablution properly and then enters Masjid Quba and prays four units of prayer in it, then that is equivalent to freeing a slave."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever performs ablution (wudu) excellently, then prays two units of prayer in the Quba Mosque, it will be equivalent to performing Umrah."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever says 'peace be upon you' will have ten good deeds written for him, and whoever says 'peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah' will have twenty good deeds written for him, and whoever says 'peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings' will have thirty good deeds written for him."
[Machine] Ali came to Fatimah on the day of Uhud and said, "Hold my sword, for I have fought well with it today." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you have fought well with it, then Asim ibn Thabit, Sahl ibn Hunayf, and Harith ibn As-Simah have fought better with it."
[Machine] "They brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a man who committed adultery and they struck him with tufts of palm leaves or the stalks of palms."
[Machine] "That the Prophet (PBUH) forbade two types of dates, Al-Jua'roor and Al-Hubayq." He said, "And the people used to purify the worst of their fruits and give them as charity, so the verse was revealed: 'And do not give the impure among it (dates) to be given in charity.'"
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ لَوْنَيْنِ مِنَ التَّمْرِ الْجُعْرُورِ وَلَوْنِ الْحُبَيْقِ» قَالَ وَكَانَ النَّاسُ يَتَيَمَّمُونَ شِرَارَ ثِمَارِهِمْ فَيُخْرِجُونَهَا فِي صَدَقَاتِهِمْ فَنَزَلَتْ {وَلَا تَيَمَّمُوا الْخَبِيثَ مِنْهُ تُنْفِقُونَ}
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded charity, so a man came with handfuls of coins from this bag and placed them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and said, "Who brought this?" No one came except the person who brought it, so the verse was revealed: "O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned and from that which We have taken out for you from the earth. And do not aim toward the defective therefrom, spending [from that] while you would not take it [yourself] except with closed eyes. And know that Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy." And on that day, he forbade taking anything from the branches of a certain tree and said, "It is of two types of dates from the Medina." And Abbad said that Sufyan said, "It is the Zizyphus Lotus tree."
[Machine] A man became sick until his skin became wrinkled. A maid, who used to serve him, entered upon him and he was attracted to her. He became anxious and confided in his people, saying, "Ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for me, for I have committed an unlawful act with a woman. Let him establish the punishment on me and purify me." So they conveyed this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said, "If this matter was to be brought to you, his bones would disintegrate and if he was to be flogged, he would die." He said, "Bring me a hundred branches made from Shamar wood and strike him once."
concerning the Verse in which Allah, the Mighty and Subline, says: And do not aim at that which is bad to spend from it." [2] This refers to had quality dates. The Messenger of Allah forbade taking bad quality dates as Sadaqah. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2492)
The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you should say Khabuthat Nafsi, but he is recommended to say 'Laqisat Nafsi." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6179)
None of you must say Khabuthat nafsi (My heart is heaving), but one should say Laqisat nafsi (My heart is being annoyed). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4978)
None of you must say Khabuthat nafsi (My heart is heaving), but one should say Laqisat nafsi (My heart is being annoyed). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4978)
[Machine] He went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until they reached Al-Kharrar. He entered water to perform ablution, and there was a man who had a fair complexion. 'Amir ibn Rabiah passed by him and said, "I have never seen anything as beautiful as this today, nor have I seen hidden skin." It did not take long for Sahl to urinate, so the Prophet of Allah ﷺ called upon him and said, "Why would any one of you kill his brother? Who have you accused?" They said, "Amir ibn Rabiah." He called Amir and brought a container filled with water. Then, the Prophet ﷺ ordered Amir to wash his face in the water, along with the ends of his hands, knees, and the ends of his feet. The Prophet ﷺ then took the two sides of Amir's loincloth and immersed it in the water, and poured the water onto Sahl's head. He wiped the container from behind, and Sahl was released, without any harm to him.
[Machine] By Allah, I have never seen her concealed in her garment as she was today. He said: when she washed, she was flat on the ground until she raised her head. It was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: "Are you accusing anyone?" They said: "No, Messenger of Allah, except that 'Amir bin Rabiah said such and such." So he called him and called 'Amir bin Rabiah and said: "Glory be to Allah! How none of you kills his brother? When one of you sees something in him that he likes, let him pray for blessing for him." He said: Then he commanded him, so he washed his face and exposed his cheeks, elbows and wiped his chest, the inside of his waist-wrapper, his knees and the exposed parts of his feet in the water-skin. Then he commanded him, so he poured water on his head and poured it out from behind him. I estimated that he (the Prophet) used a mud (water container) six times, then he commanded him, so he wiped him with two wiping, then he commanded him and he arose and went on with the delegation.
[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik that Bakr bin Sahl al-Dimyati narrated from Abdullah bin Yusuf who narrated from Malik who narrated from Ibn Shihab who narrated from Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf that he said: "I saw Amir bin Rabiah Sahl bin Hunayf performing ablution. I swear by Allah, I have never seen anything like it before or since. So Sahl bin Hunayf grabbed him and said: 'Do you accuse anyone?' They said: 'We accuse Amir bin Rabiah.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ summoned Amir bin Rabiah and became angry with him and said: 'Why would one of you kill his brother? Have you not supplicated for blessings for him? Perform ablution for him.' So Amir washed his face, hands, elbows, knees, the edges of his feet, and the inside of his garment in a pot, then poured it onto him. Sahl recovered and did not suffer any harm."

[Machine] Amir ibn Rabee'ah, the brother of Bani Adi ibn Ka'b, saw Sahl ibn Hunayf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Al-Kharrar while he was performing ritual ablution. Amir said, "By Allah, I have never seen anything like what I have seen today, not even hidden scars on his body." Sahl overheard this and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed about it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Do you accuse him of anything?" They replied, "Yes, Amir ibn Rabee'ah passed by him while he was performing ablution and made that statement." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Amir ibn Rabee'ah and expressed his anger towards him, saying, "Why would one of you kill his brother? Shouldn't you have blessed him? Perform ablution for him." So, Amir ibn Rabee'ah performed ablution for Sahl, and Sahl continued his journey with the caravan unharmed.

[Machine] And by Allah, I have never seen a day like today, nor a concealed skin being uncovered. So Sahl was informed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had arrived. It was said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, do you have any rights over Sahil ibn Hunayf?" He replied, "Do you accuse him of something?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, 'Amir ibn Rabee'ah saw him bathing and said, 'By Allah, I have never seen a day like today, nor a concealed skin being uncovered.'" So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called 'Amir ibn Rabee'ah and became angry with him, saying, "Why should any one of you kill his brother? If you come across this situation, then conduct a purification for him." 'Amir washed Sahil's body and then they proceeded with the caravan. Ibn Shihab said, "The bathing that our scholars told us about is that a person who is unable to pour water over his body is given a jug that is filled with water, and he holds it elevated from the ground. The one who is helping him dips his right hand into the water and pours it over his face in one pour from the jug. Then he puts his left hand into the water and washes his right hand in one pour from the jug. Then he puts his right hand into the water and washes his left hand in one pour from the jug up to the elbows. Then he puts both of his hands into the water and pours it over his chest in one pour from the jug. Then he puts his left hand into the water and pours it over the back of his right hand in one pour from the jug. Then he puts his right hand into the water and pours it over the left elbow in one pour from the jug, which is still in his hands, all the way up to his neck. Then he does the same with his left elbow. After that, he dips the inside of his right cloth into the water and then the person holding the jug pours it over his right knee in one pour from the jug. Then the person holding the jug pours it over his left knee in one pour from the jug. Finally, he tilts the jug over the ground."

[Machine] I have not seen any hidden camel skin, so I struck it till the pain prevented me from offering my prayers. So I informed the Prophet ﷺ about it and he ordered him to be washed. The Prophet ﷺ went with him till he entered the place of washing and his uncle Mughira bin Shu'ba followed him. The man was washed while he was unconscious and then he regained his consciousness. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever wants to see a man from the people of the Fire, then he may look at this (man)." Then the Prophet ﷺ praised Allah and said, "Allah saved him (the dead man) from the fire and made him a lesson for the people."

And the Messenger of Allah came and it was said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you have anything to do with Sahal ibn Hunaif?" And the Messenger of Allah said, "Is anyone accusing him?" They said, "Yes, 'Amir ibn Rabia passed by him while he was taking a ritual bath and he said, 'By Allah, I have never seen before today a smoother or more hidden skin.'" So the Messenger of Allah called 'Amir and became angry with him and said to him, "Why does one of you kill his brother and not cleanse himself for him?" So 'Amir was washed and Sahal continued with the group.

Al-Aamir ibn Rabeea looked at him and said, "I have never seen today, nor have I seen the skin of a virgin, as beautiful as yours." So Sahl became distracted and his condition worsened. They informed the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , that Sahl was in a state of distress and had an unpleasant odor. So the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , went to him and Sahl informed him about Al-Aamir's comment. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Why would one of you kill his brother? Would you not have blessed him by performing ablution for him?" So Al-Aamir performed ablution for him, and Sahl accompanied the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , without any harm.
