[Machine] Al-Harith al-Ghatafani came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Muhammad, share with us the dates of Madinah." He said, "Until I receive permission from the sponsors." So, he sent Sa'd bin Mu'adh, Sa'd bin 'Ubada, Sa'd bin Ar-Rabi'e, Sa'd bin Khaythamah, and Sa'd bin Mas'ood, may Allah have mercy on them, and said, "I have learned that the Arabs have expelled you with a single arrow, and Al-Harith is asking you to share the dates of Madinah with him. If you want to defend yourselves against him, you may use this year's yield until you consider your options." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, is this a revelation from the sky? Shall we follow the command of Allah, your opinion, or your desires? Our opinion is influenced by your desires and opinions. If you only want to keep us and adhere to your opinion, then by Allah, we and they are equal. We do not let them have any dates from us except by negotiation or request." The Messenger ﷺ said, "You hear what they are saying?" They said, "O Muhammad, you deceived us." Then Hassan bin Thabit, may Allah have mercy on him, said...  

جَاءَ الْحَارِثُ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ شَاطِرْنَا تَمْرَ الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ «حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ السُّعُودَ» فَبَعَثَ إِلَى سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ خَيْثَمَةَ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَحِمَهُمُ اللهُ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ الْعَرَبَ قَدْ رَمَتْكُمْ عَنْ قَوْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَإِنَّ الْحَارِثَ يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَنْ تُشَاطِرُوهُ تَمْرَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَإِنْ أَرَدْتُمْ أَنْ تَدْفَعُوا إِلَيْهِ عَامَكُمْ هَذَا حَتَّى تَنْظُرُوا فِي أَمْرِكُمْ بَعْدُ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَوَحْيٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَالتَّسْلِيمُ لِأَمْرِ اللهِ أَوْ عَنْ رَأْيِكَ أَوْ هَوَاكَ فَرَأْيُنَا تَبَعٌ لِهَوَاكَ ورَأْيِكَ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ إِنَّمَا تُرِيدُ الْإِبْقَاءَ عَلَيْنَا فَوَاللهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا وَإِيَّاهُمْ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ مَا يَنَالُونَ مِنَّا تَمْرَةً إِلَّا بِشِرًى أَوْ قِرًى فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هُوَ ذَا تَسْمَعُونَ مَا يَقُولُونَ» قَالُوا غَدَرْتَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقَالَ حَسَّانُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ  

[Machine] About Ibn Shihab: "Regarding those who witnessed the battle of Al-Aqaba, among the Ansar and then from the tribe of Banu Amr ibn Awf, Saad ibn Khaythama, who was a chief."  

عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ «فِيمَنْ شَهِدَ الْعَقَبَةَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ثُمَّ مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ سَعْدُ بْنُ خَيْثَمَةَ وَهُوَ نَقِيبٌ»  

[Machine] "About Ibn Shihab, regarding the identity of those who witnessed the Battle of Badr from the Ansar, then from the Banu Amr ibn Salamah ibn Malik ibn Aws, it was Sa'd ibn Khaythamah."  

عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ «فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ثُمَّ مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّلَمِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْأَوْسِ سَعْدُ بْنُ خَيْثَمَةَ»  

[Machine] About Urwah Ibn Al-Zubayr, he said, "Regarding the identification of the person who witnessed the Battle of Badr among the Ansar, then among the Banu Amr Ibn Awf, it was Saad Ibn Khaythama."  

عَنْ عُرْوَةَ «فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ثُمَّ مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ سَعْدُ بْنُ خَيْثَمَةَ»  

[Machine] About Saad bin Khaythama, who was martyred on the day of Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Mohammad Ibn Ishaq said:  

عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ «فِيمَنِ اسْتُشْهِدَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ سَعْدُ بْنُ خَيْثَمَةَ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed in Quba' at Kalthum ibn Hareem's, the brother of Bani Amr ibn Awf, and it is also said that he stayed at Sa'd ibn Khaythamah's. He stayed in Bani Amr ibn Awf on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, where he established their mosque. He then left Bani Amr ibn Awf, and he reached Bani Salim ibn Awf on Friday and prayed Jumu'ah in the mosque that was inside the valley. Ibn Ishaq said, "Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed at Abu Ayyub's and ordered the construction of his mosque in that year."  

نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِقُبَاءَ عَلَى كُلْثُومِ بْنِ هَرِمٍ أَخِي بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَيُقَالُ بَلْ نَزَلَ عَلَى سَعْدِ بْنِ خَيْثَمَةَ فَأَقَامَ فِي بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالثُّلَاثَاءِ وَالْأَرْبِعَاءِ وَالْخَمِيسِ وَأَسَّسَ مَسْجِدَهُمْ وَخَرَجَ مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ فَأَدْرَكَتْهُ الْجُمُعَةُ فِي بَنِي سَالِمِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ فَصَلَّى الْجُمُعَةَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الَّذِي بِبَطْنِ الْوَادِي قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ «ثُمَّ نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ وَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِبِنَاءِ مَسْجِدِهِ فِي تِلْكَ السَّنَةِ»  

[Machine] About Urwa, "In the naming of those who witnessed the Battle of Badr among the Ansar from the Bani Ghanm bin Salam bin Malik bin Aws bin Jariyah, Saad bin Khaythama"  

عَنْ عُرْوَةَ «فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ مِنْ بَنِي غَنْمِ بْنِ السَّلَمِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْأَوْسِ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ سَعْدُ بْنُ خَيْثَمَةَ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I saw as if mercy had descended between the tribes of Salim and Bayada." They (the companions) said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, shall we go to its location?" He said, "No, but bury your dead in it." So they buried their dead there.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «رَأَيْتُ كَأَنَّ رَحْمَةً وَقَعَتْ بَيْنَ بَنِي سَالِمٍ وَبَيْنَ بَنِي بَيَاضَةَ» فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَفَنَنْتَقِلُ إِلَى مَوْضِعِهَا؟ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنِ اقْبُرُوا فِيهَا» فَقَبَرُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاهُمْ  

[Machine] About Muhammad ibn Ishaq, "The name of the one who witnessed the Battle of Badr from the Ansar, then from the Aws, is Sa'd ibn Khaythamah ibn al-Harith ibn Malik ibn Ka'b ibn al-Nahhat ibn Ka'b ibn Harithah ibn Ghanm ibn Aslam ibn Imru al-Qays ibn Malik ibn Aws."  

عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ «فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ثُمَّ مِنَ الْأَوْسِ سَعْدُ بْنُ خَيْثَمَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ النَّحَّاطِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ غَنْمِ بْنِ السَّلَمِ بْنِ امْرِئِ الْقَيْسِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْأَوْسِ»  

[Machine] "We went out during the Hajj in which we pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and Sa'd ibn Khaythamah was the leader of the Banu Amr ibn Awf."  

«خَرَجْنَا فِي الْحِجَّةِ الَّتِي بَايَعْنَا فِيهَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ نَقِيبَ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ سَعْدُ بْنُ خَيْثَمَةَ»
