The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us while we were digging the ditch and were carrying the earth on our shoulders. (Seeing our condition), he said: O God, there is no life but the life of the Hereafter. So forgive Thou the Muhajirs and the Ansar. (Using translation from Muslim 1804)

الطبراني:٥٨٧٥حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ

tabarani:5876Aḥmad b. Rishdīn > Ibrāhīm b. Ḥammād b. Abū Ḥāzim al-Madanī > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Abū Ḥāzim from his father > Sahl b. Saʿd

tabarani:5877Yaḥyá b. Ayyūb al-ʿAllāf al-Miṣrī > Saʿīd b. Abū Maryam And Yaḥyá b. Bukayr > Yaḥyá > Ibn Abū Ḥāzim > Saʿīd > Ibn Abū Ḥāzim from his father > Sahl

I would certainly give this standard to a person at whose hand Allah would grant victory and who loves Allah and His Messenger and Allah and His Messenger love him also. The people spent the night thinking as to whom it would be given. When it was morning the people hastened to Messenger of Allah ﷺ all of them hoping that that would be given to him. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Where is 'Ali b. Abu Talib? They said: Messenger of Allah, his eyes are sore. He then sent for him and he was brought and Messenger of Allah ﷺ applied saliva to his eyes and invoked blessings and he was all right, as if he had no ailment at all, and conferred upon him the standard. 'Ali said: Messenger of Allah, I will fight them until they are like us. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Advance cautiously until you reach their open places, thereafter invite them to Islam and inform them what is obligatory for them from the rights of Allah, for, by Allah, if Allah guides aright even one person through you that is better for you than to possess the most valuable of the camels. (Using translation from Muslim 2406)

[Machine] This is Fulan, a prince from the city, inviting you tomorrow to meet at the pulpit. He said, "What should I say?" He said, "You should say, 'Abu Turab.'" Sahel laughed and then said, "By Allah, no one called him by this name except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and by Allah, there was no name dearer to him than this." Abdul Aziz said, "My father, O Abu Abbas, how did that happen?" He said, "Ali entered upon Fatima, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , then he came out and lay down in the mosque. Then the Prophet ﷺ entered upon Fatima and said, 'Where is your cousin?' She said, 'He is over there in the mosque.' So the Prophet ﷺ went out and found his cloak had fallen from his back and dust had settled on it. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiped the dust off his back and said, 'Sit, O Abu Turab, sit, O Abu Turab.' By Allah, there was no name dearer to him than the name that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to a woman named Fulanah, saying, "Tell your servant, the carpenter, to make sticks for me to address the people." He made these three steps from the wood of the forest, and the Prophet ﷺ ordered them to be placed in this position. Sahl said, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ sit on them on the first day. He then performed the takbir, and the people behind him also performed the takbir. Then he bowed while on the pulpit, and he descended to the lowest part of the pulpit and prostrated. He then returned until he finished his prayer, performing in it as he did in the first rak'ah. When the Prophet ﷺ finished, he turned to the people and said, 'O people, I did this so that you may follow my lead and learn my prayer.'"

[Machine] A man passed by the Prophet ﷺ and looked at him, then said, "What do you think about this?" So I said, "This is a man from the noblest of people. It is permissible for him to get married if he proposes, and it is permissible for him to intercede if he wants to, and if he says something, it should be listened to." Then another man passed by and said, "What do you think about this?" So I said, "This is a man from the poor Muslims. It is permissible for him to not be listened to, and if he proposes, he should not get married, and if he intercedes, he should not be interceded for." Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "This man is better than the whole earth filled with people like the first man."

Then it would be said to him, 'It is for you and the like of it with you.'"

* “What type of woven sheet?” He said: “A Shamlah.” She said: “O Messenger of Allah, I have woven this with my own hands for you to wear.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it, since he needed it. He came out to us wearing it as a lower wrap. So-and-so the son of so-and-so.” – a man whose name he told that day – said: “O Messenger of Allah, how beautiful this sheet is! Let me wear it.” He said: “Yes.” When he went inside he folded it up and sent it to him. The people said to him: “By Allah, you have not done well. The Prophet ﷺ wore it because he needed it, then you asked for it, and you knew that he would not refuse anyone who asked him for something.” He said: “By Allah, I did not ask for it so that I could wear it, rather I asked for it so that it could be my shroud.” Sahl said: “And it became his shroud the day he died.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3555)

Abu Bakr would never glance sideways in his prayer but when the people clapped so much he looked back and ﷺMessenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gestured to him to carry on praying. Aha Bakr raised his hands praising Allah the Mighty and Sublime, and retreated till he reached the (first) row. Then the Messenger ofAllah ﷺ went forward and led the people in the prayer. When he completed the prayer he turned to face the people and said: '0 people, why did you start clapping when something unusual happened to you in the prayer? Clapping is only for women. So whoever among you comes across something in the prayer should say: 'Subhan Allah' for there is none who will not turn round when they hear him saying Subhan Allah. 0 Abu Bakr! What prevented you from leading the people in the prayer when I gestured to you to do so?' Abu Bakr replied: 'It is not fitting for the son of Abu Quhafah to lead the prayer in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 784)

[Machine] The people have not encountered any harm in terms of the number that they counted from the time of the Prophet's ﷺ mission, nor from his death. They have only encountered harm from the beginning of the city.
