That he was asked about the wound of the Prophet ﷺ on the day (of the battle) of Uhud. He said, "The face of the Prophet ﷺ as wounded and one of his front teeth as broken and the helmet over his head was smashed. Fatima washed of the blood while ʿAli held water. When she saw that bleeding was increasing continuously, she burnt a mat (of date-palm leaves) till it turned into ashes which she put over the wound and thus the bleeding ceased."  

عَنْ جُرْحِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَقَالَ جُرِحَ وَجْهُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ وَهُشِمَتِ الْبَيْضَةُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ فَكَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ عَلَيْهَا السَّلاَمُ تَغْسِلُ الدَّمَ وَعَلِيٌّ يُمْسِكُ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ أَنَّ الدَّمَ لاَ يَزِيدُ إِلاَّ كَثْرَةً أَخَذَتْ حَصِيرًا فَأَحْرَقَتْهُ حَتَّى صَارَ رَمَادًا ثُمَّ أَلْزَقَتْهُ فَاسْتَمْسَكَ الدَّمُ  

That he heard Sahl bin Saʿd being asked about the wounds of Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "By Allah, I know who washed the wounds of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and who poured water (for washing them), and with what he was treated." Sahl added, "Fatima, the daughter of Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wash the wounds, and ʿAli bin Abi Talib used to pour water from a shield. When Fatima saw that the water aggravated the bleeding, she took a piece of a mat, burnt it, and inserted its ashes into the wound so that the blood was congealed (and bleeding stopped). His canine tooth got broken on that day, and face was wounded, and his helmet was broken on his head."  

عَنْ جُرْحِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَمَا وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأَعْرِفُ مَنْ كَانَ يَغْسِلُ جُرْحَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَمَنْ كَانَ يَسْكُبُ الْمَاءَ وَبِمَا دُووِيَ قَالَ كَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ عَلَيْهَا السَّلاَمُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَغْسِلُهُ وَعَلِيٌّ يَسْكُبُ الْمَاءَ بِالْمِجَنِّ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ فَاطِمَةُ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ لاَ يَزِيدُ الدَّمَ إِلاَّ كَثْرَةً أَخَذَتْ قِطْعَةً مِنْ حَصِيرٍ فَأَحْرَقَتْهَا وَأَلْصَقَتْهَا فَاسْتَمْسَكَ الدَّمُ وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَجُرِحَ وَجْهُهُ وَكُسِرَتِ الْبَيْضَةُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ  

When the helmet broke on the head of the Prophet ﷺ and his face became covered with blood and his incisor tooth broke (i.e. during the battle of Uhud), ʿAli used to bring water in his shield while Fatima was washing the blood off his face. When Fatima saw that the bleeding increased because of the water, she took a mat (of palm leaves), burnt it, and stuck it (the burnt ashes) on the wound of Allah's Apostle, whereupon the bleeding stopped.  

لَمَّا كُسِرَتْ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْبَيْضَةُ وَأُدْمِيَ وَجْهُهُ وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ وَكَانَ عَلِيٌّ يَخْتَلِفُ بِالْمَاءِ فِي الْمِجَنِّ وَجَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ تَغْسِلُ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ الدَّمَ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ فَاطِمَةُ عَلَيْهَا السَّلاَمُ الدَّمَ يَزِيدُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ كَثْرَةً عَمَدَتْ إِلَى حَصِيرٍ فَأَحْرَقَتْهَا وَأَلْصَقَتْهَا عَلَى جُرْحِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَرَقَأَ الدَّمُ  

The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was injured, his front teeth were damaged and his helmet was crushed. Fatima, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was washing the blood (from his head), and 'Ali b. Abu Talib was pouring water on it from a shield. When Fatima saw that the bleeding had increased on account of (pouring) water (on the wound), she took a piece of mat and burnt it until it was reduced to ashes. She put the ashes on the wound and the bleeding stopped.

Fatimah was washing the blood from him and ‘Ali was pouring water on him from a shield. When Fatimah realized that the water was only making the bleeding worse, she took a piece of a mat and burnt it, and when it had turned to ashes, she applied it to the wound to stop the bleeding.

عَنْ جُرْحِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «جُرِحَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ وَهُشِمَتِ الْبَيْضَةُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ﷺ فَكَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ تَغْسِلُ الدَّمَ وَعَلِيٌّ ؓ يَسْكُبُ الْمَاءَ عَلَيْهَا بِالْمِجَنِّ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ فَاطِمَةُ ؓ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يَزِيدُ الدَّمَ إِلَّا كَثْرَةً أَخَذَتْ قِطْعَةً مِنْ حَصِيرٍ فَأَحْرَقَتْهُ حَتَّى إِذَا صَارَ رَمَادًا أَلْصَقَتْهُ بِالْجُرْحِ فَاسْتَمْسَكَ الدَّمُ»  

[Machine] "The egg was smashed on the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Battle of Uhud, and his helmet was broken and his face was injured. So Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, washed the blood from him, and Ali ibn Abi Talib would bring her water. When the water touched the wound, his blood increased, so she took a piece of straw and burned it until it turned into ashes, then she applied it to the wound and the bleeding stopped."  

«هُشِّمَتِ الْبَيْضَةُ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَومَ أُحُدٍ وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَّتُهُ وَجُرِحَ وَجْهُهُ فَكَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تَغْسِلُ عَنْهُ الدَّمَ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ يَأْتِيهَا بِالْمَاءِ فَلَمَّا أَصَابَ الْجُرْحَ الْمَاءُ كَثُرَ دَمُهُ فَلَمْ يَرْقَأِ الدَّمُ حَتَّى أَخَذَتْ قِطْعَةً مِنْ حَصِيرٍ فَأَحْرَقَتْهُ حَتَّى عَادَ رَمَادًا ثُمَّ جَعَلَتْ عَلَى الْجُرْحِ فَرَقَأَ الدَّمُ»

[Machine] The egg shattered on the head of the Messenger of Allah, and his ring was broken, and his face was wounded. Abu Hazim said, "Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, used to wash the blood from him, and Ali ibn Abi Talib would bring her water in a basin. When the water touched the wound, his blood increased, so she took a piece of straw and burned it until it became ashes, then she placed it on the wound, and the bleeding stopped."  

هُشِّمَتِ الْبَيْضَةُ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللهِ وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ وَجُرِحَ وَجْهُهُ قَالَ أَبُو حَازِمٍ وَكَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تَغْسِلُ عَنْهُ الدَّمَ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ يَأْتِيهَا بِالْمَاءِ فِي مِجَنَّةٍ فَلَمَّا أَصَابَ الْجُرْحَ الْمَاءُ كَثُرَ دَمُهُ فَلَمْ يَرْقَأِ الدَّمُ حَتَّى أَخَذَتْ قِطْعَةَ حَصِيرٍ وَأَحْرَقَتْهُ حَتَّى صَارَ رَمَادًا ثُمَّ جَعَلَتْهُ عَلَى الْجُرْحِ فَرَقَأَ الدَّمُ
