[Machine] Al-Harith al-Ghatafani came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Muhammad, share with us the dates of Madinah." He said, "Until I receive permission from the sponsors." So, he sent Sa'd bin Mu'adh, Sa'd bin 'Ubada, Sa'd bin Ar-Rabi'e, Sa'd bin Khaythamah, and Sa'd bin Mas'ood, may Allah have mercy on them, and said, "I have learned that the Arabs have expelled you with a single arrow, and Al-Harith is asking you to share the dates of Madinah with him. If you want to defend yourselves against him, you may use this year's yield until you consider your options." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, is this a revelation from the sky? Shall we follow the command of Allah, your opinion, or your desires? Our opinion is influenced by your desires and opinions. If you only want to keep us and adhere to your opinion, then by Allah, we and they are equal. We do not let them have any dates from us except by negotiation or request." The Messenger ﷺ said, "You hear what they are saying?" They said, "O Muhammad, you deceived us." Then Hassan bin Thabit, may Allah have mercy on him, said...  

الطبراني:٥٤٠٩ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ وَزَكَرِيَّا السَّاجِيُّ قَالَا ثنا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الذَّرَّاعُ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

جَاءَ الْحَارِثُ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ شَاطِرْنَا تَمْرَ الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ «حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ السُّعُودَ» فَبَعَثَ إِلَى سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ خَيْثَمَةَ وَسَعْدِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَحِمَهُمُ اللهُ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ الْعَرَبَ قَدْ رَمَتْكُمْ عَنْ قَوْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَإِنَّ الْحَارِثَ يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَنْ تُشَاطِرُوهُ تَمْرَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَإِنْ أَرَدْتُمْ أَنْ تَدْفَعُوا إِلَيْهِ عَامَكُمْ هَذَا حَتَّى تَنْظُرُوا فِي أَمْرِكُمْ بَعْدُ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَوَحْيٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَالتَّسْلِيمُ لِأَمْرِ اللهِ أَوْ عَنْ رَأْيِكَ أَوْ هَوَاكَ فَرَأْيُنَا تَبَعٌ لِهَوَاكَ ورَأْيِكَ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ إِنَّمَا تُرِيدُ الْإِبْقَاءَ عَلَيْنَا فَوَاللهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا وَإِيَّاهُمْ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ مَا يَنَالُونَ مِنَّا تَمْرَةً إِلَّا بِشِرًى أَوْ قِرًى فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هُوَ ذَا تَسْمَعُونَ مَا يَقُولُونَ» قَالُوا غَدَرْتَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقَالَ حَسَّانُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ

"عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: جَاءَ الْحَارِثُ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ الله ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ شَاطِرْنِى بِتَمْرِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَإِلَّا امْلأ بِهَا عَلَيْكَ خَيْلًا وَرِجَالا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ حَتَّى أسْتَأذِنَ السُّعُودَ، فَدَعَا سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ، وَسَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ، وَسَعْدَ بْنَ زُرَارَةَ فَقَالَ: هَا قَدْ تعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ الْعَرَبَ قَدْ رامتكم عَنْ قَوْسٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَهَذَا الْحَارِثُ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ يَسْأَلُكُمْ أنْ تُشَاطِرُوهُ بِتَمْرِ الْمَدِينَةِ، فَادْفَعُوهَا إِلَيْهِ إِلَى يَوْمٍ ما، قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ الله: إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ مِنَ الله ﷻ فَالتَّسْلِيمُ لأَمْرِ الله -تَعَالَى- وَإِنْ كَانَ هَذَا أَمْرًا مِنْ أمْرِكَ، أَوْ هَوَىً مِنْ هَوَاكَ، فَأَمْرُنَا لأمْرِكَ تَبَعٌ، وَهَوَانَا لِهَواكَ تَبَعٌ، وَإِلَّا وَالله لَقَدْ كُنَّا وَإيَّاهُمْ في الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ، مَا كَانُوا يَنَالُونَ تَمْرَةً وَلَا بُسْرَةً إِلَّا شِرَاءً أوْ قِرَى، فَكَيْفَ وَقَدْ أَعَزَّنَا الله -تَعَالَى- بِكَ وبِالإِسْلَامِ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ هَا يَا حَارِثُ قَدْ تَسْمَعُ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ غَدَرْتَ، فَأَنَشأَ حَسَّانُ يَقُولُ:

يَا حَارِ مَنْ يَغْدِرْ بِذمَّةِ جَارِهِ ... مِنْكُمْ فَإِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا لَا يَغْدِرُ

وَأَمَانَةُ الْمَرْءِ حَيْثُ لَقِيتَها ... كَسْرُ الزُّجَاجَةِ صَدْعُهَا لَا يُجْبَرُ

إِنْ تَغْدِروُا فالغَدْر مِنْ عَادَاتِكُمْ ... وَاللُّؤْمُ يَنْبُتُ في أُصُولِ السَّخْبَرِ

فَقَالُوا: يَا مُحَمَّدُ اكْفُفْ عَنَّا لِسَانَهُ، فَوَالله لَوْ مُزِجَ بِمَاءِ الْبَحْرِ لَمَزَجَهُ، قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاق: "وَالسَّخْبَرُ حَشِيشٌ يَنْبُتُ حَوْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ".
