13. Chapter of Sīn (Male) (24/36)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best of a man's wealth is a dowry that is easily paid or a servant that is easily employed."
[Machine] "I came to the Prophet, ﷺ , and he ordered me to give them an instruction. He said, 'When you return to your home, tell them to beautify their actions and order them to trim their nails. And they should not harm the udders of their livestock when milking them.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ heard two men conversing, one of them was becoming angrier and angrier. The Prophet ﷺ said, "I know a word, if he were to say it, the Satan would depart from him." The man approached the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Tell me, seek refuge in Allah from Satan."
[Machine] We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, we hear from you the hadith, but we cannot convey it as we heard it from you due to forgetfulness. So he ﷺ said, 'If you do not make the prohibited things lawful and do not make the lawful things prohibited, and you understand the meaning, then there is no harm.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ came across a dead tree trunk and said, "What harm would it do to the people of this if they benefited from its fragrance?"
[Machine] We participated with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the battle of Al-Muraysi'ah, and our slogan was "O victorious one, support us, support us."
[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out on the migration, he was accompanied by Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq and 'Amir ibn Fuhayrah, the servant of Abu Bakr, and Ibn Uriqit, who showed them the way. They passed by Umm Ma'bad Al-Khuzaiyyah, who did not recognize them. He asked her, "O Umm Ma'bad, do you have any milk?" She replied, "No, by Allah, the sheep are without any offspring." He asked, "Then, what is this sheep that I see in the corner of the house?" She said, "It is a sheep that has been left behind after much effort for the sake of the sheep." He asked, "May I milk it?" She replied, "By Allah, it was never mated with any male sheep, so what business do you have with it?" He then stroked its back and udder, and called for a container which he filled with milk. He gave it to his companions to drink from, after they had quenched their thirst. Then he milked it again and filled the container once more before leaving it behind and continuing on his journey. When her husband returned in the evening, he asked his wife, "O Umm Ma'bad, what is this milk and the absence of the sheep in the house? The sheep are without any offspring?" She replied, "No, by Allah, except that a man with a handsome appearance, with a beautiful face, in a state of cleanliness and purity, with radiant eyes and a melodious voice, like that of a branch between two branches, neither too long nor too short, approached us. You could not hit him with a stick nor push him away with a blow. He spoke with eloquence, his speech flowing like the rhythm of poetry. Amongst his companions, he was the most beautiful and perfect. His face was radiant, attracting attention, without being artificial or affected. His companions surround him, eager to fulfill his orders. When he commands, they hasten to fulfill his command, and when he forbids, they abstain from it. I say, this is the description of the leader of Quraysh. If I had seen him, I would follow him, even if it meant exerting myself greatly. They did not know which way the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had taken until they heard a caller calling out in the direction of Abi Qubays."

Suwaid bin Ghafalah said: ”The Zakah collector of the Prophet came to us, and I took him by the hand and read in his order: 'Do not gather separate herds and do not separate herd for fear of Sadaqah'. A man brought him a huge, fat she-camel, but he refused to accept it. So he brought him another of lower quality and he accepted it. He said: 'What land would shelter me, if I came to the Messenger of Allah having taken the nest of a Muslim man's camels?' ” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1801)

[Machine] Man: O Amir al-Mu'minin (Commander of the Faithful), do you know this man?
Amir al-Mu'minin: No, so who is he?
Man: This is Sawad ibn Qarib, a man from the people of Yemen. He has honor and status among them. He is the one to whom his vision came with the appearance of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . 'Umar replied, "May Allah grant him salvation; should I invite him?" He said, "Are you Sawad ibn Qarib?" He said, "Yes." 'Umar then said, "So you are the one to whom your vision came with the appearance of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He said, "Yes." 'Umar then said, "And you still practice divination?" This made him extremely angry, and he said, "O Amir al-Mu'minin, no one has questioned me about this since I embraced Islam." 'Umar said, "Glory be to Allah, we were indeed in a worse state of polytheism than your divination. Tell me about your vision with the appearance of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." He said, "Yes, O Amir al-Mu'minin. One night, between sleeping and wakefulness, my vision came to me. He struck me with his leg and said, 'Get up, O Sawad ibn Qarib, understand and comprehend if you possess comprehension. Verily, a messenger has been sent from Lu'ay ibn Ghalib, calling to Allah and His worship.'" Then, he continued to speak.

[Machine] He informed them that they had accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the farewell Hajj until they reached Usfan, hurrying for Hajj. A man from the tribe of Mudlij called Suraqah bin Malik bin Ju'shum approached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, judge for us a ruling of a people as if they were born today." He said, "Indeed, Allah ﷻ has made Hady (sacrificial animal) permissible for you in this Hajj of yours. So whoever circumambulates the Ka'bah and goes to Safa and Marwah, then he has been permitted to do so except for the one who has a Hady with him." When we concluded the Hajj, he said, "Enjoy yourselves with these women." Enjoyment for us means marriage. We presented this to the women, and their response was that they agreed to that only if a period is stipulated between us and them. This was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "Do it." So I went out with my cousin, and I had a blanket with me and he had a blanket with him. His blanket was better than mine and he was older than me. We came to a woman and she liked his blanket and was impressed with my appearance. Then, her condition became that she said, "Give me your blanket." The duration between me and her was ten nights, so I stayed with her for that period. Then I left to the mosque, and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing between the wall and the door, saying, "O people, I had given you permission to enjoy yourselves with these women. Be aware that Allah ﷻ has prohibited that until the Day of Resurrection. So whoever has anything from them, let him break free from his way, and do not take anything that you have given them."

[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Medina on the Farewell Pilgrimage until we reached 'Usfan. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, 'Umrah has entered into the Hajj until the Day of Resurrection." So Suraqah bin Malik said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach us a teaching for a people as if they were born today. Is this 'Umrah of ours for this year only or for all time?" He said, "No, rather for all time." So when we arrived in Mecca, we made Tawaf around the Ka'bah and between Safa and Marwa. Then he ordered us to engage in the pleasure of women, so we returned to him and said, "Indeed, they have unveiled except for a specified term." He said, "So do it." So I and my companion, both wearing cloaks, entered upon a woman and presented ourselves to her. She looked at my companion's cloak and found it better than mine, and she looked at me and found me more handsome than him. She said, "A cloak belongs in its place." And she chose me, so I married her with my cloak. I stayed with her that night, and when morning came, I went to the mosque. And behold, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on the pulpit delivering a sermon, and I heard him saying, "Whoever marries a woman for a specified term, let him give her what he named her and not take back anything from what he gave her. And let him separate from her, for indeed Allah has made it forbidden for you until the Day of Resurrection."

Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted temporary marriage for us. So I and another person went out and saw a woman of Bana 'Amir, who was like a young long-necked she-camel. We presented ourselves to her (for contracting temporary marriage), whereupon she said: What dower would you give me? I said: My cloak. And my companion also said: My cloak. And the cloak of-my companion was superior to my cloak, but I was younger than he. So when she looked at the cloak of my companion she liked it, and when she cast a glance at me I looked more attractive to her. She then said: Well, you and your cloak are sufficient for me. I remained with her for three nights, and then Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who has any such woman with whom he had contracted temporary marriage, he should let her off. And I am beautiful, more beautiful than my cousin and my cousin is more beautiful than me. So we went out until when we were at the highest or lowest point of Makkah, we met a girl from Banu Amir ibn Sa'sa'ah, resembling a virgin. So we said, "Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has commanded us or allowed us to enjoy women. Do you have any need of any one of us?" She said, "Has he really done so?" We said, "Yes." She said, "Yes." So we took off our cloaks and she began to look at the cloaks and then she looked at me and my cousin. When my cousin saw her looking at me with affection, he said, "My cloak is new, long, and has not been touched, while his cloak is worn-out and has been touched." And the girl said, "There is no harm in this cloak." She repeated that statement once or twice, and then she chose me. And we did not leave Makkah until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited it.
