53. Actions to Perform Day and Night (3/21)
[Machine] I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was praying the Duha prayer, and I heard him saying, "O Allah, forgive me and accept my repentance, for You are the accepter of repentance and the forgiver." I counted that he said it one hundred times. Khalid bin Abdullah reported it from Husain, from Hilal, from Zadhan, from Aisha.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, may peace and blessings be upon him, performed the Duha prayer and then said, "O Allah, forgive me and accept my repentance. Indeed, You are the Oft-Returning, the Most Forgiving." He repeated this statement a hundred times. Abu 'Abdul-Rahman narrated this Hadith from Shu'bah, Abdul-Aziz ibn Muslim, and Abbad ibn Al-Awwam. They are closer to us in correctness compared to the Hadith of Khalid. With the help of Allah, Al-Husayn ibn 'Abdul-Rahman had some confusion at the end of his life.
53.45 [Machine] What is recommended to say after the obligatory prayers?
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, which supplication is heard?" He said, "In the depth of the last part of the night and at the end of the prescribed prayers."
53.46 [Machine] Encouraging saying: "O Lord, help me in remembering You, thanking You, and worshipping You." After prayers.
By Allah, I love you, Mu'adh. I give some instruction to you. Never leave to recite this supplication after every (prescribed) prayer: "O Allah, help me in remembering You, in giving You thanks, and worshipping You well." Mu'adh willed this supplication to the narrator al-Sunabihi and al-Sunabihi to 'Abu Abd al-Rahman. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1522)
53.47 [Machine] Whoever seeks refuge with Allah from the Fire three times, and asks for Paradise three times.
“Whoever asks for Paradise, three times, Paradise will say: “O Allah, admit him to Paradise.” And whoever asked to be saved from Hell, three times, Hell will say: “O Allah, save him from Hell.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4340)
53.48 [Machine] The reward of one who seeks refuge from the fire seven times after the Fajr prayer before speaking.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "When you pray Fajr, say before Allah speaks: 'O Allah, protect me from the fire seven times. For if you were to die on that day, Allah would write for you a protection from the fire.' And when you pray Maghrib, say before Allah speaks: 'O Allah, protect me from the fire seven times. For if you were to die on that night, Allah would write for you a protection from the fire.'"
53.49 [Machine] The reward of whoever says after the morning prayer: "There is no god but Allah, alone without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is capable of all things.
the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever says, following the morning prayer: La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sahrikalau, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, bi yadihil khair, wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadir (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, with no partner or associate. His is the dominion, all praise is to Him, in His Hand is all goodness, and He is Able to do all things), it will be as if he freed slave from among the sons of Isma'il." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3799)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever says, 'There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion, and His is the praise. He is over all things competent,' ten times, it is as if they have freed four offspring of Isma'il." And Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid stood up.
[Machine] "There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs the dominion, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is able to do all things. It was as fair as four necks. I asked him, 'Who told you?' He said, 'Amr ibn Maymun.' So, I met Amr ibn Maymun and asked him, 'Who told you?' He said, 'Abdul Rahman ibn Abi Layla.' So, I met Abdul Rahman ibn Abi Layla and asked him, 'Who told you?' He said, 'Abu Ayub, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He was contradicted by Hilal ibn Yasaaf, who narrated it from Rabee'ah ibn Khuthaym, who narrated it from Ibn Mas'ood.'"
[Machine] "There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is able to do all things. He had the right to four slaves from the descendants of Ismail."
[Machine] "There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner, to Him belongs the kingdom, and to Him belongs the praise, and He is capable of everything ten times. Be just to Him, it is equal to freeing four slaves. Shu'bah narrated it from 'Abdul Malik bin Maisarah from Hilal bin Yasaf from Rabee' bin Khuthaym and 'Amr bin Maymun from Abdullah."
[Machine] "Because I say, 'There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is able to do all things,' ten times, it is dearer to me than to free four slaves." Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said, "There is disagreement regarding the authenticity of this hadith between Mansur ibn Al-Mu'tamir and others."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever recites {Say, He is Allah, [who is] One} [Quran 112], it is as if he has recited one-third of the Quran. And whoever says, "There is no deity except Allah, alone, without partner. For him is the dominion and to Him belongs praise, and He is over all things competent" ten times, it is as if he has performed the obligation of justice for every breeze." This was narrated by Sufyan from Mansur from Hilal bin Yasaf from Abu Darda, without mentioning this wording.
[Machine] There is no god but Allah alone, without any partner. To Him belongs the kingdom and to Him belongs all praise, and He is capable of all things. One hundred times a day he will come on the Day of Resurrection, above every worker except those who exceed [this number]. Abu Ishaq As-Sabi'i disagreed with them, narrated from Amr ibn Maymun from Ar-Rabi' ibn Kuthaym from Abdul Rahman ibn Abi Layla from Abu Ayyub, who said.
[Machine] There is no deity but Allah alone, He has no partner, to Him belongs the sovereignty and to Him belongs all praise, and He is capable of all things. Saying this ten times is greater in reward or better than freeing four people among the descendants of Isma'il. It was narrated by Ahmad bin Sulayman from 'Ubaidullah bin Musa from Israil bin Yunus from Abu Ishaq from 'Amr bin Mu'awiyah from Rabi'ah bin Khathym from Ibn Abi Laila from Abu Ayyub who said: "Whoever says 'La ilaha illallah' and mentions the Hadith [53], Abu Balj contradicted them and it was narrated by 'Amr bin Mu'awiyah from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar with a different wording."
[Machine] There is no god but Allah alone, without any partners, to Him belongs all sovereignty, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is capable of all things. His sins are forgiven, even if they are as numerous as the foam of the sea. Muhammad ibn Ja'far differed with him in the wording of the hadith.
53.50 [Machine] The mention of the narration of Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib in it.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever says 'There is no deity except Allah, alone without partner. To Him belongs the dominion, and to Him is all praise, and He is capable of all things' ten times, they will be rewarded as if they had performed a just action equivalent to freeing ten slaves."
53.51 [Machine] The mention of disagreement regarding Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman bin Abi Hussein in the hadith of Shahrbn Hawshab, from Abdul Rahman bin Ghunm, from Muadh within it.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever says, when he finishes the Fajr prayer, 'La ilaha illa Allah, wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir' ten times before speaking, he will have ten good deeds written for him, ten bad deeds will be erased from him and he will be raised by ten degrees. It will be a protection for him against Satan and a safeguard against disliked things throughout his day. No sin will be recorded against him on that day except for associating partners with Allah. And whoever says the same after praying 'Asr will have a similar reward during his night." Abu 'Abdur-Rahman Husein ibn 'Asim and Shahru bin Hawshab both said: "Ibn 'Aun was asked about the Hadith of Shahru, and he said: 'Indeed, Shahru is trustworthy but Shu'bah had a negative opinion of him and Yahya al-Qattan left him.' Zaid ibn Abi Unaisah narrated this Hadith from Abu Hussein, from Shahru, from 'Abdur-Rahman ibn Ghunm, from Abu Dharr."

[Machine] The poor came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "The wealthy have taken all the higher ranks and everlasting blessings of wealth, they pray as we pray, and fast as we fast, but they have excess wealth with which they perform Hajj, 'Umrah, strive, and give in charity." He said, "Shall I not inform you of an affair by which you will catch up with those who surpassed you and surpassed those who come after you, and no one will be better than you except for the one who does the same as you do? You glorify and praise Allah and magnify Him after every prayer 33 times." [64] 'Abdullah bin Ruwaḥ contradicted this, narrating it from Abu Salih, from Abu Ad-Darda. Jarir also narrated it from him.
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy people have gone in this world and the Hereafter. They pray as we pray, remember Allah as we remember, and strive as we strive. But we cannot find anything to give in charity." He said, "Shall I not tell you something? If you do it, you will catch up to those who came before you and surpass those who come after you, except for those who do as you have done. Say 'Subhan Allah' thirty-three times, 'Alhamdulillah' thirty-three times, and 'Allahu Akbar' thirty-four times after every prayer." Shurayk ibn Abdullah went against him and narrated it from Abdul Aziz ibn Rufay' who narrated it from Abu Umamah who narrated it from Abu Darda.

[Machine] A person said, "Indeed, I cannot find anything better than what I am presenting to you. I asked the Prophet ﷺ about it, and I asked the Prophet ﷺ , saying, 'O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy Muslims do good deeds such as fasting as we do, they pray as we do, and they give in charity. But we do not have wealth to give in charity. Can you guide us to something that if we did it, no one who came before us or after us would surpass us except for those who do the same thing as we do?' He said, 'O Abu Darda, shall I not guide you to something if you do it, no one before you or after you would surpass you except for those who do the same thing as you do? After every prayer, you should say Tasbih (glorification of Allah) thirty-three times, Tahmid (praising Allah) thirty-three times, and Takbeer (declaring the greatness of Allah) thirty-four times.' Sufyan bin Sa'id narrated this from Abdul Aziz bin Rufai' from Abu Umama As-Saini from Abu Darda."

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy companions have gone with worldly and Hereafter gains. They pray, fast, and strive just like we do, and they give charity while we do not give charity?" He said, "Shall I not guide you to something that if you hold onto, you will surpass those who came before you and those who come after you, except for those who do the same as you did? You should glorify Allah thirty-three times, praise Him thirty-three times, and declare His greatness thirty-four times after every prayer." Shu'bah followed this narration from Al-Hakam, from Abu 'Umar al-Sinee, from Abu ad-Darda.

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the rich are going for Hajj and we are not going, they are striving and we are not striving, and so on." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I not show you something by which if you do it, you will come with something better than what any of them comes with? That is by saying Allahu Akbar 34 times, Subhan Allah 33 times, and Alhamdulillah 33 times after every prayer." [66] 9903 Ahmad narrated from Ahmad ibn Suleiman from Yahya ibn Adam from Malik ibn Mighwal from Al-Hakam. Zaid ibn Abi Unaisah narrated from Al-Hakam, who narrated from Umar ibn Sa'id, who narrated from Abu Darda.

[Machine] I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and some of them said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the wealthy surpass us in all goodness. They pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, and they exceed us in giving charity, and we do not find what we can give in charity. They spend in the way of Allah, and we do not find what we can spend." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I not inform you of something that if you do it, they will not surpass you and those who come after you will not catch up with you? After every prayer, say thirty-three times: Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah), say thirty-three times: Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), and say thirty-four times: Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest)."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Can one of you not earn a thousand good deeds every day?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, who can do that?" He said, "If he glorifies Allah one hundred times, he will be written for him a thousand good deeds and a thousand sins will be erased from him." (narrated by 'Amr ibn 'Ali, narrated by Yahya ibn Sa'id, narrated by Musa Al-Juhani, who was contradicted by Al-Mubarak ibn Sa'id ibn Masruq in the wording of the hadith).
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "What prevents one of you from glorifying Allah ten times, praising Him ten times, and magnifying Him ten times after every prayer? This amount is equal to fifty times for each prayer, five hundred times on the tongue, and one thousand five hundred times in the scales. And when he goes to his bed, he glorifies Allah thirty-three times, praises Him thirty-three times, and magnifies Him thirty-four times. This amount is one hundred times on the tongue and one thousand times in the scales. So which one of you will have the ability to do two thousand five hundred negative acts in one day and night?" Ya'la bin 'Ubayd contradicted him and attributed it to Musa al-Juhani from Musa from Abu Zur'a from Abu Huraira.
[Machine] After every prayer, there are ten glorifications, ten repetitions of "Allahu Akbar," and ten praises. In five daily prayers, that is fifty and one hundred in the scales. When he goes to sleep, there are one hundred in the tongue and one thousand in the scales. So which one of you performs two thousand and five hundred bad deeds in a day? Abu Abdul Rahman Musa the Second said, "I do not know him."
