39. Marriage
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I have found a woman of rank and beauty, but she does not give birth to children. Should I marry her? He said: No. He came again to him, but he prohibited him. He came to him third time, and he (the Prophet) said: Marry women who are loving and very prolific, for I shall outnumber the peoples by you. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2050)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us to perform ablution and prohibit us from excessive spitting. He would strongly forbid it and say, "Marry the loving and fertile women, for I will be boasting in numbers on the Day of Resurrection with the prophets among you."
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "It was said to the Messenger of Allah: 'Which woman is best?' He said: 'The one who makes him happy when he looks at her, obeys him when he commands her, and she does not go against his wishes with regard to herself nor her wealth.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3231)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best of your women are the affectionate, the fertile, the dutiful, and those who console and comfort their husbands. And the worst of your women are the ones who display themselves, those who pretend and imagine things, and they are the hypocrites. None of them will enter Paradise except like the crawling of a black beetle." And it was narrated with an authentic chain of narration from Sulaiman bin Yasar, from the Prophet ﷺ , as a saying attributed to him until his statement, "when they fear Allah."
[Machine] What a servant gains after believing in Allah is no better than a woman with good character, friendly, and kind. And what a servant gains after disbelief in Allah is no worse than a seductive woman with a sharp tongue and bad character. By Allah, among them (women) are those who are like sheep, from whom one can benefit, and among them are those who are like crops that can be redeemed.
[Machine] Umar said, "By Allah, no man has benefited after Islam better than a beautiful and good-natured woman, loving and loved. And by Allah, no man has brought harm after associating partners with Allah worse than an ill-natured woman with a sharp tongue. By Allah, among them, there is a boy who is worth sacrificing for and a sheep that leads to destruction."
