[Machine] Zaid ibn Haritha, the slave of the Messenger of Allah, we used to call him Zaid ibn Muhammad until the verse was revealed: "Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah" (Quran Al-Ahzab 5).
[Machine] This verse {And you conceal within yourself what Allah is to disclose} [Al-Ahzab 37] was revealed regarding the matter of Zainab bint Jahsh. Zaid came and complained about his intention to divorce her to the Prophet ﷺ and sought his advice in this matter. The Prophet ﷺ responded to him by saying {Keep your wife and fear Allah} [Al-Ahzab 37] {And you conceal within yourself what Allah is to disclose} [Al-Ahzab 37]. Zaid then divorced her, and the Prophet ﷺ then married her to himself in order to prevent any complications for the believers in the matter of their adopted children's wives when they have fulfilled their purpose.
نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {وَتُخْفِي فِي نَفْسِكَ مَا اللهُ مُبْدِيهِ} [الأحزاب 37] فِي شَأْنِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ وَكَانَ جَاءَ زَيْدٌ يَشْكُو وَهَمَّ بِطَلَاقِهَا جَاءَ يَسْتَأْمِرُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ {أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ زَوْجَكَ وَاتَّقِ اللهَ} [الأحزاب 37] {وَتُخْفِي فِي نَفْسِكَ مَا اللهُ مُبْدِيهِ} [الأحزاب 37] الْآيَةَ قَالَ {فَلَمَّا قَضَى زَيْدٌ مِنْهَا وَطَرًا زَوَّجْنَاكَهَا لِكَيْلَا يَكُونَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَرَجٌ فِي أَزْوَاجِ أَدْعِيَائِهِمْ إِذَا قَضَوْا مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرًا}
[Machine] Allah ﷺ gave a speech to Aisha to Abu Bakr, and Abu Bakr said, "Am I not your brother?" And Aisha replied, "Indeed, you are my brother in the religion of Allah and His book, and she is permissible for me."
