53. Actions to Perform Day and Night (5/21)
[Machine] "He had taken off his robe and entered the water, so I looked at him with admiration for his appearance, and I cursed him with my eyes. Then he got a convulsion, so I called him but he did not respond. So I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him of the news. He said, 'Go with us.' So I went with him, and he lifted his leg as if I was looking at the whiteness of his calf while he was immersed in water. So he came to him and said, 'O Allah, remove its heat and coolness.' Then he said, 'Get up.' So he got up, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If any of you sees something from himself, his wealth, or his brother that he likes, he should ask for blessings.'"

53.86 [Machine] What to say when someone sneezes
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿIf one of you sneezes, let him say, Praise be to Allah in all situations, and let those who are around him say: May Allah have mercy on you, and let him reply, May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 973)
[Machine] The Prophet, ﷺ , said, "When a person sneezes, he should say 'Alhamdulillah' (Praise be to Allah) for every condition. The one who hears him sneeze should say, 'Yarhamuk Allah' (May Allah have mercy on you).' The one who sneezed should then say, 'Yahdikum Allah' (May Allah guide you) and 'Yuslih balakum' (May Allah rectify your affairs)." Abu Abdullah Rahman Mohammed ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Layla said, "He is not strong in narration, and he has poor memory, and he is one of the scholars."

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah loves sneezing but dislikes yawning; so if anyone of you sneezes and then praises Allah, every Muslim who hears him (praising Allah) has to say Tashmit to him. But as regards yawning, it is from Satan, so if one of you yawns, he should try his best to stop it, for when anyone of you yawns, Satan laughs at him." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6226)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah created Adam and breathed into him the spirit, he sneezed and praised his Lord by the permission of Allah. So his Lord said to him, 'May your Lord have mercy on you, O Adam! Go to that group of angels and greet them by saying: peace be upon you.' So he said, 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.' Then he returned to his Lord and said, 'This is your greeting and the greeting of your descendants.' Muhammad ibn Ajlan disagreed with him in this matter."
[Machine] "Allah created Adam on the last hour of Friday, then He breathed into him from His soul. When the soul reached his head, Adam sneezed, so Allah said to him, 'Say, alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah).' Adam said, 'Alhamdulillah.' Then Allah said, 'May your Lord have mercy on you.' Then Allah said to him, 'Go to the people of this gathering of angels and greet them.' So Adam did so and said, 'This is your greeting and the greeting of your offspring.' Abu Abdullah al-Rahman said, 'This is the correct version, and the other is incorrect. The one after that is a narration from Muhammad ibn Khalaf, and it is rejected.'"
[Machine] Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah created Adam with His own Hand, and then He breathed into him (his) soul. He said to him, 'Go and greet that group of angels, and listen to what they will say in reply to you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your offspring.' Adam said (to the angels), As-Salamu Alaikum (peace be upon you). The angels said, 'As-salamu Alaika wa Rahmatu-l-lahi (peace and Allah's mercy be upon you).'" So they increased 'Wa Rahmatu-l-lahi' (and Allah's mercy be upon you). So whoever will enter Paradise, will be of the shape and picture of Adam. Since then the creation of Adam's (offspring) (i.e. stature of human beings is being diminished continuously) to the present time. (Sahih al-Bukhari 3326)
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The rights of a Muslim on the Muslims are five: to respond to the salaam, visiting the sick, to follow the funeral processions, to accept an invitation, and to reply to those who sneeze. (see Hadith 1239) (Using translation from Bukhārī 1240)
Two men sneezed in the presence of the prophet (May peace be upon him). He said : Allah have mercy on you! To one and not to the other. He was asked: Messenger of Allah! Two persons sneezed. Ahmad’s version has: You invoked a blessing on one of them and left the other. He replied : This man praised Allah, and this man did not praise Allah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5039)
53.87 [Machine] How often does he mock?
[Machine] We were with the Prophet ﷺ when a man sneezed, so the Prophet smelled it and then sneezed a second time and said, "Indeed, he is sneezing due to having the disease of mazkoon (a specific type of sneezing)."
53.88 [Machine] What does the sneezer say when sniffed?
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "When any one of you sneezes, let him say, 'Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah), Lord of all the worlds.' And it is said to him, 'May Allah have mercy on you.' When he hears that, let him say, 'Yaghfirullah (may Allah forgive you).' " Abu 'Abdur-Rahman said: "And this is a rejected hadith, and I do not consider Ja'far ibn Sulaiman to have heard it except from 'Ata ibn al-Sa'ib after they had mixed (with the innovators). 'Ata ibn al-Sa'ib entered Basra twice, and whoever heard it from him the first time, his hadith is authentic, and whoever heard it from him the second time, there is something in his hadith. And the hadith of Hammad ibn Zaid from him is authentic."
53.89 [Machine] What the sneezer says when they are sniffed, and mentioned the disagreement about Mansur bin Al-Mu'tamir in the hadith of Salim bin 'Ubayd in that regard
[Machine] Perhaps you have found from what I have told you that I only said to you as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, when we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and a man from the people sneezed, he said, "Peace be upon you," so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Upon you and upon your mother." Then he said, "When one of you sneezes, let him praise Allah." So he mentioned some praises and let him say, "May Allah have mercy on you," and let them respond to him, "May Allah forgive us and you." 9983 Ahmed bin Sulaiman reported to us, saying: Ubaidullah informed us from Israel from Mansur from Hilal bin Yasaf from Salim bin Ubaid similar to it.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you sneezes, let him say 'Alhamdulillah,' and let him say 'Yarhamuk Allah' to the one who says 'Alhamdulillah.'" [96] Salim reported that we were traveling with Salim Ibn Ubaid and were with the Prophet ﷺ when a man sneezed. Abu Abdur-Rahman said, "This is the correct narration according to us, and the first one is an error. And Allah knows best." [9987] Khaled Ibn Orfutah reported that they were traveling with Salim Ibn Ubaid and were with the Prophet ﷺ when a man sneezed, and he mentioned it similarly. [9988]

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If one of you sneezes, let him say, Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds, and let those who are around him say: May Allah have mercy on you, and let him say, May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 972)

53.91 [Machine] What does he say to the People of the Book when they sneeze?
The Jews used to try to sneezes in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ hoping that he would say to them: "Allah have mercy on you!" but he would say: May Allah guide you and grant you well-being! (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5038)
53.92 [Machine] What does he say when he hears something about the man?
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , stood up and addressed the people, saying: "O Muslims, what is the matter with some people who impose conditions that are not in the Book of Allah? Whoever imposes a condition that is not in the Book of Allah, even if he imposes it a hundred times, it is not more authentic or binding than the conditions set by Allah Himself."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted permission for something, but some men disliked it. He then said, "What is the matter with these men whom I command to do something, but they dislike it? Indeed, I know Allah better than them and I have greater fear of Him."
53.93 [Machine] Avoiding Confrontation with What One Dislikes
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , rarely opposed someone in their dislikes. One day, a man entered upon him with a mark of poverty, while the Prophet, ﷺ , was eating a gourd and he liked gourd. When the man left, he said, "If only you had ordered to wash it."
[Machine] Once, a man entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with his companions, and he had a yellow stain on his garment. When he got up, the Prophet ﷺ said to one of his companions, "If you command him to remove this." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never confronted anyone directly about anything.
53.94 [Machine] How's the criticism?
[Machine] A man passed by the messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "How wretched Abdullah is, and the brother of the tribe." Then he entered upon him, and I saw him approaching him with his face as if he had a high rank with him.
[Machine] A man sought permission to visit the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , and when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ heard his voice, he said, "What an evil man! What an evil son of Al-'Ushayrah!" But when the man entered, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ showed kindness and greeted him warmly.
53.95 [Machine] How is praise?
Messenger of Allah, no person is more excellent than he after Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Thereupon Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: Woe be to thee, you have broken the neck of your friend, and he said this twice. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If anyone has to praise his brother at all, he should say: I think him to be so and so, and even on this he should say: I do not consider anyone purer than Allah (considers). (Using translation from Muslim 3000b)

If one of you marries a woman or buys a slave, he should say: "O Allah, I ask You for the good in her, and in the disposition You have given her; I take refuge in You from the evil in her, and in the disposition You have given her." When he buys a camel, he should take hold of the top of its hump and say the same kind of thing. Abu Dawud said: Abu Sa'id added the following words in his version: He should then tale hold of her forelock and pray for blessing in the case of a woman or a slave. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2160)

Ali said, "I mentioned that Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , was mentioned, and he (the Prophet) said, 'Welcome and greetings to her.' He did not say anything more than that." Then Ali went out to a group of Ansar who were waiting for him and they asked him, "What is behind you?" He replied, "I do not know, except that he said to me, 'Welcome and greetings to her.'" They said to him, "It is sufficient for you that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has given you a family and a spacious home." After that, when he got married, he said to Ali, "O Ali, a wedding must have a feast." Sa'd said, "I have a sheep and I have gathered a group of Ansar, enough food for a small feast." When the night of the wedding came, the Prophet ﷺ said to Ali, "O Ali, do not say anything until you meet me."
