[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ fainted while in my lap, so I started wiping his face and praying for his healing. He woke up and said, "Instead, I ask Allah for the company of the most high and the happiest companions: Gabriel, Michael, and Israfil, peace be upon them."

I heard 'Umar bin al-Khattab say to Talhah bin‘Ubaidullah: Why do I see you looking unkempt and dusty since the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died? Perhaps you were upset about your cousin becoming caliph? He said: Allah forbid! I am the most unlikely among you to feel like that, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ʿI know a word which, if a man says it when dying his soul will find rest and provision when it comes out from his body and it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection.” I did not ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it and he did not tell me it. This is what has been upsetting me. 'Umar said: I know what it is. He said: To Allah be praise! What is it? He said: It is the word that he said to his uncle: La ilaha illallah. Talhah said: You are right. (Using translation from Aḥmad 187)

his mother Su'da Al-Murriyyah said: "Umar bin Khattab passed by Talhah, after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had died, and said: 'Why do you look so sad? Are you upset because your cousin has been appointed leader?' He ('Umar) said: ' I know what it is. It is what he wanted his uncle (Abu Talib) to say, and if he had known anything that would be more effective in saving him, he would have told him to say it.'" [Machine] He said that Itban ibn Malik lost his eyesight during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he sent a message to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , saying: "I am unable to pray with you in your mosque, but I would love for you to pray with me in my mosque. So complete your prayer and come to him." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then went to him, and they mentioned Malik ibn Dukhshum, saying: "That is the cave of the hypocrites, or the people of hypocrisy, and their shelter to which they seek refuge." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Does he testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and messenger?" They said: "Yes." He said: "There is no goodness in his testimony if it is not testified to truthfully from the heart. If a servant (of Allah) testifies to this and dies, then he will be forbidden from the Fire."

nasai-kubra:10877ʿUbayd b. Ādam b. Abū Iyās from my father > Shaybān > Qatādah > Anas

[Machine] The companions of the Prophet mentioned Malik ibn al-Dukhshum in front of the Messenger of Allah and they talked bad about him. So the Messenger of Allah said, "Leave my companions alone." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, he is the refuge and hiding place of the hypocrites, to whom they go." So the Messenger of Allah said, "Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" They said, "Yes, but there is no good in his testimony." So the Messenger of Allah said, "No servant testifies sincerely from his heart and then dies on that except that Allah will make Paradise forbidden for him."

[Machine] He became blind, so he sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "Come and draw a mosque for me." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, and his people came, and a man from among them was absent, his name was Malik bin Al-Dukhshum. They said: "O Messenger of Allah, verily he falls into it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Does he not bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" They said: "He only says it as a form of seeking refuge." He said: "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, no one will say it sincerely but that Hell will be forbidden for him."

that he remembered Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he also remembered a mouthful of water which he had thrown on his face, after taking it from a well that was in their house. Mahmud said that he had heard ʿItban bin Malik, who was present with Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the battle of Badr saying, "I used to lead my people at Bani Salim in the prayer and there was a valley between me and those people. Whenever it rained it used to be difficult for me to cross it to go to their mosque. So I went to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'I have weak eyesight and the valley between me and my people flows during the rainy season and it becomes difficult for me to cross it; I wish you would come to my house and pray at a place so that I could take that place as a praying place.' Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'I will do so.' So Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr came to my house in the (next) morning after the sun had risen high. Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked my permission to let him in and I admitted him. He did not sit before saying, 'Where do you want us to offer the prayer in your house?' I pointed to the place where I wanted him to pray. So Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up for the prayer and started the prayer with Takbir and we aligned in rows behind him; and he offered two rakʿat, and finished them with Taslim, and we also performed Taslim with him. I detained him for a meal called "Khazir" which I had prepared for him.--("Khazir" is a special type of dish prepared from barley flour and meat soup)-- When the neighbors got the news that Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in my house, they poured it till there were a great number of men in the house. One of them said, 'What is wrong with Malik, for I do not see him?' One of them replied, 'He is a hypocrite and does not love Allah and His Apostle.' On that Allah's Apostle said, 'Don't say this. Haven't you seen that he said, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah for Allah's sake only.' The man replied, 'Allah and His Apostle know better; but by Allah, we never saw him but helping and talking with the hypocrites.' Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'No doubt, whoever says. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and by that he wants the pleasures of Allah, then Allah will save him from Hell." Mahmud added, "I told the above narration to some people, one of whom was Abu Aiyub, the companion of Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the battle in which he (Abu Aiyub) died and Yazid bin Mu'awiya was their leader in Roman Territory. Abu Aiyub denounced the narration and said, 'I doubt that Messenger of Allah ﷺ ever said what you have said.' I felt that too much, and I vowed to Allah that if I remained alive in that holy battle, I would (go to Medina and) ask ʿItban bin Malik if he was still living in the mosque of his people. So when he returned, I assumed Ihram for Hajj or ʿUmra and then I proceeded on till I reached Medina. I went to Bani Salim and ʿItban bin Malik, who was by then an old blind man, was leading his people in the prayer. When he finished the prayer, I greeted him and introduced myself to him and then asked him about that narration. He told that narration again in the same manner as he had narrated it the first time." [Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a battle, and the people were struck by starvation. The people sought permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to slaughter some of the camels on their backs, saying that it would reach Allah. When Umar ibn Al-Khattab saw that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had the intention to grant them permission to slaughter some of the camels on their backs, he said, "O Messenger of Allah, what would happen to us when we meet the enemy while we are hungry and weak? But if you, O Messenger of Allah, see that you call the people to gather the remains of their provisions and gather them, and then you supplicate to Allah for blessings upon them." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for the provisions and collected them. The people started bringing food, including dates, and the highest amount brought by anyone was a sa' of dates (equivalent to approximately three kilograms). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered them and then stood up to pray as long as Allah willed him to. Then he called the army with their utensils and ordered them to fill them with food. There was not a single utensil left in the army that was not filled, and the same amount remained. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed until his molars became visible, then he said, "I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah. Allah will not meet a servant who believes in these two testimonies except that He will enter him into Paradise on the Day of Resurrection, and the Fire will be forbidden for him."

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: Moses said, "O Lord, teach me something by which I may remember You and supplicate to You." Allah said, "O Moses, say 'There is no deity except Allah.'" Moses said, "O Lord, all Your servants say this." Allah said, "Say, 'There is no deity except Allah, and there is none worthy of worship except You.' I only desire something special from You." Allah said, "O Moses, if the seven heavens and all that they contain, and the seven earths were in one pan of the scale, and 'There is no deity except Allah' was in the other, it would outweigh them all."
