[Machine] "According to the saying of Allah, the Almighty: 'It was not proper for us to take [anyone] as an ally' [Al-Furqan 18] or 'to take [anyone] as a protector' [Al-Furqan 18], I heard the Prophet ﷺ reciting [it] as 'to take [anyone] besides you' [Al-Furqan 18], with the accusative case of the letter 'nun'."  

عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ ﷻ {مَا كَانَ يَنْبَغِي لَنَا أَنْ نَتَّخِذَ} [الفرقان 18] أَوْ نَتَّخِدَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {أَنْ نَتَّخِذَ مِنْ دُونِكَ} [الفرقان 18] بِنَصْبِ النُّونِ  

[Machine] According to the verse of Allah Almighty, "Alif Lam Meem. The Romans have been defeated" [Surah Ar-Rum, 30:2], did it say "Ghalabat" or "Ghulibat"? So the Prophet ﷺ said, "Read it for me, the Messenger of Allah, 'Alif Lam Meem. The Romans have been defeated'" [Surah Ar-Rum, 30:1]. "We did not write these two hadith except with this chain of narrators, except that Muhammad ibn Sa'id Ash-Shami is not from the condition of the book." Muhammad ibn Sa'id is the crucified and perished one, and Bakr ibn Khunays is abandoned.  

عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ ﷻ {الم غُلِبَتِ الرُّومُ} [الروم 2] أَوْ غَلَبَتْ؟ فَقَالَ أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ {الم غُلِبَتِ الرُّومُ} [الروم 1] «لَمْ نَكْتُبِ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ إِلَّا بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ إِلَّا أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ الشَّامِيَّ لَيْسَ مِنْ شَرْطِ الْكِتَابِ» محمد بن سعيد هو المصلوب هالك وبكر بن خنيس متروك  

[Machine] Ibn Umar said, "I recited to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ just as you recited to me, and he corrected me just as I corrected you." Ata' al-Awfi narrated this Hadith, and he did not provide any argument for it. However, Muslim presented a debate with Fudayl ibn Marzooq and did not present a debate with Ata'.  

ابْنُ عُمَرَ «قَرَأْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَمَا قَرَأْتَ عَلَيَّ فَأَخَذَ عَلَيَّ كَمَا أَخَذْتُ عَلَيْكَ» تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عَطِيَّةُ الْعَوْفِيُّ وَلَمْ يَحْتَجَّا بِهِ وَقَدِ احْتَجَّ مُسْلِمٌ بِالْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ مَرْزُوقٍ لم يحتجا بعطية  

[Machine] The Prophet peace be upon him recited, "So no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes" (Surah As-Sajdah, verse 17).  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَا أُخْفِيَ لَهُمْ مِنْ قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍ} [السجدة 17]  

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it is reported that he recited, "And the sea is set alight by a fire" [Al-Lukman 27], and he raised it.  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ {وَالْبَحْرُ يَمُدُّهُ} [لقمان 27] رَفَعَ  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Mus'ab ibn Umair while he was dead on his way back from Uhud. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood over him and prayed for him, then he recited this verse {Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah. Of them, some have fulfilled their obligations, and some of them are still waiting, but they have never changed their commitment} [Al-Ahzab 23]. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I bear witness that these are the martyrs in the sight of Allah on the Day of Judgment. Visit them and send salutations upon them. By the One in whose hand is my soul, no one greets them until the Day of Judgment except that they return the greeting."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ انْصَرَفَ مِنْ أُحُدٍ مَرَّ عَلَى مُصْعَبِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ وَهُوَ مَقْتُولٌ عَلَى طَرِيقِهِ فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَدَعَا لَهُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا} [الأحزاب 23] ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ شُهَدَاءُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَأْتُوهُمْ وَزُورُوهُمْ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَّا رُدُّوا عَلَيْهِ»  

[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ read, "Indeed, the people of Saba had for their dwelling a sign. This is a copy that we have not written down supremely except by the insistence of Abu al-Abbas, and the two sheikhs did not rely on Ibn al-Baylmani." It is not valid.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ لَقَدْ كَانَ لِسَبَاءَ فِي مَسَاكِنِهِمْ «هَذِهِ نُسْخَةٌ لَمْ نَكْتُبْهَا غَالِبَةً إِلَّا عَنْ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ وَالشَّيْخَانِ لَمْ يَحْتَجَّا بِابْنِ الْبَيْلَمَانِيِّ» لم يصح  

[Machine] That the Prophet of Allah ﷺ recited, "Their hearts trembled," they said, "What did your Lord say?" [Surah Saba (34:23)].  

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ {فُزِّعَ عَنْ قُلُوبِهِمْ قَالُوا مَاذَا قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ} [سبأ 23]  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ recited the verse: "And indeed he led astray numerous among you (O Mankind)" [Surah Ya Sin, verse 62], which is abbreviated. Its narrators are all trustworthy except for Isma'il ibn Rafi', as they did not rely on him.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنْكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا} [يس 62] مُخَفَّفَةً «رُوَاتُهُ كُلُّهُمْ ثِقَاتٌ غَيْرَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ فَإِنَّهُمَا لَمْ يَحْتَجَّا بِهِ» في إسناده إسماعيل بن رافع هالك  

When this surah was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: ʿVerily, you (O Muhammad is) will die, and verily, they (too) will die. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will be disputing before your Lord” (az-Zumar [39:30,31]), az-Zubair said: “O Messenger of Allah, will we face again the disputes we had among us in this world in addition to other sins?” He said: “Yes, you will face these disputes again until everyone who has a right has been given his right.” AzZubair said: “By Allah, the matter is very serious.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 1434)   

الزُّبَيْرُ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُمْ مَيِّتُونَ ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عِنْدَ رَبِّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ} [الزمر 31] قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُكَرَّرُ عَلَيْنَا مَا كَانَ بَيْنَنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعَ خَوَاصِّ الذُّنُوبِ؟ فَقَالَ «نَعَمْ يُكَرَّرُ عَلَيْهِمْ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يُؤَدُّوا إِلَى كُلِّ ذِي حَقٍّ حَقَّهُ» فَقَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ «وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ الْأَمْرَ لَشَدِيدٌ»  

"I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting: 'Say: "O My slaves who have transgressed against themselves! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, verily, Allah forgives all sins and I do not mind (referring to 39:53)." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3237)  

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ (يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا وَلَا يُبَالِي)  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made me read the verse "It is I who give (all) sustenance, Lord of power, steadfast (for ever). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3993)  

أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ (إِنِّي أَنَا الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ)  

[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ recited, "Indeed, those who have believed and whose descendants have followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants [in Paradise]" [Surah At-Tur: 21].  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ} [الطور 21]  

[Machine] I read to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "So is there any reminder for whoever wills to remember? (54:55) He replied, "So is there any reminder?" (54:15) with the letter 'daal'.  

قَرَأْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ «فَهَلْ مِنْ مُذَّكِرٍ» بِالذَّالِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ {فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ} [القمر 15] بِالدَّالِ  

[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ recited, "Reclining on green cushions and beautiful carpets." [Surah Ar-Rahman, verse 76]  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {مُتَكِّئِينَ عَلَى رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍ} [الرحمن 76]  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ recited, "Then drink from it [i.e., the spring of Tasneem]." [Surah Al-Waqi'ah, verse 55].  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ} [الواقعة 55]  

[Machine] She was with her daughter, the daughter of Al-'Ajma', during the days of Hajj. Budayl ibn Warqa' came to them riding the mount of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and called out that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is fasting should break his fast, for these are the days of eating and drinking." This hadith is not part of the collection of this book.  

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ مَعَ ابْنَتِهَا ابْنَةِ الْعَجْمَاءِ فِي أَيَّامِ الْحَجِّ بِمِنًى قَالَ فَجَاءَهُمْ بُدَيْلُ بْنُ وَرْقَاءَ عَلَى رَاحِلَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِرَحْلِهِ فَنَادَى أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ كَانَ صَائِمًا فَلْيُفْطِرْ فَإِنَّهُنَّ أَيَّامُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ» هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَيْسَ مِنْ جُمْلَةِ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite "It is [present in] fragrant plants and cold water" [Al-Waqi'ah 89].  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ} [الواقعة 89]  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ read, so divorce them before their waiting period ['iddat]. "A Muslim has reported this narration at length from Ibn Juraij from Ibn Zubair that he heard Abdur Rahman ibn Aiman asking about Abdullah ibn Umar regarding a man who divorced his wife while she was menstruating, and I presume he mentioned this wording." Muslim reported the narration longer than this.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ فِي قَبْلِ عِدَّتِهِنَّ «قَدْ أَخْرَجَ مُسْلِمٌ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ بِطُولِهِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَيْمَنَ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ فِي رَجُلٍ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ وَأَظُنُّهُ ذَكَرَ هَذَا اللَّفْظَ» أخرج مسلم الحديث بأطول منه  

[Machine] "I was holding the hand of Al-A'mash and Yusuf As-Samti on the other side, so I asked him about the saying of Allah Almighty: 'And the blowers of falsehood [i.e., the angels]'" (Surah Al-Muddaththir, 74:25). He said, "Did you come to know about that?" Then he said, "I recited the Quran to Yahya ibn Waththab thirty times, and Yahya recited it to 'Alqamah, and 'Alqamah recited it to Abdullah. Abdullah recited it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , saying: 'And reject [all] the deniers' (with a kasrah on the ra')."  

كُنْتُ آخِذًا بِيَدِ الْأَعْمَشِ وَيُوسُفُ السَّمْتِيُّ عَلَى الْجَانِبِ الْآخَرِ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {وَالرُّجْزَ} [المدثر 5] فَقَالَ أَخَذْتَ فِي ذَا ثُمَّ قَالَ قَرَأْتُ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ وَثَّابٍ ثَلَاثِينَ مَرَّةً وَقَرَأَ يَحْيَى عَلَى عَلْقَمَةَ وَقَرَأَ عَلْقَمَةُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ «وَقَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ (وَالرِّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ) بِكَسْرِ الرَّاءِ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting "And avoid the unclean idolatrous women" [Surah Al-Muddathir, verse 5] with the pronunciation of "r" as emphasized and he said, "They are the idols."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ} [المدثر 5] بِرَفْعِ الرَّاءِ وَقَالَ «هِيَ الْأَوْثَانُ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was talking about the period of revelation. He said, "So I said, 'Keep me company,' but they covered me up. Then Allah the Almighty revealed the verse {O you wrapped in garments} [Al-Muddathir 2]. Arise and warn, and your Lord glorify, and your clothing purify, and uncleanliness avoid." He said, "They are the idols."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فَتْرَةِ الْوَحْيِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ زَمِّلُونِي فَدَثَّرُونِي فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ} [المدثر 2] قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ قَالَ «هِيَ الْأَوْثَانُ»  

[Machine] We were with the Prophet ﷺ in a cave when the verse "By those [angels] sent forth with a clear animating word" (Quran, Surah Al-Mursalat, verse 1) was revealed. I memorized it immediately. And indeed, his mouth was wet with it so I do not know with which of these verses he sealed it: "So in what statement after it will they believe?" (Quran, Surah Al-Mursalat, verse 50) or "And when it is said to them, 'Bow [in prayer],' they do not bow." (Quran, Surah Al-Mursalat, verse 48)  

كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي غَارٍ فَنَزَلَتْ {وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا} [المرسلات 1] فَأَخَذْتُهَا مِنْ فِيهِ وَإِنَّ فَاهُ لَرَطْبٌ بِهَا فَلَا أَدْرِي بِأَيِّهَا خَتَمَ {فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ} [المرسلات 50] أَوْ {وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ} [المرسلات 48]  

the Prophet said: “You will be gathered barefoot, naked and uncircumcised.” “A woman said: “Will we see” or “look at each other’s nakedness?” He said: “O so-and-so! Every man among them on that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3332)   

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «تُحْشَرُونَ حُفَاةً عُرَاةً غُرْلًا» فَقَالَتْ زَوْجَتُهُ أَيَنْظُرُ بَعْضُنَا إِلَى عَوْرَةِ بَعْضٍ؟ فَقَالَ يَا فُلَانَةُ {لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ} [عبس 37]  

[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , he used to recite and what he was revealed with certainty, with clarity.  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِظَنِينٍ بِالظَّاءِ  

[Machine] The translation of the given text is: "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, used to recite, 'So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up for Allah's worship. And to your Lord direct [your] longing.'"  

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ» فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَّلَكَ مُثَقَّلٌ  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite: "Yes, certainly my signs have come to you, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were of the disbelievers." [Al-Zumar 59]  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {بَلَى قَدْ جَاءَتْكَ آيَاتِي فَكَذَّبْتَ بِهَا وَاسْتَكْبَرْتَ وَكُنْتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ} [الزمر 59]  

[Machine] "Yes, by Allah, you do not know that between the fat of their ear and their shoulder, there is a distance of seventy autumns, in which flow valleys of pus and blood."

So I said, "Rivers?"

He said, "No, rather valleys."  

«أَجَلْ وَاللَّهِ مَا تَدْرِي إِنَّ بَيْنَ سَعَةِ شَحْمَةِ أُذُنِهِمْ وَعَاتِقِهِ مَسِيرَةَ سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا تَجْرِي فِيهَا أَوْدِيَةُ الْقَيْحِ وَالدَّمِ» فَقُلْتُ أَنْهَارًا؟ قَالَ «لَا بَلْ أَوْدِيَةٌ» صحيح  

[Machine] Abu Bakr and Uthman, the sons of Abu Shaybah, narrated from Abu Usamah, who narrated from Umar ibn Muhammad, who narrated from Zaid bin Aslam, who narrated from his father, who narrated from Abu Hurairah, who narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he asked Jibril (Gabriel) about the following verse: "And the Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth will fall dead, except whom Allah wills" [Quran 39:68]. He (Jibril) said, "They are the martyrs of Allah Almighty."  

ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُثْمَانُ ابْنَا أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَنْ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ} مَنِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يَشَأِ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَصْعَقَهُمْ؟ قَالَ هُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ ﷻ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "No one can be better in their goodness to a Muslim or a non-Muslim except that Allah will reward them." We asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the reward for goodness to a non-Muslim?" He said, "If that person maintains family ties, gives in charity, or performs good deeds, then Allah will reward them with wealth, children, good health, and similar things." We asked, "What is their reward in the Hereafter?" He said, "Punishment less severe than the severe punishment." And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the verse, "Enter the family of Pharaoh in the worst of punishment" [Quran 40:46]. This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the verse.  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَا أَحْسَنَ مُحْسِنٌ مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَا كَافِرٍ إِلَّا أَثَابَهُ اللَّهُ» قَالَ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا إِثَابَةُ اللَّهِ الْكَافِرَ؟ قَالَ «إِنْ كَانَ قَدْ وَصَلَ رَحِمًا أَوْ تَصَدَّقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ أَوْ عَمِلَ حَسَنَةً أَثَابَهُ اللَّهُ الْمَالَ وَالْوَلَدَ وَالصِّحَّةَ وَأَشْبَاهَ ذَلِكَ» قَالَ فَقُلْنَا مَا إِثَابَتُهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ؟ فَقَالَ «عَذَابًا دُونَ الْعَذَابِ» قَالَ وَقَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ {أَدْخِلُوا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَشَدَّ الْعَذَابِ} [غافر 46] هَكَذَا قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَقْطُوعَةَ الْأَلْفِ  

[Machine] "O Muhammad, are you better or Abdullah?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Have you completed?" He replied, "Yes." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Ha, Meem. A revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Gracious. Until it reached, 'But if they turn away, then say, I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt that struck 'Ad and Thamud.'" Then 'Utbah said to him, "Is this enough for you, is this enough for you without anything else?" He replied, "No." So 'Utbah returned to the Quraysh and they said, "What is behind you?" He said, "I have not left anything. I see that you are talking to him, and I have spoken to him." They said, "Did he respond to you?" He said, "Yes, by the One who erected it with His Prophet, I did not understand anything from what he said, except that he warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt that struck 'Ad and Thamud." They said, "Woe to you! A man speaks to you in Arabic and you do not know what he said?" He said, "No, by Allah, I did not understand anything from what he said, except for mentioning the thunderbolt."  

يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَنْتَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ؟ فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَفَرَغْتَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ {حم تَنْزِيلٌ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [فصلت 2] حَتَّى بَلَغَ {فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا فَقُلْ أَنْذَرْتُكُمْ صَاعِقَةً مِثْلَ صَاعِقَةِ عَادٍ وَثَمُودَ} [فصلت 13] فَقَالَ لَهُ عُتْبَةُ حَسْبُكَ حَسْبُكَ مَا عِنْدَكَ غَيْرُ هَذَا؟ قَالَ «لَا» فَرَجَعَ عُتْبَةُ إِلَى قُرَيْشٍ فَقَالُوا مَا وَرَاءَكَ؟ فَقَالَ مَا تَرَكْتُ شَيْئًا أَرَى أَنَّكُمْ تُكَلِّمُونَهُ إِلَّا قَدْ كَلَّمْتُهُ قَالُوا فَهَلْ أَجَابَكَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ لَا وَالَّذِي نَصَبَهَا بِنَبِيِّهِ مَا فَهِمْتُ شَيْئًا مِمَّا قَالَ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ أَنْذَرَكُمْ صَاعِقَةً مِثْلَ صَاعِقَةِ عَادٍ وَثَمُودَ قَالُوا وَيْلَكَ يُكَلِّمُكَ رَجُلٌ بِالْعَرَبِيَّةِ وَلَا تَدْرِي مَا قَالَ؟ قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ مَا فَهِمْتُ شَيْئًا مِمَّا قَالَ غَيْرَ ذِكْرِ الصَّاعِقَةِ  

[Machine] Concerning the Prophet, peace be upon him, {And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour,} [Az-Zukhruf 43:61]. He said, "The descent of Jesus will occur before the Day of Resurrection."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ {وَإِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِلسَّاعَةِ} [الزخرف 61] قَالَ «خُرُوجُ عِيسَى قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ»  

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ used to say three takbirs (saying Allahu Akbar) when he would embark on his ride during travel. Then he would recite the following verse: 'Glory be to the One who has made this subservient to us, for we could not have controlled it ourselves, and surely to our Lord we are to return.' (Surah Az-Zukhruf, verse 14)"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ كَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ {سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ} [الزخرف 14]  

Verily Allah created the universe and when He had finished that, ties of relationship came forward and said This is the place for him who seeks refuge from severing (of blood-relationship). He said: Yes. Are you not satisfied that I should keep relationship with one who joins your ties of relationship and sever it with one who severs your (ties of relationship)? They (the ties of blood) said: Certainly so. Thereupon He said: Well, that is how things are for you. Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: Recite if you like:" But if you turn away you are sure to make mischief in the land and cut off the ties of kinship. Those it is whom Allah has cursed, so He has made them deaf and blinded their eyes. Do they not reflect on the Qur'an? Or, are there locks on their hearts?". (Using translation from Muslim 2554)   

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْخَلْقَ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْهُمْ قَامَتِ الرَّحِمُ فَقَالَتْ هَذَا مَقَامُ الْعَائِذِ بِكَ مِنَ الْقَطِيعَةِ قَالَ نَعَمْ أَمَا تَرْضَيْنَ أَنْ أَصِلَ مَنْ وَصَلَكِ وَأَقْطَعَ مَنْ قَطَعَكِ؟ قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ فَذَاكَ لَكِ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ {فَهَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ أَنْ تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَتُقَطِّعُوا أَرْحَامَكُمْ} [محمد 22] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى {أَمْ عَلَى قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَا} [محمد 24]  

[Machine] I heard the Prophet (pbuh) recite, "So would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth?" [Surah Muhammad, 22]. Al-Dhahabi remained silent on this summarization.  

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {فَهَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ أَنْ تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ} [محمد 22] سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, "So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. You are not over them a controller." [Al-Ghashiyah 22] "Except whoever turns away and disbelieves" [Al-Ghashiyah 23].  

قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ {فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَّكِرٌ لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ} [الغاشية 22] بِالصَّادِ {إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّى وَكَفَرَ} [الغاشية 23]  

[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ used to recite 'no, rather they do not honor the orphan, and they do not encourage the feeding of the poor' and he would pronounce 'ya' in all of these words."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ كَلَّا بَلْ لَا يُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ وَلَا يَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ وَيَأْكُلُونَ وَيُحِبُّونَ كُلُّهَا بِالْيَاءِ  

[Machine] "Abu Qilabah narrated from someone whom the Prophet ﷺ had recited the verse: 'So on that Day, no one will punish [as severely] as His punishment, and no one will bind [as severely] as His binding' [Surah Al-Fajr, 26], the binding of no one."  

عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَمَّنْ أَقْرَأَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ {فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ وَلَا يُوثِقُ} [الفجر 26] وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ  

[Machine] I heard Anas ibn Malik saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a hole and he said, "If adversity comes and he enters this hole, goodness would also come and enter upon him, and take him out." Then Allah, the Most High, revealed, "Verily, with hardship, there is relief. Verily, with hardship, there is relief." [Surah Al-Inshirah 6].  

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَبِحِيَالِهِ جُحْرٌ فَقَالَ «لَوْ جَاءَ الْعُسْرُ فَدَخَلَ هَذَا الْجُحْرَ لَجَاءَ الْيُسْرُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَخْرَجَهُ» قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا} [الشرح 6]  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to Ubayy, "Indeed, I will recite a Surah to you." Ubayy then asked him, "Were you commanded to do so by Allah?" He replied, "Yes." So he recited the verse, "{Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from disbelief] until there came to them clear evidence - a Messenger from Allah, reciting purified scriptures}" (Surah Al-Bayyinah, verse 2).  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِأُبَيٍّ «إِنِّي أُقْرِئُكَ سُورَةً» فَقَالَ لَهُ أُبَيٌّ أُمِرْتَ بِذَاكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» فَقَرَأَ {لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنْفَكِّينَ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ رَسُولٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ يَتْلُو صُحُفًا مُطَهَّرَةً} [البينة 2]  

“The Messenger of Allah recited this Ayah: ‘That Day it will declare its information.’ He said: “Do you know what its information is?” They said: “Allah and His Messenger know better.” He said: “That it testifies about what every male or female slave (of Allah) did upon its surface. It says: ‘He did this and that on this day.’ This is its information.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3353)  

قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا} [الزلزلة 4] قَالَ «أَتَدْرُونَ مَا أَخْبَارُهَا؟» قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ أَخْبَارَهَا أَنْ تَشْهَدَ عَلَى كُلِّ عَبْدٍ وَأَمَةٍ بِمَا عَمِلَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهَا أَنْ تَقُولَ عَمِلَ عَمَلَ كَذَا فِي يَوْمِ كَذَا فَهَذِهِ أَخْبَارَهَا  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ read, "He thinks that his wealth has made him eternal" with the pronunciation of the letter "seen" being broken.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ يَحْسِبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ بِكَسْرِ السِّينِ  

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ recite, "For the protection of Quraysh - Their protection [during] the caravan of winter and summer" [Quraysh 2].  

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {لِإِيلَافِ قُرَيْشٍ إِيلَافِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ} [قريش 2]  

[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ recited, "Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar." [Surah al-Kawthar, verse 1].  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ} [الكوثر 1]  

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform Witr and recite: ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High.’, [Al-A’la (87)] ‘Say: O you disbelievers!” [Al-Kafirun (109)] and ‘Say: Allah is One.”. [Al-Ikhlas (112)] (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1171)  

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكِ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ»  

[Machine] "When this Surah (chapter) was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited it when the victory of Allah and the conquest had come. He recited it until he finished it, then he said, 'My companions and I are in a state of readiness, and the people are in a state of readiness. There will be no migration after the conquest.'"  

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةُ إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ قَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَنَا وَأَصْحَابِي حَيِّزٌ وَالنَّاسُ حَيِّزٌ لَا هِجْرَةَ بَعْدَ الْفَتْحِ»  

[Machine] "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds." (Surah Al-Fatiha 1:2)

So, I said to my father, "Sa'eed informed you that Ibn Abbas said, 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful' is a verse." He replied, "Yes."  

{بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الفاتحة 2] فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي لَقَدْ أَخْبَرَكَ سَعِيدٌ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة 1] آيَةٌ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I not teach you a surah that has not been revealed in the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, or the Criterion, like it?". I said, "Yes". He said, "I hope that you will not leave through this door until you have learned it." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and I stood up with him, and he would speak to me while I would have my hand in his hand. I was hesitant to leave before he informed me about it, out of dislike for doing so. When I approached the door, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the surah that you promised me?" He said, "How will you recite it when you stand for the prayer?" So I recited Al-Fatiha, and he said, "It is it, and it is the seven oft-repeated and the glorious Qur'an that I have been given."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ سُورَةً مَا أُنْزِلَتْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ وَلَا فِي الزَّبُورِ وَلَا فِي الْفُرْقَانِ مِثْلُهَا؟» فَقُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ «إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ لَا تَخْرُجَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابِ حَتَّى تَعْلَمَهَا» فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقُمْتُ مَعَهُ فَجَعَلَ يُحَدِّثُنِي وَيَدِي فِي يَدِهِ فَجَعَلْتُ أَتَبَاطَأُ كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُخْبِرَنِي بِهَا فَلَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْبَابِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ السُّورَةَ الَّتِي وَعَدْتَنِي قَالَ «كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ إِذَا قُمْتَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ» فَقَرَأْتُ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ فَقَالَ «هِيَ هِيَ وَهِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ الَّذِي أُعْطِيتُ»  

[Machine] About the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, similar to him according to a Muslim condition.  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَحْوَهُعلى شرط مسلم  

[Machine] In His saying (praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds) [Al-Fatiha 2], He said: "The jinn and mankind."  

فِي قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الفاتحة 2] قَالَ «الْجِنُّ وَالْإِنْسُ»
