23. Book of Quranic Exegesis (Tafsīr)
[Machine] "The first Surah to be revealed from the Quran is 'Read in the name of your Lord who created.' If Ibn Uyaynah did not hear it from Az-Zuhri on the condition of being a Muslim."
[Machine] The translation of the given Arabic phrase into English is: "The first Surah that was revealed from the Quran is 'Read, in the name of your Lord.'"
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ was in the cave of Hira' when the angel came to him with a garment that had something written on it. The angel said to him, 'Read in the name of your Lord who created.' [Quran 96:1] I heard Abu Ali Al-Hafiz say that there is mention of Jabir in its chain of narrators, but it is a weak narration."
[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ was in Hira, and the first connected hadith mentioned him. All the narrators of this hadith are trustworthy. I have compiled this book based on the acceptance of adding trustworthy narrators. As for the prostration in "Read in the name of your Lord" (Al-Alaq 1), Muslim reported it from Abu Tahir, from Ibn Wahb, from Amr bin Al-Harith, from Ubaidullah bin Abi Ja'far, from Al-A'raj, from Abu Hurairah.
[Machine] "The instances of prostration in the Quran are not a revelation, except for the prostration in Surah As-Sajdah (The Prostration) and Surah An-Najm (The Star). And recite with the name of your Lord, the One who created." And I am astonished by the one who tells me but does not prostrate in the appropriate places.
