[AI] I heard Sa'd reading "We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten." So I said, "Indeed, Sa'id recites it as 'or cause us to forget it'." He said, "Indeed, the Quran was not revealed to be difficult upon Musayyib or his son." I said, "And it is my understanding that he recited 'We will make you recite, so do not forget' and 'Remember your Lord when you forget'."

سَمِعْتُ سَعْدًا يَقْرَأُ «مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نَنْسَاهَا» قَالَ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ سَعِيدًا يَقْرَؤُهَا {أَوْ نُنْسِهَا} [البقرة 106] قَالَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ عَلَى الْمُسَيِّبِ وَلَا عَلَى ابْنِهِ قَالَ وَحِفْظِي أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ {سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسَى} {وَاذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ} [الكهف 24]

[AI] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'The Quran was revealed with the embellishment, likening it to the form of a bird' (Surah Al-Imran, 49), 'As an excuse or as a warning' (Surah Al-Mursilat, 6), and 'And the two shells' (Surah Al-A'raf, 54), 'Indeed, to Him belongs the creation and the command' (Surah Al-A'raf, 54), and its similitudes.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أُنْزِلَ الْقُرْآنُ بِالتَّفْخِيمِ {كَهَيْئَةِ الطَّيْرِ} [آل عمران 49] {عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا} [المرسلات 6] وَالصَّدَفَيْنِ {أَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرُ} [الأعراف 54] وَأَشْبَاهُهَا

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ : "When the people of the Hellfire gather in the Hellfire, along with them are some people from the Muslims. They will say, 'What benefit did your Islam bring you while you ended up with us in the Hellfire?' They will reply, 'We had sins for which we were punished.' Allah heard what they said and commanded that those who belong to the Qibla (Muslims) be taken out of the Hellfire. At that point, the disbelievers say, 'If only we were Muslims and were also taken out as they were.' Then the Prophet ﷺ recited the verse, 'Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the clear Book. Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers' [Quran 15:2-3]."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ أَهْلُ النَّارِ فِي النَّارِ وَمَعَهُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقِبْلَةِ مَنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا مَا أَغْنَى عَنْكُمْ إِسْلَامُكُمْ وَقَدْ صِرْتُمْ مَعَنَا فِي النَّارِ؟ قَالُوا كَانَتْ لَنَا ذُنُوبٌ فَأُخِذْنَا بِهَا فَسَمِعَ اللَّهُ مَا قَالُوا قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِمَنْ كَانَ فِي النَّارِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقِبْلَةِ فَأُخْرِجُوا فَيَقُولُ الْكُفَّارُ يَا لَيْتَنَا كُنَّا مُسْلِمَيْنِ فَنُخْرَجُ كَمَا أُخْرِجُوا قَالَ وَقَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ {الر تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْآنٍ مُبِينٍ رُبَّمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمَيْنَ} [الحجر 2] مُثَقَّلَةً

that regarding the saying of Allah, Most High: "The Day when We shall call together all human beings with their (respective) Imam (17:71)" the Prophet ﷺ said: "One of you will be called out to be given his record in his right hand, he will be grown in his body to sixty forearm-lengths, his face will be whitened, and a crown of sparkling pearls will be placed upon his head. So he will go to his companions, who can see him from afar, and they will say: 'O Allah! Bring this one to us, and let us be blessed by him.' Until he reaches them, and says to them: 'Receive the good news! For each man among you shall be the likes of this.'" [He ﷺ said:] "As for the disbeliever, then his face shall be blackened, he will be grown in his body to sixty forearm-lengths in the image of Adam, he will given a crown, and his companions will see him and say: 'We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of this one. O Allah! Do not bring this one to us.'" He said: "So when he reaches them, they say: 'O Allah! Take him away' so they will be told: 'May Allah cast you away! عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى {يَوْمَ نَدْعُو كُلَّ أُنَاسٍ بِإِمَامِهِمْ} [الإسراء 71] قَالَ «يُدْعَى أَحَدُهُمْ فَيُعْطَى كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَيُمَدُّ لَهُ فِي جِسْمِهِ سِتُّونَ ذِرَاعًا» قَالَ «وَيُبَيِّضُ وَجْهُهُ وَيُجْعَلُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ تَاجٌ مِنْ لُؤْلُؤٍ يَتَلَأْلَأُ» قَالَ «فَيَنْطَلِقُ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ» قَالَ فَيَرَوْنَهُ مِنْ بَعِيدٍ فَيَقُولُونَ اللَّهُمَّ ائْتِنَا بِهِ وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي هَذَا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُمْ فَيَقُولُ أَبْشِرُوا إِنَّ لِكُلِّ رَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ مِثْلَ هَذَا وَأَمَّا الْكَافِرُ فَيُسَوَّدُ وَجْهُهُ وَيُمَدُّ لَهُ فِي جِسْمِهِ سِتُّونَ ذِرَاعًا عَلَى صُورَةِ آدَمَ فَيَرَاهُ أَصْحَابُهُ فَيَقُولُونَ نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ هَذَا اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَأْتِنَا بِهِ قَالَ فَيَأْتِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُونَ اللَّهُمَّ أَخِّرْهُ قَالَ فَيَقُولُ أَبْعَدَكُمُ اللَّهُ فَإِنَّ لِكُلٍّ مِنْكُمْ مِثْلَ هَذَا

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ stayed in Makkah as a prophet for thirteen years, then the verse "Adkhilni madkhal as-sidqi wa akhrijni makhraja as-sidqi" [Al-Israa 80] was revealed to him with the opening of the Meem, so he migrated.

مَكَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِمَكَّةَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ سِنِينَ نَبِيًّا فَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ {أَدْخِلْنِي مَدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِي مَخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ} [الإسراء 80] بِفَتْحِ الْمِيمِ فَهَاجَرَ

I was sitting behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who was riding a donkey while the sun was setting. He asked: Do you know where this sets ? I replied: Allah and his Apostle know best. He said: It sets in a spring of warm water (Hamiyah). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4002)

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَرَأَى الشَّمْسَ حِينَ غَرَبَتْ فَقَالَ «يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ أَيْنَ تَغْرُبُ هَذِهِ؟» فَقُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّهَا تَغْرُبُ فِي عَيْنٍ حَامِيَةٍ» غَيْرَ مَهْمُوزَةٍ

[AI] "I do not know how the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon Him, read 'Aitiyyan' or 'Jithiyyan,' as both are with a dammah."

«لَا أَدْرِي كَيْفَ قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عِتِيًّا أَوْ جِثِيًّا فَإِنَّهُمَا جَمِيعًا بِالضَّمِ»

[AI] 'Aisha used to send charity to the people of As-Suffah and she would say, "Do not give them from the idle and the lazy, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'They are the successors who will come after them, who have neglected their prayers.'" (Surah Maryam, 19:59)

أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ كَانَتْ تُرْسِلُ بِالشَّيْءِ صَدَقَةً لِأَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ وَتَقُولُ لَا تُعْطُوا مِنْهُمْ بَرْبَرِيًّا وَلَا بَرْبَرِيَّةً فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ هُمُ الْخَلَفُ الَّذِينَ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا الصَّلَاةَ} [مريم 59]

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) recited, "The heavens almost break apart from it" with the letter Ya and Nun, and "And the mountains crumble" with the letter Ta. "That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son. And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should adopt a son" [Maryam 92] is recited, open after open.

قَرَأَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ {طَهْ} [طه 1] مَفْتُوحَةً فَأَخَذَهَا عَلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ {طَهْ} [طه 1] مَكْسُورَةً فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ إِنَّمَا يَعْنِي ضَعْ رِجْلَكَ مَفْتُوحَةً فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ «هَكَذَا قَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهَكَذَا أَنْزَلَهَا جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say, "The barrier of Yajuj and Majuj will be opened, as Allah, mighty and majestic, has said, 'From every hole they will emerge.' " (Quran 21:96). Ibn Ishaq said in the recitation of Abdullah, "From every grave they will emerge," using the letter "jeem" and "thaa," like His saying, 'From the graves they will emerge.' " (Quran 36:51). And they are the graves.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ تُفْتَحُ يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ كَمَا قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {مِنْ كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنْسِلُونَ} [الأنبياء 96] قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ فِي قِرَاءَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مِنْ كُلِّ جَدَثٍ يَنْسِلُونَ بِالْجِيمِ وَالثَّاءِ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِ {مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَنْسِلُونَ} [يس 51] وَهِيَ الْقُبُورُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, "And you will see the people as drunk, while they are not drunk." [Al-Hajj, 2] Al-Bukhari narrated this Hadith from Umar ibn Hafs ibn Ghiyath from his father from Al-A'mash from Abu Salih from Abu Sa'id who said, Allah said, "O Adam, send out the Fire." The Hadith is long and at the end it says, "And you will see the people as drunk, while they are not drunk." [Al-Hajj, 2] And the most authentic of the two Hadiths is the Hadith narrated by Imam Al-Bukhari.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ {وَتَرَى النَّاسَ سُكَارَى وَمَا هُمْ بِسُكَارَى} [الحج 2] قَدْ أَخْرَجَ الْبُخَارِيُّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ «يَا آدَمُ أَخْرِجْ بَعْثَ النَّارِ» وَالْحَدِيثُ بِطُولِهِ وَفِي آخِرِهِ {وَتَرَى النَّاسَ سُكَارَى وَمَا هُمْ بِسُكَارَى} [الحج 2] وَأَصَحُّ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ الْحَدِيثُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَهُ الْإِمَامُ الْبُخَارِيُّ

“When the Prophet was expelled from Makkah, Abu Bakr said to him: ‘They have driven out their Prophet, verily to Allah we belong and to Him we return. They are surely doomed.’ Then it was revealed: ‘Permission to fight (against disbelievers) is given to those (believers) who are fought against, because they have been wronged; and surely, Allah is able to give them (believers) victory.’ Then I knew that there would be fighting.” Ibn Abbas said: “This is the first Verse that was revealed concerning fighting.” (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3085)

لَمَّا أُخْرِجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ مَكَّةَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَخْرَجُوا نَبِيَّهَمْ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ لَيَهْلِكُنَّ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى نَصْرِهِمْ لَقَدِيرٌ} [الحج 39] قَالَ «وَهِيَ أَوَّلُ آيَةٍ نَزَلَتْ فِي الْقِتَالِ»

[AI] I asked Aisha, the mother of the believers, how the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) used to recite this verse: "And those who give what they give." She said, "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) recite it as 'yutoonan'."

قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ هَذَا الْحَرْفَ {وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوْا} [المؤمنون 60] قَالَتْ أَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَؤُهَا {يُؤْتُونَ} [المؤمنون 60]

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite, "Is it that you disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two Days? And do you join equals with Him? That is the Lord of all the worlds." (Surah Al-Fussilat, 41:9). He said, "The polytheists used to reject and turn away from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ {مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِهِ سَامِرًا تَهْجُرُونَ} [المؤمنون 67] قَالَ كَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَتَهَجَّرُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ {وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَالِحُونَ} [المؤمنون 104] قَالَ «تَشْوِيهِ النَّارُ فَتَقَلَّصُ شَفَتُهُ الْعُلْيَا حَتَّى تَبْلُغَ وَسَطَ رَأْسِهِ وَتَسْتَرْخِي شَفَتُهُ السُّفْلَى حَتَّى تَبْلُغَ سُرَّتَهُ»
