10. Zakāh (Prescribed Charity) (11/13)
[Machine] God Almighty said, "And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion." [Al-Bayyinah: 5]
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I advise a person to be kind to his mother three times, and to be kind to his father twice, and to be kind to his guardian who takes care of him, even if he causes harm to him." The scholar Sheikh Mansour disagreed with Mansour's name.
10.130 [Machine] The best form of goodness is for a man to maintain good relations with his father.
We said to him ('Abdullah b. 'Umar): May Allah do good to you, these are desert Arabs and they are satisfied even with meagre (things). Thereupon Abdullah said: His father was loved dearly by 'Umar b. Khattib and I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: The finest act of goodness on the part of a son is to treat kindly the loved ones of his father. (Using translation from Muslim 2552a)
10.131 [Machine] The best charity is that given without the giver's wealth being noticed
The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best charity is that which is practiced by a wealthy person. And start giving first to your dependents." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1426)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best charity is that which is given while one is wealthy, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand. Begin with those who are dependent on you." Abu Salih ibn Abi Tahir narrated to us that my grandfather Yahya ibn Mansur informed us, and he said: Ahmad ibn Salamah narrated to us, and he said: Ahmad ibn Abdah ad-Dabbi and Muhammad ibn Bashshar al-'Abdi reported to us. They said: Yahya and Yanian ibn Sa'id narrated to us, and they said: Amr ibn Uthman mentioned it in a similar manner, except that he said: Hakeem ibn Hizam narrated to him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best charity, or the most virtuous charity, is that which is given while one is wealthy."
10.132 [Machine] What is mentioned in the effort of the reduced?
Abu Hurairah reported I asked Messenger of Allah ﷺ, What kind of sadaqah is most excellent? He replied What a man with little property can afford to give; and begin with those for whom you are responsible. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1677)
The Prophet ﷺ was asked: Which of the actions is better ? He replied: Standing for long time (in prayer). He was again asked: Which alms is better ? He replied: The alms given by a man possessing small property acquired by his labour. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1449)
10.133 [Machine] What is the evidence that his saying, "The best charity is that given from surplus wealth" and his saying when asked about the best charity, "that which is given with ease from what is little" differ according to the varying circumstances of people's patience in times of hardship, poverty, and sufficiency with the minimum of needfulness, and success comes only from Allah.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us one day to give sadaqah. At that time I had some property. I said: Today I shall surpass AbuBakr if I surpass him any day. I, therefore, brought half my property. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked: What did you leave for your family? I replied: The same amount. AbuBakr brought all that he had with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him: What did you leave for your family? He replied: I left Allah and His Apostle for them. I said: I shall never compete you in anything. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1678)
[Machine] About the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Battle of Tabuk, he mentioned the hadith at length, and in it, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, part of my repentance is to give charity from my wealth to Allah and to the Messenger." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hold on to some of your wealth, for it is better for you." So I said, "Then I will hold on to my arrow from the Battle of Khaybar," and he mentioned the hadith.

[Machine] About the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and in what happened before that in matters in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a role, Hussein claimed that Abu Lubabah said when Allah forgave him, "O Messenger of Allah, I will abandon the home of my people where I committed sin and I will migrate and live with you, and I will donate one-third of my wealth to Allah and His Messenger." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Hussein claimed that one-third will be compensated for you." This was narrated by Muhammad ibn Abi Hafsah from Az-Zuhri from Hussein ibn As-Saib ibn Abi Lubabah from his father who said, "When Allah forgave Abu Lubabah, he said, 'I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned it to him.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'One-third will be compensated for you.'"

[Machine] While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a man came to him holding a golden egg, which he had acquired from some battles or mines. He approached the Prophet ﷺ from his right side and said, "O Messenger of Allah, take this as a charity from me. By Allah, I have no wealth other than this." The Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. Then he came to him from his left side and said the same thing. Once again, the Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. Finally, the man came to him from in front of him and said the same thing. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give it here," and he forcibly threw it away. If it had struck him, it would have hurt him or caused him pain. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "One of you may intentionally bring his wealth and give it in charity, but then he sits waiting for people to praise him. Charity is only accepted from those who are self-sufficient. Take what belongs to you, for we have no need for it." So the man took his wealth and left. According to Hammad bin Salamah, Muhammad bin Ishaq stated in this hadith, "I acquired this from a mine."

[Machine] A man entered the mosque while the Prophet ﷺ was on the pulpit on Friday. The Prophet called him and instructed him to pray two units of prayer. Then the man entered during the second Friday prayer while the Prophet ﷺ was on the pulpit. The Prophet called him and instructed him to pray two units of prayer. Then the man entered during the third Friday prayer and mentioned the same thing. Then the Prophet said, "Give charity, so give charity." He gave him two of the garments given for charity. Then he said, "Give charity, so he threw one of his garments at him. The Prophet ﷺ disapproved of what he had done and disliked it. Then he said, 'Look at this man who entered the mosque in such a disheveled state. I called you all to help him and give him charity, and to clothe him, but you did not do so. So I said, 'Give charity,' and I myself gave him two of the garments given for charity. Then I said, 'Give charity,' and he threw one of his garments at him. Take your garment and reprimand him.'"

The next one said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I had ten dinars and I gave one of them in charity. The next one said: I had one dinar and I gave one-tenth of it in charity. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “You are all the same in reward, for each of you gave one tenth of his wealth.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 743)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O son of Adam, if you give in charity, it is better for you, and if you withhold it, it is evil for you. Do not blame anyone for a modest provision, and start with those who are under your care. The upper hand is better than the lower hand." This is the saying of Muhammad ibn Bashshar, and in the narration of Al-Jahdamy it is attributed to Shaddad Abu Ammar, and the rest are equal.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Blessed is the one who humbles himself without being belittled, and feels low in himself without having a lowly status. He spends his wealth that he has accumulated without disobedience, he shows mercy to the oppressed and needy, he associates with people of knowledge and wisdom. Blessed is the one who humbles himself, and his earnings are good, his character is upright, and his intentions are pure. He keeps away from harming others. Blessed is the one who acts upon his knowledge, spends generously from his wealth, and refrains from speaking unnecessarily." 7784 Ali narrated to us, Ahmad informed us, Ubayd ibn Sharik informed us, Adam informed us, Ibn Ayyash narrated to us from Al-Mut'im ibn Maqdam and from Anbasah bin Sa'id Al-Kala'i from Nasih from Rukb Al-Misri, who mentioned something similar to this in meaning, except that he did not mention the statement, "Blessed is the one who humbles himself and has good earnings," and he said, "Blessed is the one whose character is good, and his intentions are honored."

10.135 [Machine] What is mentioned in the rights of property
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ : "There is no owner of camels, cattle, or sheep who does not give their due rights except that they will be made to sit on the Day of Judgment in a barren land. The land will be covered in mud, which will be trampled by the hooves of the animals, and the horns of the animals will push and gore it. On that day, there will be no grazing, no broken horns. We asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what are their due rights?' He said, 'Letting the male mate, watering them, and milking them by the water, and carrying them on the path of Allah. And the owner of wealth who does not give his zakat will be transformed on the Day of Judgment into a bold, horned dwarf who will chase its owner wherever he goes, while he flees. It will be said, 'This is your wealth that you were stingy with.' When he sees that he cannot escape from it, he will put his hand in its mouth, and it will begin to bite it like a male camel bites."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that the owner of a camel who does not give it its right, which includes milking it on the day of its return, will find all the camels he owned on the Day of Judgment gathered for him. He will not lose even a single strand of their hair. Then, the camels will trample him with their hooves and bite him with their mouths. Every time the last one of them passes over him, the first one will return to him. This will continue for a day that is equivalent to fifty thousand years until the matter is settled among people. Then, he will see his path either leading to Paradise or Hellfire.
10.136 [Machine] What is mentioned in the interpretation of Al-Ma'un?
[Machine] We used to count the Ma'oon (a type of food) during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ nakedly, with only a bucket and a pot. 7790 was the count. And that is how it was.

10.137 [Machine] What is mentioned in the text?
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There are forty good deeds, the highest of which is the milking of a goat. A man does not perform any of these qualities hoping for their reward or believing in their promise, except that Allah admits him to Paradise through them." Hassaan said: "So we started counting the responding of greetings, removing harmful objects from the path, and similar actions that are less than milking a goat, and we did not reach fifteen."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "There are forty characteristics, the highest of which is the act of grazing goats. Any servant who performs any of these characteristics in the hope of its reward and belief in its promise, Allah ﷻ will admit him into Paradise through it." Then he mentioned the saying of Hassan with its meaning.
[Machine] Translation: The Prophet ﷺ forbade and mentioned some qualities and said, "Whoever gives a fragrance, it becomes charity and brings peace from its morning to its evening."
[Machine] The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The best charity is the provision of a camel to a Muslim family that goes out in the morning with a sufficient supply of food and returns in the evening with a sufficient supply of water. Its reward with Allah is immense."
10.138 [Machine] What is mentioned in His saying: "And [they] give preference over themselves, even though they are in need." [Al-Hashr: 9]
A man came to the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ sent a messenger to his wives (to bring something for that man to eat) but they said that they had nothing except water. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who will take this (person) or entertain him as a guest?" An Ansar man said, "I." So he took him to his wife and said to her, "Entertain generously the guest of Messenger of Allah ﷺ " She said, "We have got nothing except the meals of my children." He said, "Prepare your meal, light your lamp and let your children sleep if they ask for supper." So she prepared her meal, lighted her lamp and made her children sleep, and then stood up pretending to mend her lamp, but she put it off. Then both of them pretended to be eating, but they really went to bed hungry. In the morning the Ansari went to Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, "Tonight Allah laughed or wondered at your action." Then Allah revealed: "But give them (emigrants) preference over themselves even though they were in need of that And whosoever is saved from the covetousness Such are they who will be successful." [Machine] ibn Omar fell ill and desired grapes. So Safiyyah sent him a dirham and he bought a bunch of grapes with it. The beggar followed the Messenger and when he reached the door, he entered and said, "The beggar, the beggar." Ibn Omar said, "Give it to him," so they gave it to him. Then Safiyyah sent another dirham and bought another bunch. The beggar followed the Messenger again, and when he reached the door and entered, he said, "The beggar, the beggar." Ibn Omar said, "Give it to him," so they gave it to him. And Safiyyah sent a message to the beggar and said, "By Allah, if you return, I will never give you any good." Then she sent another dirham and bought another bunch with it.

[Machine] "He (the Prophet) came and said: 'Which charity do you find most desirable?' He (the Prophet) replied: 'Giving water to drink.' This is the narration of Muhammad ibn 'Ararah. And in the narration of 'Affan, Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah said: 'O Messenger of Allah, which charity is the best?' And he (the Messenger of Allah) added: 'Sa'd had a water source in Madinah.' Abu Hurairah reported the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ as saying “ While a man was going on his way, he felt himself thirsty severely. He found a well and e went down in it. He drank water and came out. Suddenly he saw a dog panting and eating soil due to thirst. The man said (to himself) “This dog must have reached the same condition due to thirst as I had reached. So he went down into the well, filled his sock with water, held it with his mouth and came up. He supplied water to the dog. Allaah appreciated this and forgave him.” They asked “Apostle of Allaah ﷺ, Is there any reward for us for these beasts? He replied, For every cool liver there is a reward.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2550)

[Machine] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a lost camel that had covered my watering hole, would I receive a reward? He said, "Yes, and every creature with a liver has informed us." Abu Hassan Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Dawood Al-Razzaz of Baghdad informed us, and Abu Bakr Al-Shafi'i narrated it to us, and Muhammad ibn Al-Jahm narrated it to Ya'la ibn 'Ubayd, and Muhammad ibn Ishaq mentioned it. Yazeed ibn Harun narrated it from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Abdul Rahman, from his father, from his uncle.

[Machine] A Bedouin man came to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ and asked, "Inform me of a deed that will bring me closer to obeying Allah and keep me away from the Fire." The Prophet asked, "Have the two qualities become a part of you?" The man replied, "Yes." The Prophet advised, "Then you should speak the truth and give what is in excess." The man said, "By Allah, I cannot speak the truth all the time, and I cannot give what is in excess." The Prophet then said, "Feed the hungry and spread peace." The man said, "This is also difficult." The Prophet asked, "Do you have camels?" The man replied, "Yes." The Prophet said, "Look for a weak camel from your herd and give it to the people of Abiyyat who do not have drinking water except from wells far away. Perhaps your camel will not die and your watering vessel will not break until you reach Paradise." The Bedouin man then left while reciting takbir (saying Allahu Akbar). It is said that his watering vessel did not break, and his camel did not die until he was killed as a martyr.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The likeness of the hypocrite and the miser is like that of two men who have two gardens or two fields of iron from under their breasts until their throats. When the hypocrite intends to spend, his armor tightens and it tears his sides until it grasps his neck or his collarbone. And when the miser intends to spend, it contracts upon him and its every ring binds its place until it grasps his neck or his collarbone." The Prophet ﷺ said, "It expands it but it does not become spacious even once. It was narrated from Abu Abdullah Al-Haafiz, Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq, and others who said that Abu Al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated from Ar-Rabi' ibn Sulayman who narrated from Ash-Shafi'i who narrated from Sufyan ibn Uyaynah who mentioned it with a similar chain of narrators except that he said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'It expands it but it does not become spacious even once.'" [Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is not a day that dawns upon the servants except that two angels descend. One of them says, 'O Allah, give to the one who spends, replacing their wealth,' and the other says, 'O Allah, give to the one who withholds, causing their wealth to perish.'"

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ preached and said: Abstain from avarice, for those who had been before you were annihilated due to avarice.
Sadaqa is due on every joint of a person, every day the sun rises. Administering of justice between two men is also a Sadaqa. And assisting a man to ride upon his beast, or helping him load his luggage upon it, is a Sadaqa; and a good word is a Sadaqa; and every step that you take towards prayer is a Sadaqa, and removing of harmful things from the pathway is a Sadaqa. (Using translation from Muslim 1009)
The Prophet ﷺ said, "On every Muslim there is enjoined (a compulsory) Sadaqa (alms)." They (the people) said, "If one has nothing?' He said, "He should work with his hands so that he may benefit himself and give in charity." They said, "If he cannot work or does not work?" He said, "Then he should help the oppressed unhappy person (by word or action or both)." They said, "If he does not do it?" He said, "Then he should enjoin what is good (or said what is reasonable).' They said, "If he does not do that''' He said, "Then he should refrain from doing evil, for that will be considered for Him as a Sadaqa (charity) . " (Using translation from Bukhārī 6022)
Every one of the children of Adam has been created with three hundred and sixty joints; so he who declares the Glory of Allah, praises Allah, declares Allah to be One, Glorifies Allah, and seeks forgiveness from Allah, and removes stone, or thorn, or bone from people's path, and enjoins what is good and forbids from evil, to the number of those three hundred and sixty joints, will walk that day having saved himself from the Fire. Abu Taubah said: "Perhaps he said: 'Will reach the evening.'" (Using translation from Muslim 1007a)

some of the people from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: Messenger of Allah, the rich have taken away (all the) reward. They observe prayer as we do; they keep the fasts as we keep, and they give Sadaqa out of their surplus riches. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: Has Allah not prescribed for you (a course) by following which you can (also) do sadaqa? In every declaration of the glorification of Allah (i. e. saying Subhan Allah) there is a Sadaqa, and every Takbir (i. e. saying Allah-O-Akbar) is a sadaqa, and every praise of His (saying al-Hamdu Lillah) is a Sadaqa and every declaration that He is One (La illha ill-Allah) is a sadaqa, and enjoining of good is a sadaqa, and forbidding of that which is evil is a Sadaqa, and in man's sexual Intercourse (with his wife, ) there is a Sadaqa. They (the Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, is there reward for him who satisfies his sexual passion among us? He said: Tell me, if he were to devote it to something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his part? Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he should have a reward.
