10. Zakāh (Prescribed Charity)
Sadaqa is due on every joint of a person, every day the sun rises. Administering of justice between two men is also a Sadaqa. And assisting a man to ride upon his beast, or helping him load his luggage upon it, is a Sadaqa; and a good word is a Sadaqa; and every step that you take towards prayer is a Sadaqa, and removing of harmful things from the pathway is a Sadaqa. (Using translation from Muslim 1009)
The Prophet ﷺ said, "On every Muslim there is enjoined (a compulsory) Sadaqa (alms)." They (the people) said, "If one has nothing?' He said, "He should work with his hands so that he may benefit himself and give in charity." They said, "If he cannot work or does not work?" He said, "Then he should help the oppressed unhappy person (by word or action or both)." They said, "If he does not do it?" He said, "Then he should enjoin what is good (or said what is reasonable).' They said, "If he does not do that''' He said, "Then he should refrain from doing evil, for that will be considered for Him as a Sadaqa (charity) . " (Using translation from Bukhārī 6022)
Every one of the children of Adam has been created with three hundred and sixty joints; so he who declares the Glory of Allah, praises Allah, declares Allah to be One, Glorifies Allah, and seeks forgiveness from Allah, and removes stone, or thorn, or bone from people's path, and enjoins what is good and forbids from evil, to the number of those three hundred and sixty joints, will walk that day having saved himself from the Fire. Abu Taubah said: "Perhaps he said: 'Will reach the evening.'" (Using translation from Muslim 1007a)
some of the people from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: Messenger of Allah, the rich have taken away (all the) reward. They observe prayer as we do; they keep the fasts as we keep, and they give Sadaqa out of their surplus riches. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: Has Allah not prescribed for you (a course) by following which you can (also) do sadaqa? In every declaration of the glorification of Allah (i. e. saying Subhan Allah) there is a Sadaqa, and every Takbir (i. e. saying Allah-O-Akbar) is a sadaqa, and every praise of His (saying al-Hamdu Lillah) is a Sadaqa and every declaration that He is One (La illha ill-Allah) is a sadaqa, and enjoining of good is a sadaqa, and forbidding of that which is evil is a Sadaqa, and in man's sexual Intercourse (with his wife, ) there is a Sadaqa. They (the Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, is there reward for him who satisfies his sexual passion among us? He said: Tell me, if he were to devote it to something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his part? Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he should have a reward. (Using translation from Muslim 1006)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abu Dharr, do not belittle any good deed, even if it is as little as meeting your brother with a cheerful face. And if you were to pour the contents of your bucket into the container of the one seeking water in order to provide for them, or if you were to increase the broth of your pot when cooking and share it with your neighbors."
[Machine] "From the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said: Every good deed is a charity." And in the narration of Abu Dawud, he said: "Your Prophet, ﷺ , said."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no envy except in two [cases]: a man whom Allah has given the Quran, and he recites it day and night, and a man whom Allah has given wealth, and he spends it day and night."
Messenger of Allah ﷺ I said, "Not to wish to be the like of except two men: A man whom Allah has taught the Qur'an and he recites it during the hours of the night and during the hours of the day, and his neighbor listens to him and says, 'I wish I had been given what has been given to so-and-so, so that I might do what he does; and a man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it on what is just and right, whereupon an other man May say, 'I wish I had been given what so-and-so has been given, for then I would do what he does." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5026)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave us an example of the world, using four people as examples. One man was given knowledge and wealth by Allah, and he uses his knowledge in his wealth. Another man was given knowledge by Allah but not wealth, so he says if Allah had given him what He gave the other person, he would do the same. They are equal in reward. Another man was given wealth but not knowledge, so he withholds his right and spends it in vain. Another man was not given knowledge or wealth, so he says if Allah had given him what He gave the other person, he would do the same. They are equal in sin.
