10. Zakāh (Prescribed Charity)
[Machine] A Bedouin man came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, guide me to a deed that if I perform it, I will enter Paradise." The Prophet replied, "Worship Allah alone, without associating any partners with Him, establish the obligatory prayers, give the obligatory charity, and fast during the month of Ramadan." The Bedouin man said, "By the One who has sent you with the truth, I will not increase or decrease upon this." Then, as he turned to leave, the Prophet said, "Whoever wants to see a man from the people of Paradise, let him look at this man."
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "When you pay your Zakat, you have removed its harm from yourself."
[Machine] "He heard Jabir say, 'When you pay the zakat of your wealth, its evil is removed.' He mentioned this statement as attributed and this is the most correct narration, as it has been reported with another reliable chain."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When you pay your Zakah, you have fulfilled your obligation. And whoever accumulates prohibited wealth and then gives it in charity, he will not have any reward for it, and his burden will be upon him."
[Machine] "From the Prophet ﷺ , he said that whoever pays their Zakat has fulfilled their obligation, and whoever gives more, it is better. Abu Bakr bin Muhammad informed us that Abu Al-Husayn informed us that Al-Luluyyi informed us that Abu Dawood mentioned it."
[Machine] She asked the Prophet ﷺ or it was said she was asked about this verse: "And in their wealth is a recognized right." He said, "Verily, in this wealth there is a right other than Zakah." And he recited this verse: "It is not righteousness that you turn your faces to the East or the West, but righteousness is believing in Allah and the Last Day, and the angels, and the Book, and the prophets, and giving wealth, out of love for Him, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those begging for help, and for freeing slaves; and who establishes prayer and gives Zakah." [Quran 2:177] This is a hadith known from Abu Hamzah Maymun al-Awar al-Kufi, and he was criticized by Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Yahya ibn Ma'in. And those who narrate it among our companions in the commentaries, there is no right in wealth other than Zakah. So, I do not preserve it in its chain of narration. And what I mentioned about its meaning is what I have stated, and Allah knows best.
