10. Zakāh (Prescribed Charity)
[Machine] We used to give Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of every freeman, young or old, slave, one saa' of food, dates, raisins, barley, or wheat.
[Machine] The following passage translates to English as: "From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: There is no charity for the servant except for the charity of breaking the fast."
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: "There is no charity upon a person regarding his horse or his servant, except for the Zakat al-Fitr." This was narrated by Muhammad ibn Sahl ibn Askar, on the authority of Ibn Abi Maryam, who said: "In this hadith, there is no charity for a Muslim concerning his servant or his horse, except for the charity of al-Fitr."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made it obligatory to give zakat al-fitr, which is a saa' of dates or a saa' of barley, for every free person, young or old, and for every slave.
[Machine] It was narrated that the Prophet ﷺ established the obligation of giving the charity of fitrah, which is a sa' of barley or dates, from both the young and the old, the free and the slave. This is what I found in my book from the narration of As-Saghir. Abbas An-Narsi also mentioned it from Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan, and it was narrated by Al-Bukhari in Sahih from Musaddad, from Yahya, who said that Ali narrated it. Muslim also narrated it from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, from Abu Usamah and Abdullah ibn Numair, from Ubaidullah ibn Umar, who said in the hadith: Ali said.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , commanded the giving of Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of every free Muslim, young or old, man or woman, by giving a saa' (measurement unit) of barley or a saa' of dates. The people were to bring it to him in the form of wheat debt or the equivalent.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ obligated the charity of Fitrah or he said Ramadan upon the male and female, free or slave, one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley. The people adhered to it by giving half a Sa' of wheat instead. Ibn 'Umar used to give dates, but the people of Madinah preferred barley, so he gave barley. Ibn 'Umar used to give on behalf of the young and old, to the point that he would give on behalf of the family of Banu Nafi'. It was narrated that Abu 'Amr Al-'Adibi informed us, who was informed by Abu Bakr Al-Isma'ili, who was informed by Abu Ya'la, who was informed by Abu Rabi', who mentioned it with a chain similar to this, except that he said that there was no doubt regarding the charity of Fitrah and he said "from dates" generically. And he added that Abdullah would give it when the ones who would receive it would sit, and they used to sit before the day of Fitrah for a day or two.
[Machine] About his boys who are in the valley of villages and Khaybar
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ obligated Zakat Al-Fitr upon the free, the slave, the male, and the female among those whom you provide for.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ imposed upon every young or old, free or slave, who can afford it, a measurement of barley or a measurement of dates or a measurement of raisins for every person. This is narrated from Abu Abdullah, the Hafiz, who heard it from Abu al-Walid, who narrated from Makkibn Abdan, who heard it from Muhammad bin Yahya, who heard it from Nufayli, who heard it from Hatim bin Ismail, who mentioned it when he was asked about it, and it is transmitted from Ali bin Musa al-Rida, from his father, from his grandfather, from his ancestors, from the Prophet ﷺ.
[Machine] Whoever you have been responsible for providing for, feed them half a saa' of wheat or a saa' of dates. This is obligatory, and the slave is not strong except when he joins with what came before him in strength in what they both gathered in.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered the giving of Zakat al-Fitr, on behalf of the young and the old, the free and the slave, from those whom you provide for.
