[Machine] Ibn Abbas said, "Ubayy recited to the Prophet ﷺ ." Al-Shafi'i said, "I recited to Ismail ibn Qustantin, and he used to say, 'The Quran is a name, not a proper noun. It was not taken from recitation. If it were taken from recitation, then every recitation would be Quran. However, it is a name for the Quran, like the Torah and the Gospel, they are proper nouns for the scripture, while the Quran is not.'"  

وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ «قَرَأَ أُبَيٌّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ» قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَقَرَأْتُ عَلَى إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ قُسْطَنْطِينَ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ «الْقُرَانُ اسْمٌ وَلَيْسَ بِمَهْمُوزٍ وَلَمْ يُؤْخَذْ مِنْ قَرَأْتُ وَلَوْ أُخِذَ مِنْ قَرَأْتُ كَانَ كُلُّ مَا قُرِئَ قُرْآنًا وَلَكِنَّهُ اسْمٌ لِلْقُرَانِ مِثْلُ التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ يُهْمَزُ قَرَأْتُ وَلَا يُهْمَزُ الْقُرَانُ»  

[Machine] An Arab man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Prophet of Allah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "I am not a prophet of Allah, but I am the Messenger of Allah."  

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيءَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَسْتُ بِنَبِيءِ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنِّي نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ»  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, Umar, and the Caliphs did not engage in backbiting. However, backbiting is an innovation that emerged after them. I heard Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Shaybani al-Hafiz saying that he heard Abu Zakariya Yahya ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya saying that he heard Ahmad ibn Hanbal saying: 'I do not narrate the hadith of Musa ibn Ubaydah al-Rabathi and the hadith of Abdur Rahman ibn Ziyad al-Afriqi.'"  

«مَا هَمَزَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَلَا عُمَرُ وَلَا الْخُلَفَاءُ وَإِنَّمَا الْهَمْزُ بِدْعَةٌ ابْتَدَعُوهَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ» سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ يَعْقُوبَ الشَّيْبَانِيَّ الْحَافِظَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زَكَرِيَّا يَحْيَى بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ حَنْبَلٍ يَقُولُ «لَا أَكْتُبُ حَدِيثَ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ الرَّبَذِيِّ وَلَا حَدِيثَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْأَفْرِيقِيِّ»  

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "The Qur'an was revealed with distinction, like the appearance of a bird" [Surah Al-Imran 49]. "Excuses, warnings, and the two shells, and behold, to Him belong creation and command" [Surah Al-A'raf 54], and similar to this in the Qur'an. This is an authentic narration and it was not rejected. No, by God, it is not weak. Al-Awfi is weak and Bukair is not an authority, and this hadith is denounced.  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أُنْزِلَ الْقُرْآنُ بِالتَّفْخِيمِ {كَهَيْئَةِ الطَّيْرِ} [آل عمران 49] عُذْرًا وَنُذْرًا وَالصَّدَفَيْنِ وَ {أَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرُ} [الأعراف 54] وَأَشْبَاهُ هَذَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ «صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» لا والله العوفي على ضعفه وبكار ليس بعمدة والحديث واه منكر  

[Machine] Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to start his recitation with the verses: 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment.'"  

عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُقَطِّعُ قِرَاءَتَهُ {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ} »  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to recite his prayers verse by verse, starting with "Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'alamin" (Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds) from Surah Al-Fatiha (Chapter 1, Verse 2). Then he would pause and recite "Ar-Rahmanir-Rahim" (The Most Merciful, The Ever-Merciful) from Surah Al-Fatiha (Chapter 1, Verse 1). Then he would pause again. Ibn Abi Mulayka said, "Umm Salamah used to recite it as 'Maliki yawmid-din' (The Master of the Day of Judgment)."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْطَعُ قِرَاءَتَهُ آيَةَ آيَةً {الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الفاتحة 2] ثُمَّ يَقِفُ {الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة 1] ثُمَّ يَقِفُ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ «وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ تَقْرَؤُهَا (مَلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ) »  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to recite "The Sovereign of the Day of Recompense".  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ (مَلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ)  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the verse: "Guide us to the Straight Path" [Al-Fatiha 6], with the letter "S" (Saad).  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ {اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ} [الفاتحة 6] بِالصَّادِ  

[Machine] He prayed with the Prophet ﷺ when he said {not the path of those who have received Your anger or those who have gone astray}. He said "Ameen" quietly. The judge said "ghayri" [not] by lowering the sound of the "raa" because in the recitation of the people of Makkah, it is {ghayra} [not].  

أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حِينَ قَالَ {غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ} [الفاتحة 7] قَالَ «آمِينَ» يَخْفِضُ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ قَالَ الْقَاضِي {غَيْرِ} [الفاتحة 7] بِخَفْضِ الرَّاءِ فَإِنَّ فِي قِرَاءَةِ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ {غَيْرَ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ} [الفاتحة 7]  

[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ with a companion of mine but we did not find him. Aisha then fed us dates and porridge. Then, the Prophet ﷺ came, dragging his foot and tying his lower garment. He asked, "Did you feed them anything?" We said, "Yes." He said, "While we were like that, a shepherd came by with a sheep. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Did she give birth?" He said, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What did she deliver?" He replied, "A healthy lamb." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Slaughter a sheep instead of her." Then, he turned to me and said, "Do not think that we slaughtered her only for your sake. We have a hundred sheep, and we do not want them to increase. So, whenever a shepherd is burdened with the sheep, we slaughter a sheep in its place." Ibn Juraij said, "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Do not think' and did not say, 'Do not assume.'" This was narrated by Sufyan Ath-Thawri from Abu Hashim from Asim bin Laqit, but Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.  

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَنَا وَصَاحِبٌ لِي فَلَمْ نَجِدْهُ فَأَطْعَمَتْنَا عَائِشَةُ تَمْرًا وَعَصِيدَةً وَقَالَ فَلَمْ نَلْبَثْ أَنْ جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَتَقَلَّعُ وَيَتَكَفَّأُ قَالَ «أَطَعِمْتُمَا شَيْئًا؟» قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ فَبَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ جَاءَ الرَّاعِي وَعَلَى يَدِهِ سَخْلَةٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَوَلَدَتْ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «مَاذَا؟» قَالَ بَهْمَةٌ قَالَ «اذْبَحْ مَكَانَهَا شَاةً» ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ «لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ أَنَّا إِنَّمَا ذَبَحْنَاهَا مِنْ أَجَلِكَ لَنَا غَنَمٌ مِائَةٌ لَا نُحِبُّ أَنْ تَزِيدَ فَإِذَا حَمَلَ الرَّاعِي ذَبَحْنَا مَكَانَهَا شَاةً» قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ» وَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَا يَحْسَبَنَّ رَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ بِهَذِهِ الرِّوَايَةِ سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not assume (or think) but he did not say, 'do not assume.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ» وَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَا يَحْسَبَنَّ  

[Machine] "From no soul does it accept any intercession, and no compensation can be taken from it" [2:48]. Ubayy ibn Ka'b said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited to me: "No soul will be recompensed for any other, nor will intercession be accepted from it." [2:48] with تَاءْ (ta) and "no compensation can be taken from it" [2:48] with يَاء (ya).  

عَنْ نَفْسٍ شَيْئًا} [البقرة 48] بِالتَّاءِ (وَلَا تُقْبَلُ مِنْهَا شَفَاعَةٌ وَلَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنْهَا عَدْلٌ) قَالَ أُبَيٌّ أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ {لَا تَجْزِي نَفْسٌ عَنْ نَفْسٍ شَيْئًا} [البقرة 48] بِالتَّاءِ (وَلَا تُقْبَلُ مِنْهَا شَفَاعَةٌ) بِالتَّاءِ {وَلَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنْهَا عَدْلٌ} [البقرة 48] بِالْيَاءِ  

"We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: "O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord! Verily the earthquake of the hour is a terrible thing..." up to His saying: but Allah's torment is severe (21:1 & 2)." When his Companions heard that, they hastened to catch up with him, since they knew that he had something to say. He ﷺ said: 'Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam will be called. His Lord will call him and say: O Adam, send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Fire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Fire and one for Paradise. So the people despaired as if they would not smile again. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the state of his Companions, he said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Ya'juj and Ma'juj, and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis.'" He said: "So some of the people's grief went away, and he ﷺ said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! Among mankind, you are but like the mole on the flank of a camel, or a mark on the foreleg of a beast.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3169)   

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي مَسِيرٍ وَقَدْ تَفَاوَتَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ فِي السَّيْرِ فَرَفَعَ بِهَاتَيْنِ الْآيَتَيْنِ صَوْتَهُ {يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّ زَلْزَلَةَ السَّاعَةِ شَيْءٌ عَظِيمٌ يَوْمَ تَرَوْنَهَا تَذْهَلُ كُلُّ مُرْضِعَةٍ عَمَّا أَرْضَعَتْ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا وَتَرَى النَّاسَ سُكَارَى وَمَا هُمْ بِسُكَارَى وَلَكِنَّ عَذَابَ اللَّهِ شَدِيدٌ} [الحج 2] فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ ذَلِكَ أَصْحَابُهُ حَثُّوا الْمَطِيَّ وَعَرَفُوا أَنَّهُ عِنْدَهُ قَوْلٌ يَقُولُهُ فَقَالَ «أَتَدْرُونَ أَيَّ يَوْمٍ ذَاكُمْ؟» قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ يَوْمٌ يُنَادِي آدَمُ رَبَّهُ فَيَقُولُ يَا آدَمُ ابْعَثْ بَعْثَ النَّارِ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ وَمَا بَعْثُ النَّارِ؟ قَالَ مِنْ كُلِّ أَلْفٍ تِسْعُ مِائَةٍ وَتِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ فِي النَّارِ وَوَاحِدٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَأَبْلَسَ أَصْحَابُهُ فَمَا أَوْضَحُوا بِضَاحِكَةٍ فَلَمَّا رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الَّذِي بِأَصْحَابِهِ قَالَ «اعْلَمُوا وَبَشِّرُوا فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَمَعَ خَلِيقَتَيْنِ مَا كَانَتَا مَعَ شَيْءٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا كَثَّرَتَاهُ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ وَمَنْ هَلَكَ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ وَبَنِي إِبْلِيسَ» فَسُرِّيَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ بَعْضُ الَّذِي يَجِدُونَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اعْلَمُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ مَا أَنْتُمْ فِي النَّاسِ إِلَّا كَالشَّامَةِ فِي جَنْبِ الْبَعِيرِ أَوْ كَالرَّقْمَةِ فِي ذِرَاعِ الدَّابَّةِ» حَدِيثُ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ فَإِنَّ أَكْثَرَ أَئِمَّتِنَا مِنَ الْمُتَقَدِّمِينَ عَلَى أَنَّ الْحَسَنَ قَدْ سَمِعَ مِنَ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ فَأَمَّا إِذَا اخْتَلَفَ هِشَامٌ وَالْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ فَالْقَوْلُ قَوْلُ هِشَامٍ الحكم بن عبد الملك واه  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited {How can we give life to these bones} [Al-Baqarah 259] with a "Za" sound.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ {كَيْفَ نُنْشِزُهَا} [البقرة 259] بِالزَّايِ  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made me read the verse "It is I who give (all) sustenance, Lord of power, steadfast (for ever). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3993)   

أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي أَنَا الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

"A man from Banu Sulaim who had some sheep with him, passed by some of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He gave Salam to them and they said: 'He did not give Salam except to protect himself.' So they attacked him, killed him, and took his sheep. They went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with them, and Allah, Most High, revealed: O you who believe! When you go in the cause of Allah, verify and say not to anyone who greets you: "You are not a believer (4:94)." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3030)   

مَرَّ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ عَلَى نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَعَهُ غَنَمٌ لَهُ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا مَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا لِيَتَعَوَّذَ مِنْكُمْ فَعَمَدُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَتَلُوهُ وَأَخَذُوا غَنَمَهُ فَأَتَوْا بِهَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا} [النساء 94] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {كَذَلِكَ كُنْتُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَبَيَّنُوا} [النساء 94]  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, "And it is not for a prophet to be dishonest" [Quran 3:161] with the vowel kasrah on the letter ya.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ {وَمَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَغُلَّ} [آل عمران 161] بِفَتْحِ الْيَاءِ  

[Machine] The translation of the Arabic phrase "وَقَالَ أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «فَرُهُنٌ مَقْبُوضَةٌ بِغَيْرِ أَلِفٍ»" into English is: "And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Fornication is held with anything other than marriage.'"  

وَقَالَ أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «فَرُهُنٌ مَقْبُوضَةٌ بِغَيْرِ أَلِفٍ»  

[Machine] I asked Aisha, the mother of the believers, how the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, used to recite this verse: "And those who give what they give" [Surah Al-Mu'minun 60]. She asked me, which one of them do you love more? I said, "I love one of them more than the red camels." She asked, which one? I said, "Those who give what they give." She said, "This is how I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, recite it."  

قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ هَذَا الْحَرْفَ {وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوْا} [المؤمنون 60] قَالَتْ أَيُّهُمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ؟ قُلْتُ أَحَدُهُمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حُمْرِ النَّعَمِ قَالَتْ أَيُّهُمَا؟ قُلْتُ {الَّذِينَ يُؤْتَوْنَ مَا أَتَوْا} قَالَتْ «هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَؤُهَا»  

[Machine] She heard the Prophet ﷺ reciting {Blessed be the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor} [Al-Waqi'ah 89].  

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ} [الواقعة 89]  

[Machine] I heard Abu Huraira reciting this verse: "Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing." [Surah An-Nisa 4:58]  

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقْرَأُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تُؤَدُّوا الْأَمَانَاتِ إِلَى أَهْلِهَا وَإِذَا حَكَمْتُمْ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ أَنْ تَحْكُمُوا بِالْعَدْلِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ نِعِمَّا يَعِظُكُمْ بِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا} [النساء 58]  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent to me, saying, "Take your clothes and arms and come to me." So I took my clothes and arms and went to him. I found him sitting, performing ablution. I looked at him intently and then bowed my head. He said, "O Amr, I want to send you on an army that Allah will enrich and grant you security, and I desire for you a righteous desire for wealth." So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I did not embrace Islam for the sake of wealth, but rather I embraced it out of a desire for Islam and to be with you." He said, "O Amr, how excellent is righteous wealth for the righteous person." It means by opening the "noon" sound and shortening the "ayn." This is a sound hadith according to the conditions of Muslim through the narration of Musa bin Ali bin Rabah and according to the conditions of Bukhari through the narration of Abu Salih. Authentic.  

بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَنْ خُذْ عَلَيْكَ ثِيَابَكَ وَسِلَاحَكَ ثُمَّ ائْتِنِي» فَأَخَذْتُ عَلَيَّ ثِيَابِي وَسِلَاحِي ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ قَاعِدًا يَتَوَضَّأُ فَصَعَّدَ فِيَّ النَّظَرَ ثُمَّ طَأْطَأَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا عَمْرُو إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَبْعَثَكَ عَلَى جَيْشٍ يُغْنِمْكَ اللَّهُ وَيُسَلِّمْكَ وَأَرْغَبُ لَكَ مِنَ الْمَالِ رَغْبَةً صَالِحَةً» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَمْ أُسْلِمْ لِلْمَالِ إِنَّمَا أَسْلَمْتُ رَغْبَةً فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَأَنْ أَكُونَ مَعَكَ قَالَ «يَا عَمْرُو نِعِمَّا بِالْمَالِ الصَّالِحِ لِلرَّجُلِ الصَّالِحِ» يَعْنِي بِفَتْحِ النُّونِ وَكَسْرِ الْعَيْنِ «حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ لِرِوَايَةِ مُوسَى بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ وَعَلَى شَرْطِ الْبُخَارِيِّ لِأَبِي صَالِحٍ» صحيح  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to recite the following in Arabic as follows:

"And We ordained for them therein a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose" (Al-Ma'idah 5:45) in the nominative case, "and a tooth for a tooth" (Al-Ma'idah 5:45) in the accusative case.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ {وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَا أَنَّ النَّفْسَ بِالنَّفْسِ} [المائدة 45] بِالنَّصْبِ {وَالْعَيْنُ بِالْعَيْنِ} [المائدة 45] بِالرَّفْعِ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ recited, "And We ordained for them in that (Torah): A life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds is legal retribution." (Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:45) "Muhammad bin Mu'awiyah is not among the conditions in this book."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {أَنَّ النَّفْسَ بِالنَّفْسِ وَالْعَيْنَ بِالْعَيْنِ وَالْأَنْفَ بِالْأَنْفِ وَالْأُذُنَ بِالْأُذُنِ وَالسِّنَّ بِالسِّنِّ وَالْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ} [المائدة 45] «مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ لَيْسَ مِنْ شَرْطِ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ»  

[Machine] According to the saying of Allah, exalted be He, "And We tested you with trials." [Quran 20:40] in a hadith that the Prophet ﷺ conveyed, "Two men among those who feared (Allah) said." [Quran 5:23] with the raising of the letter "yaa".  

عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى {وَفَتَنَّاكَ فُتُونًا} [طه 40] فِي حَدِيثٍ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ {قَالَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ} [المائدة 23] بِرَفْعِ الْيَاءِ  

[Machine] "When the Surah (chapter) of As-Sajdah (Prostration) was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Every verse in it is found in the scriptures of Ibrahim (Abraham) and Musa (Moses).' When the Surah (chapter) of An-Najm (The Star) was revealed, and by the star when it descends, he reached the verse, 'And Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) the truth of the vision. Then he (Jibril) revealed to him (Muhammad): And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said to his father and his people: Verily, I am innocent of what you worship, except Him (i.e., Allah Alone), Who did create me; and verily, He will guide me.' (The Star 53:37), which weighed him down. And he said, 'I convey (the message).' 'That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another. (The Star 53:38) Until His saying, 'This is a warner of the warners of old.' (The Star 53:56)"  

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كُلُّهَا فِي صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى» فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَى فَبَلَغَ {وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّى} [النجم 37] ثَقَّلَهُ وَقَالَ وَفَّى {أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى} [النجم 38] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {هَذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الْأُولَى} [النجم 56]  

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ reciting, "Indeed, My verses have come to you, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers." (Surah Az-Zumar 59)  

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {بَلَى قَدْ جَاءَتْكَ آيَاتِي فَكَذَّبْتَ بِهَا وَاسْتَكْبَرْتَ وَكُنْتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ} [الزمر 59]  

[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ recited, 'Among those who are deserving of the guardianship' [Al-Ma'idah 107]."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {مِنَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأُوْلَيَانَ} [المائدة 107]  

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite the verse 'In a fortified city' [Quran 18:86]"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ {فِي عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ} [الكهف 86]  

[Machine] "Abu Al-Aswad Al-Dili and Jubair bin Hayyah Al-Thaqafi were with Ibn Ziyad. They mentioned this verse, 'Indeed, there has been a division among you' (Quran, Al-An'am 94), until they put their swords down. Aslam bin Zur'ah said, 'I heard Abu Musa reciting this verse, 'Indeed, there has been a division among you' (Quran, Al-An'am 94). One of them said, 'Let the first person who enters between us be the mediator.' Yahya bin Yamar entered and they asked him. Yahya said, 'Indeed, there has been a division among you, which needs to be resolved.' Yahya also said, 'Abu Musa is not deceitful, and I do not accuse him of such.'"  

كَانَ عِنْدَ ابْنِ زِيَادٍ أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ الدِّيلِيِّ وَجُبَيْرُ بْنُ حَيَّةَ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ فَذَكَرُوا هَذَا الْحَرْفَ {لَقَدْ تَقَطَّعَ بَيْنَكُمْ} [الأنعام 94] حَتَّى وَضَعُوا الْأَخْطَارَ فَقَالَ أَسْلَمُ بْنُ زُرْعَةَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مُوسَى يَقْرَأُ {لَقَدْ تَقَطَّعَ بَيْنَكُمْ} [الأنعام 94] فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْنَا فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْمَرَ فَسَأَلُوهُ فَقَالَ يَحْيَى لَقَدْ تَقَطَّعُ بَيْنَكُمْ رَفْعًا فَقَالَ يَحْيَى إِنَّ أَبَا مُوسَى لَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْغَرَرِ وَلَا أَتَّهِمُهُ  

[Machine] "From the saying of the disciples, 'Can your Lord do it?' [Quran 5:112], or 'Can your Lord do it?' So he said, 'Read to me, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' Can you do it with the letter 'ta'?"  

عَنْ قَوْلِ الْحَوَارِيِّينَ {هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ} [المائدة 112] أَوْ هَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ رَبَّكَ؟ فَقَالَ «أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ» هَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ «بِالتَّاءِ»  

The Prophet ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection Abraham will meet his father Azar whose face will be dark and covered with dust.(The Prophet ﷺ Abraham will say to him): 'Didn't I tell you not to disobey me?' His father will reply: 'Today I will not disobey you.' 'Abraham will say: 'O Lord! You promised me not to disgrace me on the Day of Resurrection; and what will be more disgraceful to me than cursing and dishonoring my father?' Then Allah will say (to him):' 'I have forbidden Paradise for the disbelievers." Then he will be addressed, 'O Abraham! Look! What is underneath your feet?' He will look and there he will see a Dhabh (an animal,) blood-stained, which will be caught by the legs and thrown in the (Hell) Fire." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3350)  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَلْقَى إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَبَاهُ آزَرَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَعَلَى وَجْهِ آزَرَ قَتَرَةٌ وَغَبَرَةٌ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكَ لَا تَعْصِنِي؟ فَيَقُولُ أَبُوهُ فَالْيَوْمَ لَا أَعْصِيكَ فَيَقُولُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّكَ وَعَدْتَنِي أَنْ لَا تُخْزِيَنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ فَأَيُّ خِزْيٍ أَخْزَى مِنْ أَبِي الْأَبْعَدِ؟ فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ إِنِّي حَرَّمْتُ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ مَا تَحْتَ رِجْلَيْكَ فَيَنْظُرُ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِذِبْحٍ مُتَلَطِّخٌ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِقَوَائِمِهِ فَيُلْقَى فِي النَّارِ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ read to me "[And let them say: You have studied]" [Al-An'am 105], meaning with the emphasis on the letter "seen" and the case marker "ta".  

أَقْرَأَنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ {وَلِيَقُولُوا دَرَسْتَ} [الأنعام 105] يَعْنِي بِجَزْمِ السِّينِ وَنَصْبِ التَّاءِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drew a line and drew lines to the right and left of that line. Then he said, "This is the straight path of your Lord, and these are the other paths, upon each of which there is a devil inviting to it." Then he recited, "And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way." [Surah Al-An'am 153]  

خَطَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَطًّا وَخَطَّ عَنْ يَمِينِ ذَلِكَ الْخَطِّ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ خَطًّا ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَذَا صِرَاطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا وَهَذِهِ السُّبُلُ عَلَى كُلِّ سَبِيلٍ مِنْهَا شَيْطَانٌ يَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {وَأَنَّ هَذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ} [الأنعام 153]  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting "The doors of heaven will not be opened for them" [Surah Al-A'raf, verse 40], abbreviated.  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {لَا تُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ} [الأعراف 40] مُخَفَّفًا  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ read "Dakka" (a portion) in a softened voice and did not elongate it.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {دَكًّا} [الأعراف 143] مُنَوَّنَةً وَلَمْ يَمُدَّهُ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ recited: "Now Allah has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you there is weakness." [Surah At-Tawbah 66] and he raised.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {الْآنَ خَفَّفَ اللَّهُ عَنْكُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ ضَعْفًا} [الأنفال 66] رَفَعَ  

[Machine] The translation of the given text into English is: "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ recited the verse, 'That he may have captives from among them' (Quran 8:67), authentic, authentic."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {أَنْ تَكُونَ لَهُ أَسْرَى} صَحِيحٌصحيح  

[Machine] "He heard Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri saying: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a sermon while he was on the pulpit and said, 'By the One in whose Hand is my soul,' three times, then he remained silent. Each one of us, men, started to cry sadly on the right side of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then he said, 'There is no servant who performs the five daily prayers, fasts during Ramadan, and avoids major sins, except that the gates of Paradise will be opened for him on the Day of Resurrection, and they will be wide open.' Then he recited (interpretation of the meaning): 'If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins...' (Quran 4:31)."  

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ يَقُولَانِ خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ فَأَكَبَّ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنَّا يَبْكِي حَزِينًا لِيَمِينِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَأْتِي بِالصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ وَيَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ وَيَجْتَنِبُ الْكَبَائِرَ السَّبْعَ إِلَّا فُتِحَتْ لَهُ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى أَنَّهَا لَتَصْطَفِقُ» ثُمَّ تَلَا {إِنْ تَجْتَنِبُوا كَبَائِرَ مَا تُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ نُكَفِّرْ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ} [النساء 31]  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The people of two different religions do not inherit from each other, and a Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever, nor does a disbeliever inherit from a Muslim." Then he recited the verse, "And those who disbelieve are allies of one another. If you do not do so, there will be fitnah on earth and great corruption" (Quran 8: 73) with a ya.  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَتَوَارَثُ أَهْلُ مِلَّتَيْنِ وَلَا يَرِثُ مُسْلِمٌ كَافِرًا وَلَا كَافِرٌ مُسْلِمًا» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ إِلَّا تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُنْ فِتْنَةٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَفَسَادٌ كَبِيرٌ} [الأنفال 73] بِالْيَاءِ  

[Machine] Narrated by Ibn Abbas and attributed to the Prophet ﷺ, he read out [Surah At-Tawbah 128]: "There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves." This means the greatest among you in rank. Adh-Dhahabi did not mention it in his summary.  

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَرْفَعُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {لَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ} [التوبة 128] يَعْنِي مِنْ أَعْظَمِكُمْ قَدْرًاسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting: "Say, 'In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy - in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate.'" [Yunus: 58]  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ {قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذَلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ} [يونس 58]  

[Machine] The translation of the given Arabic text is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite, 'Verily, he has done something wrong' with a weak chain of narration."  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ (إِنَّهُ عَمِلَ غَيْرَ صَالِحٍ) إسناده مظلم  

[Machine] The Prophet (pbuh) read, "So ask the women who cut their hands, what happened to them?" [Surah Yusuf 50]. He said, "If they had sent a message to me, I would have hurried to respond, and I wouldn't have sought an excuse."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ {فَاسْأَلْهُ مَا بَالُ النِّسْوَةِ اللَّاتِي قَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ} [يوسف 50] قَالَ «لَوْ بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ لَأَسْرَعْتُ الْإِجَابَةَ وَمَا ابْتَغَيْتُ الْعُذْرَ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to Ali, "O Ali, people are like various trees, while you and I are from one tree." Then the Messenger of Allah recited, "And gardens of grapevines and crops and date-palms growing side by side and not side by side, all irrigated with the same water."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِعَلِيٍّ «يَا عَلِيُّ النَّاسُ مِنْ شَجَرٍ شَتَّى وَأَنَا وَأَنْتَ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ (وَجَنَّاتٌ مِنْ أَعْنَابٍ وَزَرْعٌ وَنَخِيلٌ صِنْوَانٌ وَغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍ تُسْقَى بِمَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ)  

[Machine] About the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , it is narrated that he said, "And we prefer some foods over others in consumption." [Surah Ar-Ra'd: 4] with the letter "nun."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ {وَنُفَضِّلُ بَعْضَهَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ فِي الْأُكُلِ} [الرعد 4] بِالنُّونِ  

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Allah erases whatever He wills and establishes what He wills." [Surah Ar-Ra'd 13:39], abbreviated.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ {يَمْحُو اللَّهُ مَا يَشَاءُ وَيُثْبِتُ} [الرعد 39] مُخَفَّفَةً  

[Machine] I heard Sa'd reading "We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten." So I said, "Indeed, Sa'id recites it as 'or cause us to forget it'." He said, "Indeed, the Quran was not revealed to be difficult upon Musayyib or his son." I said, "And it is my understanding that he recited 'We will make you recite, so do not forget' and 'Remember your Lord when you forget'."  

سَمِعْتُ سَعْدًا يَقْرَأُ «مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نَنْسَاهَا» قَالَ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ سَعِيدًا يَقْرَؤُهَا {أَوْ نُنْسِهَا} [البقرة 106] قَالَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ عَلَى الْمُسَيِّبِ وَلَا عَلَى ابْنِهِ قَالَ وَحِفْظِي أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ {سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسَى} {وَاذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ} [الكهف 24]  

[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'The Quran was revealed with the embellishment, likening it to the form of a bird' (Surah Al-Imran, 49), 'As an excuse or as a warning' (Surah Al-Mursilat, 6), and 'And the two shells' (Surah Al-A'raf, 54), 'Indeed, to Him belongs the creation and the command' (Surah Al-A'raf, 54), and its similitudes.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أُنْزِلَ الْقُرْآنُ بِالتَّفْخِيمِ {كَهَيْئَةِ الطَّيْرِ} [آل عمران 49] {عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا} [المرسلات 6] وَالصَّدَفَيْنِ {أَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرُ} [الأعراف 54] وَأَشْبَاهُهَا  

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ : "When the people of the Hellfire gather in the Hellfire, along with them are some people from the Muslims. They will say, 'What benefit did your Islam bring you while you ended up with us in the Hellfire?' They will reply, 'We had sins for which we were punished.' Allah heard what they said and commanded that those who belong to the Qibla (Muslims) be taken out of the Hellfire. At that point, the disbelievers say, 'If only we were Muslims and were also taken out as they were.' Then the Prophet ﷺ recited the verse, 'Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the clear Book. Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers' [Quran 15:2-3]."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ أَهْلُ النَّارِ فِي النَّارِ وَمَعَهُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقِبْلَةِ مَنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا مَا أَغْنَى عَنْكُمْ إِسْلَامُكُمْ وَقَدْ صِرْتُمْ مَعَنَا فِي النَّارِ؟ قَالُوا كَانَتْ لَنَا ذُنُوبٌ فَأُخِذْنَا بِهَا فَسَمِعَ اللَّهُ مَا قَالُوا قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِمَنْ كَانَ فِي النَّارِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقِبْلَةِ فَأُخْرِجُوا فَيَقُولُ الْكُفَّارُ يَا لَيْتَنَا كُنَّا مُسْلِمَيْنِ فَنُخْرَجُ كَمَا أُخْرِجُوا قَالَ وَقَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ {الر تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْآنٍ مُبِينٍ رُبَّمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمَيْنَ} [الحجر 2] مُثَقَّلَةً
