٥٨۔ كِتَابُ السِّيَرِ

58.20 [Machine] A Muslim anticipates the killing of his father in war, and even if he kills him, there is no harm in it.

[Machine] When Talha ibn al-Bara'ah met the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, he said, "O Prophet of Allah, command me to do something that I love and that I will not disobey." The Prophet ﷺ was amazed by this request, as Talha was still a young boy at the time. The Prophet ﷺ then told him, "In that case, kill your father." Talha went out, prepared to carry out this command, but the Prophet ﷺ called him back and said, "I have not been sent to sever family ties."

[Machine] Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah appointed Abu Ubaydah as the idol for Abu Ubaydah, but Abu Ubaydah refused. When al-Jarrah persisted, Abu Ubaydah sought him out and killed him. Allah revealed this verse about him when he killed his father: "You will not find anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons." [Al-Mujadalah 22] until the end. This is the end of the excerpt.

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I encountered the enemy and found my father among them. I heard from him a terrible statement, and I could not bear it, so I stabbed him with a spear or killed him." The Prophet ﷺ remained silent about it. Then another person came and said, "I encountered my father, but I left him and preferred someone else to take care of him." The Prophet ﷺ remained silent about him as well. This is a good message.
