The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave us the news of the death of Negus, the ruler of Abyssinia, on the day when he died, and he said (to us): Beg pardon for your brother. Ibn Shihab said that Sa'id b. Musayyib had told that Abu Huraira had narrated to him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drew them up in a row in a place of prayer, and offered prayer and recited four takbirs for him. (Using translation from Muslim 951b)

[Machine] Someone informed me that they witnessed the Prophet ﷺ approaching a forsaken grave, so he arranged them in rows and then he stepped forward and performed the funeral prayer and raised his voice while saying the takbeer four times. Sulaiman said: so I said, "O Abu Amr, who informed you of this?" He said, "Ibn Abbas."
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ prayed on a grave and performed four takbirs upon it.

[Machine] I saw him and he recited the funeral prayer for four, then he stood for an hour, meaning that he was supplicating. Then he said, "Do you see me raising my hands four times?" They said, "No." He said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his hands four times." And it was also narrated by Ibrahim Al-Hajari from Ibn Abi Awfa with the same meaning, except that he said, "They said, 'We have seen that.'" He said, "I would not have done so if the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not do it. He used to raise his hands four times, then he would stay however long Allah willed." Abu Abdullah Al-Hafith narrated to us, Abu Al-Abbas reported to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq reported, Ja'far ibn Awn reported, Ibrahim Al-Hajari mentioned it in a story he mentioned from Ibn Abi Awfa.
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , the angels prayed upon Adam and glorified him four times. They said, "This is your tradition, O children of Adam." It is also reported by Uthman ibn Sa'd with a continuous chain of narration from Ubayy ibn Ka'b.
