9. Funerals
[Machine] And he said in the narration, so he recited the opening chapter of the book and a chapter, and the mention of the chapter in it is not preserved.
I offered the funeral prayer behind Ibn ʿAbbas and he recited Al-Fatiha and said, "You should know that it (i.e. recitation of Al-Fatiha) is the tradition of the Prophet ﷺ Muhammad. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1335)
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ recited Surah Al-Fatiha after the first takbeer and then recited four takbeers for the deceased."
[Machine] He was informed by a man from the companions of the Prophet that the sunnah (practice) in the funeral prayer is for the Imam to start by saying takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) loudly, then quietly recite Surat Al-Fatiha after the first takbeer, silently within himself. Then he should send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , and make a sincere supplication for the deceased during the remaining takbeers. He should not recite anything else during them. Finally, he should silently say tasleem (saying Assalamu Alaykum) within himself. 6960 He said, and Mutarrif ibn Mazen narrated from Ma'mar, who narrated from Al-Zuhri, who said: Muhammad Al-Fihri narrated to me from Dahhak ibn Qays that he said the same as Abu Umamah and so on.
[Machine] He heard the one behind him, and then he continued his takbeer until there was one takbeer left. He then bore witness to the prayer and made the final takbeer, then he departed. We were informed by Ibn Mas'ood and Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'Aas about the recitation of Al-Fatiha in the funeral prayer.
