9. Funerals
٩۔ كِتَابُ الْجَنَائِزِ
The Prophet ﷺ said: When one of you dies, and he possesses something, he should be shrouded in the garment of the Yemeni stuff. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3150)
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا تُوُفِّيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَوَجَدَ شَيْئًا فَلْيُكَفَّنْ فِي ثَوْبِ حِبَرَةٍ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best shroud is the one made of hulla fabric, and the best sacrifice is a ram with horns." The Sheikh said, "Hulla is commonly understood to refer to two red garments." There are narrations stating that the Prophet ﷺ was shrouded in white clothes, and that he preferred white. And with Allah is the success.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ خَيْرُ الْكَفَنِ الْحُلَّةُ وَخَيْرُ الْأُضْحِيَّةِ الْكَبْشُ الْأَقْرَنُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَالْحُلَّةُ هِيَ ثَوْبَانِ أَحْمَرَانِ غَالِبًا وَالْأَحَادِيثُ فِي أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كُفِّنَ فِي ثِيَابٍ بِيضٍ وَأَنَّهُ اسْتَحَبَّ الْبَيَاضَ أَصَحُّ وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقُ
