9. Funerals
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon one day and mentioned a man among his companions who had passed away, so he was washed and shrouded in a simple shroud. He was buried at night, which displeased the Prophet ﷺ who insisted that the deceased be buried during the day so that he may be prayed upon, unless they were compelled to do otherwise. The Prophet ﷺ also said that when one of you shrouds his brother, he should do so properly.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ missed a black woman who used to collect scraps and firewood from the mosque. He asked, "Where is so-and-so?" They replied, "She has passed away." He said, "Why didn't you inform me?" They said, "She passed away at night and we disliked waking you up." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to her grave, prayed for her and said, "When anyone among the Muslims dies, do not prevent me from being informed."
