9. Funerals
[Machine] Qais Abu Amarah, the servant of Soudah bint Saad, the servant of Bani Sa'idah from the Ansar, narrated from Abdullah bin Abi Bakr bin Muhammad bin Amr bin Hazm Al Ansari, from his father, from his grandfather, that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever visits a sick person, he will remain in the mercy (of Allah) until he sits with him, and when he sits with him, he will plunge into it, and when he gets up, he will continue to be immersed in it until he returns to where he came from. And whoever consoles his Muslim brother in a calamity, Allah will clothe him with noble attire on the Day of Resurrection."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever consoles a bereaved person, he will have a reward equal to his (the bereaved person's) reward." This was specifically attributed to Ali ibn Asim, although it has also been narrated from others. And Allah knows best.
[Machine] "His father recited the following hadith in a story about a man who had young sons. They used to come to the Prophet ﷺ and one of his sons died. The man was so sad that he did not attend the gathering. When the Prophet ﷺ met him, he asked him about his son, and the man informed him that he had passed away. The Prophet ﷺ then consoled him, saying, 'O so-and-so, which one would you prefer: to have him with you throughout your entire life or that whenever you enter a gate of paradise, you find him waiting for you and opening it for you?' The man replied, 'The Prophet of Allah, I would prefer him to precede me to the gates of paradise.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Then that shall be for you.' At that moment, a man from the Ansar stood up and asked the Prophet ﷺ , 'O Prophet of Allah, may I be sacrificed for you! Is this specific to him or is it for anyone who loses a child among the Muslims?' The Prophet ﷺ replied, 'No, rather it is for anyone who loses a child among the Muslims. It will be as if that child is for him.'"
