9. Funerals
٩۔ كِتَابُ الْجَنَائِزِ
[Machine] Nine funerals of men and women were arranged, with the men positioned behind the imam and the women positioned behind the qibla. They were all lined up in one row. The funeral of Umm Kulthum bint Ali, the wife of Umar ibn Al-Khattab, was also arranged, along with her son Zaid ibn Umar. The imam at that time was Said ibn Al-As, and among the people were Ibn Abbas, Abu Huraira, Abu Said, and Abu Qatada. Then a young boy was placed behind the imam. A man objected to this, so I looked to Ibn Abbas, Abu Huraira, Abu Said, and Abu Qatada. I asked, "What is this?" They said, "It is the Sunnah, the wording of the Hadith of Abu Abdullah." And it was narrated by Abu Zakariya that Ibn Umar prayed on all nine funerals and said about Umm Kulthum and her son, "They were all buried together, and the rest were the same."

[Machine] In the righteous people are Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn, Abu Huraira, Ibn Umar, and approximately eighty companions of Muhammad ﷺ . Al-Sha'bi narrated about the method of their narration and mentioned that the Imam was Ibn Umar, without mentioning the question. He said that Ibn Hanafiyyah, Al-Husayn, Ibn Abbas, and in another narration Abdullah bin Ja'far were his successors. We were also narrated from Uthman bin Affan, Ali bin Abi Talib, and Wathilah bin Al-Asqa all in consensus.

[Machine] That Wahilah bin al-Asqa' used to pray over the graves of men and women who died from the plague in Sham. The men would be behind him and the women would be behind the qiblah (direction of prayer), and he would position their heads towards the knees of the men.
