9. Funerals
[Machine] We attended the funeral of Maymuna, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , with Ibn Abbas in Sarif. Ibn Abbas said, "This is Maymuna, when you lift her coffin, do not shake it or move it forcefully, and be gentle. For the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had nine wives, and he would distribute his time among eight of them and not the other one." They both narrated this in Sahih from the hadith of Ibn Juraij.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ passed by a funeral procession, and he was hurrying while it was being carried with difficulty. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Strive to walk calmly during your funerals." It has been narrated from Abu Musa that he advised, saying, "When you carry my funeral, hasten with me in walking." This indicates that what we have been narrated regarding the disapproval of excessive haste is intended here, if it is confirmed that excessive haste is disliked.
