23.2 [Machine] Explanation of Surah Al-Baqarah
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out with a staff, and there was a date palm branch hanging in the mosque, and a branch from it stabbed in his side. He said, "What harm can there be for the owner of this branch if he were to give in charity something better than this? Indeed, the owner of this branch will eat from it on the Day of Resurrection." Then he said, "By Allah, he will leave it fallen and humiliated for forty years for the birds and animals to eat from it." Then he said, "Do you know what the birds and animals are?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "They are birds and animals."
Bara bin Azib said concerning the Verse: “And of that which We have priduced from the earth for you, and don not aim at that which is bad to spend from it. ” [Al-Baqarah 2:267] “This was revealed concerning the Ansar. At the time of the new date-palm harvest, they would take a bunch of dates that were beginning to ripen and hang it on a rope between two of the pillars in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the poor emigrants would eat from it.” One of them deliberately mixed a bunch containing rotten and shriveled dates, and thought this was permissible because of the large number of dates that had been put there. So the following was revealed about the one who did that: '… and do not aim at that which is bad to spend from it'. Meaning do not seek out the rotten and shriveled dates to give in charity: '…(thought) you would not accept it save if you close your eyes and tolerate therein.' Meaning, if you were given this as a gift you would only accept it because you felt embarrassed, and you would get angry that he had sent something of which you have no need. And know that Allah has no need of your charity.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1822)
[Machine] "To submit to their lineages while they are polytheists, so the verse was revealed: 'It is not for you to guide them, but Allah guides whom He wills' [Quran 2:272] until He revealed: 'And you are not responsible for their guidance' [Quran 2:272]. He granted them permission."

[Machine] Indeed, the debt with a specific term that Allah has set in the Book and allowed is called "Salaf". Allah, the Almighty, says: "O you who have believed, when you contract a debt for a specified term, write it down." [Al-Baqarah 282]
[Machine] Allah Almighty said: "And call as witnesses two witnesses from among your men. And if there are not two men [available], then a man and two women from those whom you accept as witnesses - so that if one of the women errs, then the other can remind her. And let not the witnesses refuse when they are called upon. And do not be [too] weary to write it, whether it is small or large, for its [specified] term. That is more just in the sight of Allah and stronger as evidence and more likely to prevent doubt between you, except when it is an immediate transaction which you conduct among yourselves. For then there is no blame upon you if you do not write it. And take witnesses when you conclude a contract. Let no scribe be harmed or any witness. For if you do so, indeed, it is [grave] disobedience in you. And fear Allah. And Allah teaches you. And Allah is Knowing of all things." (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:282)
And they are not those whom We accept. (Surah Al-Qasas, 28:25)
He said, "So I sent to Ibn Zubayr to ask him, and he said, 'By the free will [of Allah].' When they were asked to testify, he said, 'I have not seen any judicial ruling except in accordance with what Ibn Zubayr said.'"
[Machine] "When this verse was revealed, 'If you disclose what is in your hearts or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it,' (2:284) it became difficult for them. They felt overwhelmed by the weight of it, so the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said to them, 'Say, "We hear and we obey."' Then Allah instilled faith in their hearts and they said, 'We hear and we obey.' Then Allah, the Almighty said, 'Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear...' (2:286) until the statement, 'or we have made a mistake.' (2:286) He said, 'I have done [what is required] until the end of Al-Baqarah.'"
[Machine] May Allah have mercy on Abu Abdullah, the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ indeed did something when this verse was revealed, and then it was abrogated by the verse that followed it: "It (soul) will have what it has earned, and it will bear what it has caused." (Surah Al-Baqarah, 286).
[Machine] "When this verse was revealed to the Prophet, peace be upon him, {The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord} [Al-Baqarah 285], the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 'And he is more deserving to believe.'"
