[Machine] "They were granted permission to maintain their tribal connections, even though they were polytheists. Thus, the verse was revealed: 'It is not upon you to guide them.' (Quran 2:272) until the verse was revealed: 'Whatever you spend of good, indeed Allah is Knowing of it.' (Quran 2:273) Then, permission was granted to them." This was explained by Al-Dhahabi in summary.  

أَنْ يُرَخِّصُوا لِأَنْسَابِهِمْ وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ فَنَزَلَتْ {لَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ هُدَاهُمْ} [البقرة 272] حَتَّى بَلَغَ {وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهُ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ} [البقرة 273] فَرُخِّصَ لَهُمْ سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] "That they should submit to their ancestral customs of idolatry, so they asked for special permission. Then this verse was revealed: 'It is not upon you to guide them, but Allah guides whom He wills. And whatever good you spend is for yourselves.' Until His saying, 'And you will not be wronged.'"  

أَنْ يَرْضَخُوا لِأَنْسَابِهِمْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَسَأَلُوا فَرُخِّصَ لَهُمْ» فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {لَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ هُدَاهُمْ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَلِأَنْفُسِكُمْ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ}  

[Machine] They surrender themselves to their relatives while they are polytheists, so the verse was revealed "It is not upon you, [O Muhammad], to guide them. But Allah guides whom He wills." [Quran 2:272] until it reached "and you are not to blame" [Quran 2:272]. He gave them permission.
