15. Chapter of Ṣād (Male) (18/19)
١٥۔ بَابُ الصَّادِ ص ١٨
أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to learn the Quran and encouraged us to do so, and he said, "Indeed, on the Day of Judgment, the Quran will come to its people, in the most desperate need for it." It will say to the Muslim, "Do you recognize me?" The Muslim will respond, "Who are you?" It will say, "I am the one whom you used to love and hate that you would be separated from, the one who used to draw you closer and bring you near." So the Quran will be brought forward to its Lord, and it will be given the dominion in its right hand, and everlasting life in its left hand. Tranquility will be placed upon its head, and it will be spread over its parents, who will not be given any proportionate recompense in this world. They will say, "For what reason did we receive this attire, and our deeds have not reached it?" It will be replied, "This is due to the taking of your child with the Quran."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to my people, and I arrived while they were eating flesh. I said, "I have been sent to forbid you from doing this." I placed my hand on my head and stood up while feeling defeated. Then, a person came to me in a dream with a container full of drinks and said, "Take this and drink." It seemed as if my stomach got filled, and I was satisfied. Then, I narrated this dream to them, and I heard them saying, "A man from your people has come who knows how to remove the bitterness with sweetness. Bring me their container of sweetness." I replied, "I have no need for it. Allah has fed me and quenched my thirst, and I have shown them my filled stomach, so they accept Islam."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to my people to invite them to Allah and present them with the laws of Islam. So I came to them while they were watering their camels and milking their she-camels. When they saw me, they said, "Welcome, O Suddi bin Ajlan!" I said, "No, I have only come to you on behalf of the one who forbids you from what Allah has revealed to him." They asked, "And what did he say?" I said, "He revealed this verse: 'Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine.' He continued until [the verse:] 'and that you seek to draw lots, by the arrows." I called them to Islam, but they refused. So I said to them, "Bring me some water, for I am extremely thirsty." They said, "No, we will let you die of thirst." I said, "So I tightened my turban and hit my head on it, and slept in the intense heat of the midday sun. Then someone came to me in a dream with a glass cup that the people had not seen anything better than, and it contained a drink that the people had not tasted anything more delicious than. He offered it to me, so I drank from it. When I finished drinking, I woke up, and I swear by Allah, I did not feel thirsty and I did not experience thirst after drinking from that cup."

Jibril came down and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered [the house] and said to Umm Salamah, 'Do not let anyone enter upon me.' Then Husain came, and when he saw the Prophet ﷺ in the room, he wanted to enter, but Umm Salamah took hold of him, embraced him, and whispered to him, calming him down. When he started crying intensely, she let him go, and he entered until he sat in the lap of the Prophet ﷺ. Jibril said, 'Verily, your ummah will kill this son of yours.' The Prophet asked, 'Will they kill him while they are believers in me?' Jibril replied, 'Yes, they will kill him.' Then Jibril took some soil and said, 'This is his place,' and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left, embracing Husain, with a saddened and heavy heart. Umm Salamah thought that he was angry because the child had entered upon him, so she said, 'O Prophet of Allah, may I be your ransom! Indeed, you said to us, 'Do not cry for this child,' and you commanded me not to let anyone enter upon you. But he came and I let him go, and you did not answer her. The Prophet went out to his companions, who were sitting, and said to them, 'My ummah will kill this child.' Among the people were Abu Bakr and 'Umar, who were the boldest of the people. They said, 'O Prophet of Allah, will they kill him while they are believers?' He said, 'Yes, and this is his soil,' and he showed them the soil."

I slept and in my dream, I was given a drink of milk, so I drank and quenched my thirst, and my hunger was satisfied. The people said, "A man from your best and noblest has come to you, but you refused him. Go to him and feed him from what he desires, then bring me food." I said, "I have no need for your food and drink, for Allah has already fed me and quenched my thirst." So they looked at the state I was in and they believed in me and what I came with from the Messenger of Allah.

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "My Lord came to me in the best form and said, 'O Muhammad!' So, I said, 'At your service, my Lord, and joy be with you.' He said, 'What do the highest angels dispute about?' I said, 'I do not know.' He then placed His hand on my chest, and I knew everything that He asked me about of the matters of the worldly life and the Hereafter. He said, 'What do the highest angels dispute about?' I said, 'They dispute about the degrees (of reward) and the expiation of sins.' He said, 'You have spoken the truth. Whoever does that will live a good life and die a good death, and his sins will be effaced as his mother gave birth to him. As for the expiation of sins, it is by feeding food, spreading peace, speaking good words, praying while people are asleep.' Then, he (the Prophet) said, 'O Allah, I ask You for the performance of good deeds, abstaining from evil, love for the poor, forgiveness, and that You turn to me (in mercy). And when You intend a test for a people, save me from being among the tested ones.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Learn the Quran, for it will intercede for its companions on the Day of Resurrection. Learn Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Al-Imran, learn the duas Al-Zahrawayn, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection like two clouds or two shades, or like two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for their companion. Learn Surah Al-Baqarah, for to take hold of it is a blessing, and to leave it is a regret, and the magicians cannot confront it with their magic."
