15. Chapter of Ṣād (Male)

15.9 [Machine] I am a slave who has embraced Islam, narrating from Suhaib.

tabarani:7297ʿAbdullāh b. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal > Muṣʿab b. ʿAbdullāh al-Zubayrī from my father > Rabīʿah b. ʿUthmān > Zayd b. Salm from his father > Kharajt Maʿ ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb

[Machine] "Umar, who has no father, curses me. He said that he is only cursing a boy who is known as Yahnes. He said, 'O Suhaib, I only criticize three qualities in you. If it weren't for them, I would never speak ill of you.' He said, 'What are they? For you are a slanderer.' He said, 'Is he informing you about them?' He said, 'Whenever you ask me about something, I inform you about it.' He said, 'And you are not informing me about something unless I believe you.' He said, 'I see you wasting your wealth and hiding behind the name of a prophet from my father Yaḥyā, and claiming to be an Arab, while your language is non-Arabic.' He said, 'As for my wasting of wealth, I only spend it in his rights. And as for my claim of being from the family of Yaḥyā, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ confirmed that I am from the family of Yaḥyā. Or should I abandon it because of your words? And as for my claim of being Arab, the Romans enslaved me when I was young. I do not remember my family, and even if I were to be separated from a lineage, I would claim it.'"

tabarani:7298ʿAlī b. al-Mubārak al-Ṣanʿānī > Ismāʿīl b. Abū Ūways > Ibn Abū al-Zinād > Mūsá b. ʿUqbah > ʿAṭāʾ b. Abū Marwān from his father > Kaʿb al-Aḥbār > Innā Najd Fī al-Tawrāh > Dāwud

[Machine] That Dawud, the Prophet of Allah ﷺ , used to say when he finished his prayer: "O Allah, reform my religion, which You have made the safeguard of my affairs, and reform my worldly life, in which You have placed my sustenance. O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and I seek refuge in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. Nothing can withhold what You have given, nor can anyone give what You have withheld, and the wealth of this world cannot benefit its owner from You." Ka'b al-Ahbar said, and Suhaib informed me, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite this supplication after finishing his prayer.

tabarani:7299[Chain 1] ʿUbaydullāh b. Muḥammad al-ʿUmarī al-Qāḍī > Ismāʿīl b. Abū Ūways [Chain 2] Sūwayd b. Saʿīd > Ḥafṣ b. Maysarah > Mūsá b. ʿUqbah > ʿAṭāʾ b. Abū Marwān from his father > Kaʿb Ḥalaf Bi-al-Lh al--Adhī Falaq al-Baḥr Limūsá > Ṣuhayb > Rasūl Allāh Ṣallá

[Machine] That Ka'b swore by Allah, who split the sea for Moses, that Suhaib told him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never saw a village that he intended to enter except that he would say when he saw it, "O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and whatever they shade, Lord of the seven earths and whatever they contain, Lord of the devils and whatever they misguide, Lord of the winds and whatever they scatter. We ask You for the goodness of this village and the goodness of its people, and seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of its people."
