11.123 [Machine] A woman does not fast voluntarily and her husband is a witness to it except with his permission.
[Machine] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A woman should not observe fasting when her husband is present, except with his permission."
A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ while we were with him. She said: Messenger of Allah, my husband, Safwan ibn al-Mu'attal, beats me when I pray, and makes me break my fast when I keep a fast, and he does not offer the dawn prayer until the sun rises. He asked Safwan, who was present, about what she had said. He replied: Messenger of Allah, as for her statement "he beats me when I pray", she recites two surahs (during prayer) and I have prohibited her (to do so). He (the Prophet) said: If one surah is recited (during prayer), that is sufficient for the people. (Safwan continued:) As regards her saying "he makes me break my fast," she dotes on fasting; I am a young man, I cannot restrain myself. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on that day: A woman should not fast except with the permission of her husband. (Safwan said:) As for her statement that I do not pray until the sun rises, we are a people belonging to a class, and that (our profession of supplying water) is already known about us. We do not awake until the sun rises. He said: When you awake, offer your prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2459)

11.124 [Machine] The Virtue of the Month of Ramadan and the Virtue of Fasting in Brief.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are restrained."
“When the first night of Ramadan comes, the satans and mischievous jinns are chained up, and the gates of the Fire are closed, and none of its gates are opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and none of its gates are closed. And a caller cries out: ‘O seeker of good, proceed, O seeker of evil, stop.’ And Allah has necks (people) whom He frees (from the Fire), and that happens every day.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1642)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The shade of Ramadan protects you from the heat of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. No month has passed over the Muslims that is better for them than it, nor has a month passed over the hypocrites that is worse for them than it. Indeed, Allah writes their rewards and voluntary acts of worship before they enter it, and He writes their sins and misfortunes before they enter it. This is because the believer counts his expenses for worship, while the hypocrite counts the faults of the Muslims and follows their weaknesses. So, it is a gain for the believer that the sinful person takes advantage of."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit and said, "Ameen, ameen, ameen." It was said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, what made you do this?" He said, "Jibril came to me and said, 'Woe to the one who found the blessed month of Ramadan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness.' I said, 'Ameen.' Then he said, 'Woe to the one who found his parents in old age, one or both of them, and did not enter Paradise.' I said, 'Ameen.' Then he said, 'Woe to the one who is mentioned in your presence and does not send blessings upon you.' I said, 'Ameen.'"
(Note: This is a narration from the words of Abd Al-Aziz, and in another narration from Sulayman, he ascended the pulpit and said, "Woe to the one who found the blessed month of Ramadan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness.")
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever fasts Ramadan, familiarizes himself with its limits, and preserves what should be preserved in it, will have his previous sins forgiven."
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven." (Using translation from Bukhārī 38)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Allah ﷻ says: Every action of the son of Adam is for himself except for fasting, it is for Me and I am the one who rewards it. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the breath of the one who fasts is more pleasant to Allah ﷻ than the fragrance of musk."
[Machine] "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is more beloved to Allah than the scent of musk. Allah says, 'The fasting person abandons their desires, food, and drink for My sake. Fasting is for Me and I will reward it accordingly. Every good deed is rewarded ten times its value, up to seven hundred times, except for fasting, for it is for Me and I will reward it.'"
“Every good deed of the son of Adam will be multiplied manifold. A good deed will be multiplied ten times up to as many as seven hundred times, or as much as Allah wills. Allah says: ‘Except for fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desire and his food for My sake.’ The fasting person has two joys, one when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. The smell that comes from the mouth of a fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1638)
[Machine] "O Abu Muhammad, of what the Prophet ﷺ narrates from his Lord ﷻ, every action of the son of Adam is for him except for fasting, for it is for Me and I will reward for it." Ibn Uyaynah said, "This is one of the most excellent and firmest Hadiths. When the Day of Judgment comes, Allah ﷻ will hold His servant accountable and will fulfill the obligations due from the servant for the injustices committed in all his actions until nothing remains except for fasting. Allah ﷻ will then take upon Himself the responsibility for the remaining injustices and will admit the servant into Paradise through fasting."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, in Paradise there is a gate called Ar-Rayyan, through which only the fasting ones will enter on the Day of Resurrection. No one else will enter with them. It will be said, 'Where are the fasting ones?' and they will enter from it. When the last of them has entered, it will be closed, and no one else will enter with them."
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Verily, Paradise has eight gates, among them is a gate called Ar-Rayyan, which only the fasting ones enter."
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad entered upon her, so she offered him food. He told her to eat, but she said she was fasting. He ﷺ said, "Indeed, when a fasting person is offered food in his presence, the angels pray for him until they finish or he finishes his meal."
[Machine] I heard Ubaid ibn Umayr saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the travelers. He replied, "They are the ones who are fasting."
11.125 [Machine] Generosity and Favor in the Month of Ramadan
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the most generous of people in doing good, and he was even more generous in Ramadan when Jibril ﷺ would meet him every night until he was taken to him. Jibril ﷺ would recite the Quran to him, and when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would meet him, he would be more generous in doing good than the gentle wind. Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us, Abu Bakr ibn Abdullah informed me, Al-Hasan ibn Sufyan narrated to me, Mansur ibn Abi Muzahim said, and Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya Ad-Darimi narrated to me, Abdulah ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah Al-Aziz narrated to me, Muhammad ibn Ja'far Al-Warkanini said: Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to me from Az-Zuhri and he mentioned it in a similar way.
the Prophet was asked which fast was most virtuous after Ramadan? He said: "Sha'ban in honor of Ramadan" He said: "Which charity is best?" He (pbuh) said: "Charity in Ramadan." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 663)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The grateful eater is similar to the patient fasting person." It has been said about Umar ibn Ali, from Ma'n, from Al-Maqburiyy, from Abu Hurairah.
[Machine] About the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , that he said, "Indeed, the thankful eater will have a reward similar to that of the patient fasting person."
11.127 [Machine] The Virtue of the Night of Decree
[Machine] In His statement, "Indeed, We sent it down during the Night of Decree", it is said that the Qur'an was revealed all at once to the heavens of the world and it was positioned with the stars. Allah would send it to His Messenger ﷺ bit by bit in intervals. Allah said, "And those who disbelieved say, "Why was the Qur'an not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly."
فِي قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ} [القدر 1] قَالَ أُنْزِلَ الْقُرْآنُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً إِلَى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا وَكَانَ بِمَوْقِعِ النُّجُومِ وَكَانَ اللهُ ﷻ يُنَزِّلُهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ ﷺ بَعْضُهُ فِي أَثَرِ بَعْضٍ فَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْلَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً كَذَلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلًا}
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ mentioned a man from the Children of Israel who wore armor in the path of Allah for a thousand months. The Muslims were amazed by this. Allah then revealed, "Indeed, We sent it down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months." (Surah Al-Qadr, verse 2) This refers to the night in which the man wore armor in the path of Allah for a thousand months, and this is the revelation.

[Machine] I asked Abu Dharr if he had asked the Messenger of Allah about Laylat al-Qadr. He said, "I used to ask about it excessively. So I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, inform me about Laylat al-Qadr, is it in Ramadan or in another month?' He said, 'It is in the month of Ramadan.' So I said, 'O Prophet of Allah, were you with the prophets when they were taken and raised up?' He said, 'No, but it extends until the Day of Judgment.' I said, 'Then inform me in which ten nights of Ramadan it is.' He said, 'Seek it in the last ten nights, and if you don't find it then, seek it in the first ten nights.' Then the Prophet of Allah spoke again, and his speech was interrupted, so I said, 'O Prophet of Allah, inform me in which ten nights it is.' He became angry with me, with the most severe anger that he had ever shown before or after. Then he said, 'Seek it in the last seven nights, and do not ask me about anything after that.'"

When the middle ten days were over, he commanded for the construction of the mosque to be halted, and it was demolished. Then it was revealed to him in the last ten days, so he commanded for the mosque to be reconstructed in its original place, and he retreated for worship in the last ten days. He came out to us and said, "O people, I was informed about the Night of Decree, so I came out in order to inform you or be informed by you about it. However, two men quarreled with each other, and Satan made me forget it. So seek it in the ninth, seventh, and fifth nights." Abu Nadrah said, "So I said to Abu Sa'id, 'You, the Sahaba (companions) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, are the most knowledgeable about our number, so how should we count it?' He said, 'Indeed, we are more knowledgeable about that than you. When the twenty-first night passes, the ninth follows it. Then when the one after has passed, the seventh follows it. Then when the one after has passed, the fifth follows it.'" Abu Mas'ud said, "Abu Al-'Ala' informed me by way of Mu'attib, who narrated from Mu'awiyah, that he said, 'And on the third night...'"

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to spend the middle ten days of Ramadan in retirement and devotion (i'tikaf) in the mosque. One year he had retirement and devotion in the mosque (as usual); when the twenty-first night came, and this night when he used to come out his devotion in the mosque, he said: He who has engaged himself in devotion along with me should do so during the last ten days; I saw that night, that was caused to forget it, but I have seen myself prostrating in water and mud on the morning following (that night), so seek it in the last ten days and seek it every night with an odd number. Abu sa'id said: Rain fell that night, the mosque that was thatched building dripped, and my eyes saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the traces of water and mud, on his forehead on the morning following the twenty-first night. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1382)

I was shown Lailat-ul-Qadr; then I was made to forget it, and saw that I was prostrating in water and clay in the morning of that (night). He (the narrator) said: There was a downpour on the twenty-third night and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer, and as he went back, there was a trace of water and clay on his forehead and on his nose. He (the narrator) said: 'Abdullah b. Unais used to say that it was the twenty-third (night). (Using translation from Muslim 1168)

He then sent me, and I was the youngest among them, to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . I said to the Messenger of Allah: I have a place in the desert where I live and in which I pray, with the praise of Allah; but give me command about a night when I come to this mosque. He replied: Come on the twenty third night. I (a sub-narrator, Muhammad ibn Ibrahim) said to his (Abdullah ibn Unays's) son: How would your father act? He replied: He used to enter the mosque when he had offered the afternoon prayer, and did not leave it for any purpose till he prayed the morning prayer. Then when he had prayed the morning prayer, he found his riding beast at the door of the mosque, mounted it and got back to his desert. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1380)

[Machine] I saw men from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ in a dream that the Night of Al-Qadr is in the last seven nights of Ramadan. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I hear your dreams agreeing that it is in the last seven nights. So whoever is seeking it, let him seek it in the last seven nights." 8545 Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz and Abu Nasr Ahmad ibn Ali Al-Fami informed us, they said: Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Muhammad and Jafar ibn Muhammad said: Yahya ibn Yahya said: I read upon Malik and he mentioned the hadith with its meaning.
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed, some of you have seen the Night of Al-Qadr in the first seven (nights), and indeed, some of you have seen it in the last seven (nights). So seek it in the last seven (nights).'"
Seek Lailat-ul-Qadr in the last week (of Ramadan). (Using translation from Muslim 1165b)
[Machine] "On the night of Al-Qadr, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever wants to seek it, let him seek it on the twenty-seventh night.' Shu'bah narrated to me that a trustworthy man reported from Sufyan that he used to say, 'Verily, the one who wants to seek it should seek it in the last seven nights.' I don't know if Shu'bah had doubt about this narration or if it was from another narrator."
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ : "In the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr), seek it during the last ten nights of Ramadan. If one of you is weak or unable, let them not be overwhelmed by the remaining seven nights."
