11. Fasting
The virtue of righteous deeds in the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah
The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no deed done in any days that is better than it is in the ten of Dhul-Hijjah." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, not even jihad in the cause of Allah?" He said: "Not even jihad in the cause of Allah, except for a man who goes out with himself and his wealth in the cause of Allah, then returns with none of that at all." This is the wording of Shubah’s hadith.
In the narration of Abu Muawiyah, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There are no days in which righteous action is more beloved to Allah than these days, meaning the ten days," and the rest is with its meaning.
Fasting the nine days of Dhu al-Hijjah and Ashura
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast the nine days of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day of Ashura, and three days of every month: the first Monday of the month, Thursday, meaning also another day. Abu Dawud also narrated it from Musaddad.
Aisha did not see the Prophet fasting during the ten days
I have never seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fasting during the ten ˹days of˺ Dhu al-Hijjah.
