8. Shāmīs (4/26)
I heard the apostle of Allah ﷺ say: If anyone makes (his wife) wash and he washes himself on Friday, goes out early (for Friday prayer), attends the sermon from the beginning, walking, not riding, takes his seat near the imam, listens attentively, and does not indulge in idle talk, he will get the reward of a year's fasting and praying at night for every step he takes. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 345)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , mention it, except that he said: "Then he left and invented."
8.8 [Machine] Salma bin Nufail Al-Sakuni
[Machine] We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when someone said, "O Messenger of Allah, have you been brought food from heaven?" He said, "Yes." They asked, "And what was it?" He said, "It was a dish called miskhanah." They asked, "Did it have any special virtue from you?" He said, "Yes." They asked, "And what happened to it?" He said, "It was lifted up while I was being inspired that I am a mortal and will not remain among you for long, and you will not remain with me for long either. Rather, you will stay for a short while until you ask, 'When will you come?' Some among you will destroy others, and before the Hour there will be violent deaths and years of earthquakes."
[Machine] He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I have prepared the horses, prepared the weapons, and prepared the burdens of war." I said, "There is no fighting." The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Now the fighting has come. A group from my nation will continue to manifest themselves to the people, and Allah will cast terror into the hearts of some nations, and they will fight them, and Allah will provide them with sustenance from them, until the command of Allah comes while they are in that state. Indeed, the reward of the believers' abode is Sham (Greater Syria), and horses are tied at their reins for goodness until the Day of Resurrection."
8.9 [Machine] Yazeed bin Al-Akhnas on the Prophet ﷺ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not compete with one another except in two things. A man to whom Allah has given the Qur'an and he recites it day and night, operating according to its guidance. And a man to whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in charity. Then a person says, 'If Allah gave me what He gave so-and-so, I would do just as he does.' And a man to whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in charity. Then a person says, 'If Allah gave me what He gave so-and-so, I would also spend it in charity.' Then a man said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about help being with the person who recites the Qur'an, while the rest of the hadith was omitted?
8.10 [Machine] Ghudayf ibn al-Harith
[Machine] I have not forgotten about the things, I have not forgotten that I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placing his right hand on his left during prayer.
[Machine] "And the scholars used to say that when it is recited near the deceased, its punishment is lessened. Safwan said that Isa bin Mutaamir recited it near Ibn Ma'bad."
[Machine] "O Abu Asmaa, indeed we have gathered people around two matters." He asked, "And what are they?" He replied, "Raising hands on the pulpits on Fridays, and reciting stories after Fajr and Asr prayers." Abu Asmaa asked, "Are they innovations invented by you?" He said, "Yes, and I do not answer you regarding either of them." Abu Asmaa asked, "Why?" He said, "Because the Prophet ﷺ said, 'No people introduce a new innovation except a similar one is lifted from the Sunnah. Holding steadfast to the Sunnah is better than inventing an innovation."
8.11 [Machine] A man from the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
[Machine] Narrated by some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , he heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Indeed, it will be said to the children on the Day of Resurrection, 'Enter Paradise.' They will say, 'O Lord, not until our fathers and mothers enter.' So, they will come and Allah will say, 'Why do I see them hesitating? Enter Paradise.' They will say, 'O Lord, our fathers!' He will say, 'Enter Paradise, you and your fathers.'"
8.12 [Machine] Habis bin Saad Al-Taie
[Machine] Habib ibn Saad al-Tayy, who was under the effect of magic, entered the mosque and found the Prophet ﷺ witnessing the people praying at the front of the mosque. He said, "Marra'un! By the Lord of the Kaaba, terrify them!" Whoever terrifies them has indeed obeyed Allah and His Messenger. So the people approached them and expelled them. He said, "The angels were praying at the front of the mosque under the influence of magic."
8.13 [Machine] Abdullah bin Hawala
[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever is saved from three things has been saved from three types of death: the Dajjal, the killing of a just ruler, and a death that comes with patience and adhering to the truth.
8.14 [Machine] Kharsha Bin al-Har
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "There will be a trial after me in which the one who is sleeping will be better than the one who is awake, and the one who is sitting will be better than the one who is standing, and the one who is standing will be better than the one who is walking. Whoever is afflicted with it should take his sword and strike with it until it is broken, then lie down with it until it is gone."
8.15 [Machine] Abu Jumah Habib bin Sibaa
[Machine] That Abu Jum'a, the beloved son of Siba', had met the Prophet ﷺ during the Year of the Parties, and the Prophet ﷺ had prayed Maghrib. When he finished, he said, "Did anyone of you know that I prayed Asr?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we did not see you pray it." So the Prophet commanded the Mu'adhdhin to establish the prayer and he prayed Asr, then he repeated Maghrib.
[Machine] Abu Jum'ah narrated to me, she said: "We had breakfast with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and Abu 'Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah was with us. He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, is anyone better than us? We embraced Islam and fought alongside you.' He said, 'Yes, there will be people after you who will believe in me without seeing me.'"
[Machine] I said to Abu Jum'a, a man from the companions, "Tell us a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah." He said, "Yes, I will tell you a good hadith. We had lunch with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu 'Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah was with us. Abu 'Ubaydah said, 'O Messenger of Allah, is anyone better than us? We embraced Islam with you and fought alongside you.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Yes, there will be a people who will believe in me without seeing me, after you.'"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say about Allah (SWT), "I am as my servant thinks of Me, so let him think of Me as he wishes."

[Machine] "The greatest of lies is for a man to claim to be someone's father when he is not, or for him to see in a dream something that his eyes have not seen, or to attribute something to the Messenger of Allah that he did not say."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: The greatest liar is the one who attributes words to me that I have not said, and the one who claims to see with his eyes in a dream what he has not seen, and the one who claims to be a son of someone other than his father.
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that the scriptures of Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ were revealed on the first night of Ramadan, and the Torah was revealed in six parts throughout Ramadan, and the Gospel was revealed in thirteen parts throughout Ramadan, and the Quran was revealed in twenty-four parts throughout Ramadan."

[Machine] Shall I not inform you about what I have seen from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? I said: Yes. He said: I went to Fatimah and asked her about Ali. She said: I directed myself to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and waited for him until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came with Ali, Hasan, and Husayn, each of them holding the hand of the other. Then he brought Ali and Fatimah closer and seated them in front of him, and he placed Hasan and Husayn, each one of them, on his lap. Then he covered them with his garment or said "cloak." Then he recited this verse: "Indeed, Allah desires to remove from you the impurity, O people of the household, and purify you completely." And he said: "O Allah, they are of my household, and my household is more deserving..."

“I asked the Prophet ﷺ: ‘O Messenger of Allah, is it tribalism if a man loves his people?’ He said: ‘No, rather tribalism is when a man helps his people to do wrong.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3949)
8.18 [Machine] Ruwaifah bin Thabit al-Ansari
[Machine] On the authority of Abu Marzūq, the freed slave of Tujībah, who said: Ruwaif ibn Thābit al-Ansāri reported, "I was with the Prophet ﷺ when he conquered Hunayn. He stood among us as a preacher and said, 'It is not permissible for a person who believes in Allah and the Last Day to water his own crops from the water of others, nor is it permissible for him to buy spoils of war until they are distributed, nor is it permissible for him to wear clothing taken as spoils of war from Muslims until he mends it, nor should he ride a riding animal taken as spoils of war from Muslims until he removes it from it.'"
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever sends blessings upon Muhammad and says, 'O Allah, place him in the highest station near You on the Day of Resurrection and grant him my intercession''
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "It is not permissible for anyone to take the earnings of another person, and Qutaybah said to a man: He should not let others drink from his water while he has children who also need it, and he should not have sexual relations with a female slave until she has her menstrual cycle or her pregnancy becomes obvious."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade women to be approached (sexually) until they have their menstruation, and (also forbade approaching) those who are pregnant until they give birth.
[Machine] "He participated in a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, 'One of us used to take half of the camel's share of the spoils until one would get the cup and the other the spear and feathers.'"
[Machine] Ruwaifibnu Thabit said, "During the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , we used to raid [enemies]. One of us would take the other's camel, with the understanding that he would get half of the spoils. Sometimes, one of us would get the vessel [for drinking water], while the other would get the sword and feathers [of the enemy]." Ruwaifibnu Thabit continued, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'O Ruwaifib, it is possible that you will live a long life, so inform the people that whoever trims his beard or imitates the non-Muslims, or performs istinja (cleansing after using the bathroom) with animal bones or bones, has disassociated himself from what Allah has revealed to Muhammad ﷺ .'"
Shayban al-Qatbani reported that Maslamah ibn Mukhallad made Ruwayfi' ibn Thabit the governor of the lower parts (of Egypt). He added: We travelled with him from Kum Sharik to Alqamah or from Alqamah to Kum Sharik (the narrator doubts) for Alqam. Ruwayfi' said: Any one of us would borrow a camel during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ from the other, on condition that he would give him half the booty, and the other half he would retain himself. Further, one of us received an arrowhead and a feather, and the other an arrow-shaft as a share from the booty. He then reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: You may live for a long time after I am gone, Ruwayfi', so, tell people that if anyone ties his beard or wears round his neck a string to ward off the evil eye, or cleanses himself with animal dung or bone, Muhammad has nothing to do with him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 36)
[Machine] "O people, I only say to you what I have heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: 'He stood among us on the day of Hunayn and said, 'It is not permissible for a person who believes in Allah and the Last Day to water his crops with water intended for someone else, meaning by bringing water from the wells of captives. And it is not permissible for a person who has acquired a chaste woman from among the captives to have sexual relations with her until he has purified her, meaning by marrying her. And it is not permissible for a person to sell the spoils of war until they have been divided. And it is not permissible for a person to ride a mount belonging to the Muslims until he has ridden it and then returned it. And it is not permissible for a person to wear a garment belonging to the Muslims until he has worn it and then returned it.'"
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sell gold for gold unless it is by weight, and should not exchange a she-camel for a she-camel unless it is by weight. He should not marry a slave woman unless she is free and has had her menstrual period."
[Machine] "And Ruwaif said to us that whoever is afflicted with this captivity, should not approach her until she menstruates. Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'It is not permissible for a man to irrigate his water and the water of others.'"
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'O Ruwaifi', you may live for a long time after me, so tell the people that whoever ties up his beard, or twists it, or hangs an amulet, or cleans himself (after relieving himself) with animal dung or bones, Muhammad has nothing to do with him.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5067)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Indeed, the one who is stingy is in the fire (of Hell)."
(Habas)
[Machine] Habis ibn Saad Al-Ta'i entered the mosque affected by magic, and the Prophet ﷺ noticed him. He saw the people praying in the front of the mosque and said, "Make way for him, and by the Lord of the Kaaba, frighten them." Whoever frightens them has indeed obeyed Allah and His Messenger." So the people went to him and pushed him out. He said, "Indeed, the angels pray from the front of the mosque affected by magic."

8.20 [Machine] Abdullah ibn Hawala on the Prophet ﷺ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever escapes from three things has indeed escaped death three times: the death of mine, the coming of the False Messiah [the Antichrist], and the killing of a patient caliph who upholds the truth and gives it."
[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was sitting in the shade of a domed structure, and he had a scribe with him who was writing for him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shouldn't I dictate to you, O Ibn Hawalah?" I said, "I don't know what Allah and His Messenger have decreed for me." So he turned away from me. Isma'il said to him once again, "Shouldn't we write for you, O Ibn Hawalah?" I said, "I don't know, O Messenger of Allah, in what?" So he turned away from me again. Then he leaned on his scribe and dictated to him. Then he said, "Shouldn't we write for you, O Ibn Hawalah?" I said, "I don't know what Allah and His Messenger have decreed for me." So he turned away from me again and leaned on his scribe who wrote for him. Then I looked and saw in the book the name 'Umar, so I said.
The Prophet ﷺ said: It will turn out that you will be armed troops, one is Syria, one in the Yemen and one in Iraq. Ibn Hawalah said: Choose for me, Messenger of Allah, if I reach that time. He replied: Go to Syria, for it is Allah's chosen land, to which his best servants will be gathered, but if you are unwilling, go to your Yemen, and draw water from your tanks, for Allah has on my account taken special charge of Syria and its people. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2483)
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever is saved from three things has indeed been saved three times: my death, the Dajjal (Antichrist), and the killing of a patient and just Khalifah (Caliph) who upholds the truth and gives it."
8.21 [Machine] Uqbah ibn Malik
The Prophet ﷺ sent a detachment. I gave a sword to a man from among them. When he came back, he said: Would that you saw us how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rebuked us, saying: When I sent out a man who does not fulfil my command, are you unable to appoint in his place one who will fulfil my command. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2627)
[Machine] While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was giving a sermon, someone said, "O Messenger of Allah, I swear by Allah that the one who said what he said did not say it except seeking protection from being killed." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned his story and approached him. The trace of anger was visible on his face, and then he said, "Verily, Allah has forbidden me to kill a believer." He repeated this three times.
[Machine] Once, a group of people who were on a secret mission for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ approached a well in the morning. A man from the people of the well appeared and one of the Muslims apprehended him. The man said, "I am a Muslim," but he was killed. When they returned, they informed the Prophet ﷺ about what had happened. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to address the people, praised Allah and glorified Him, then said, "What is wrong with a Muslim killing another man while the latter is saying, 'I am a Muslim'? The man said this as a means of seeking refuge." Upon hearing this, the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away, and he stretched out his right hand and said, "I swear by Allah, the one who kills a Muslim will never enter Paradise." He repeated this statement three times.
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "There will be turmoil after me, and in it, the one who is asleep is better than the one who is awake, and the one who is sitting is better than the one who is standing, and the one who is standing is better than the one who is walking. So whoever is affected by it, let him walk with his sword to Safa and strike with it until it breaks, then let him lie down until it subsides."
8.23 [Machine] A man about the Prophet ﷺ
[Machine] I met a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ who accompanied him just like Abu Hurayrah did. He did not teach me anything except for three words: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man should not perform ghusl due to the favor of his wife, nor should she perform ghusl due to his favor. He should not urinate in the place of his ghusl, nor should he comb his hair every day."
